Occupying a spot in the Puente de Vallecas neighbourhood, this contemporary apartment is perfect for those who want to be far from the bustle of the city centre but well connected to the capital’s best bits. Hop on the metro and arrive at the manicured Retiro Park in thirty minutes or stretch your legs with a ten-minute stroll over to the Cerro del Tío Pío Park for unbeatable views of Madrid. If sightseeing is on the agenda, head into the Centro district for the Plaza Mayor, Gran Vía and Royal Palace. 

Inside the home, it’s calm and collected with Nordic-inspired furnishings and natural textures that add an inviting warmth to the place. The kitchenette is equipped with everything you need for putting together traditional Spanish dishes and the bright living area is the perfect place to unwind with an evening glass of wine. Leading off the bedroom, you’ll find a dink balcony – it was our favourite place to start the morning with a cup of coffee.

The neutral colour palette and natural textures are a welcoming touch to the contemporary amenities. 

Locally, you’ll be met with department stores, vibrant bars and delicious restaurants all on your doorstep. Whether you’re indulging in the glamour of El Retiro Park or you want to obsess over the beautiful historic charm, the metro is at your service. When you’re ready to set your bags down and take a load off those aching feet, do so reclined on the balcony, with a glass of wine in hand. This will be the ideal spot to be captivated by the setting sun. With comfort in abundance and style at every turn, this home provides a calming haven set in the heart of the Madrid magic.

Found in an apartment building meters from Portazgo metro station, this bright double room is ideal for city explorers wanting to make the most of their time in Madrid. Though it may not have a kitchen, there's a coffee machine to get your mornings started and local restaurants to take care of the rest. Adapted for wheelchair users, this room, with accessible shower, is only a short ride from iconic landmarks like Museo Nacional del Prado and Chocolatería San Ginés.

A six-minute stroll from the Nueva Numancia station, this minimalist apartment offers great public transport links for sightseers and commuters alike. Indoors, this home keeps things simple with its Scandinavian style, but climbing the stairs to the third floor won't work for everyone. That said, we think that the free toiletries and baby travel equipment offer a thoughtful touch to holidaymakers. Greenery awaits at the Real Jardin Botanico, and the Paseo del Prado Boulevard is a thirty-minute metro ride away.

Sitting within the Puente de Vallecas district of the Spanish capital, this apartment will appeal to those with a preference for stylish yet simple design.

Stark white walls and smart wooden floors are a timelessly chic combination and make for a blank canvas against which colourful furnishings and accent walls really stand out – not to mention a couple of towering house plants. The super-sleek kitchen is not only easy on the eye but also has enough surface space for whipping up family-sized feasts.

The local area is a little more residential than the city's more touristy areas, but Madrid's most famous sights aren't too far away, either. You can reach the southern side of the Parque de el Retiro – recently added to UNESCO's World Heritage list – in twenty minutes by bus, while the striking architecture of Gran Vía is only half an hour away on the metro.

This is a quirky apartment tucked behind Atocha station. The bold style decisions, including a coral photo print on the pillows, or a fish chandelier (you can see a theme forming), might not be to everyone's taste, but they certainly make this home unique. The Sea Change is comfortable, bright, and it has a balcony that's been converted into a study. Although slightly farther away from the museums, all the sights around Retiro are still accessible on foot and the area around Atocha hides tonnes of great restaurants and cafes.

If you’re seeking a quieter location in the vibrant city of Madrid, this light-filled apartment might be for you. Located between Adelfas and Numancia, it’s not super central but easily connected to the city, with the Puente de Vallecas metro a short walk away. You can reach El Retiro and the city centre in under thirty minutes. Spread over three levels, you’ll need to climb some stairs here, though this layout is what makes it feel so open. The space is minimal but perfectly practical for remote workers and those wanting a comfortable spot to return home after a busy day of sightseeing.

This pocket-sized aparthotel suite outside the city centre doesn’t have many bells and whistles, but its proximity to public transport means you can easily reach Madrid’s most famous sights with ease and return to a base away from the tourist crowds. Given its compact size, using the sofa bed would make it a tight squeeze, but couples or solo travellers will find it a comfortable fit. There’s a coffee machine on hand and a desk space too – ideal for corporate travellers – and while there isn’t a kitchen here, you’ll find a selection of restaurants and bars just beyond your door.

This simple Madrid home in the San Diego neighbourhood isn't the city's most exciting, but it does tick several key boxes for us. Nearby you'll find several parks, making it suitable if you're travelling with young ones. And while the nearest metro stations are a bit of a walk, there are several buses stopping close by that you can use to reach the city centre. Although this home can host four guests, it's a squeeze having the sofa bed out in the living area, and there isn't much natural light here. We think it's most suited to those who want to drop their bags and explore.

Get off the beaten track at this chic apartment in the Puente de Vallecas district. There are an array of eateries and bars on your doorstep, or head to Cerro del Tio Pio Park, a sixteen-minute stroll for fabulous views of Madrid. If you fancy an afternoon boating on the lake, El Retiro Park is under a thirty-minute walk away – it’s also home to the Reina Sofía Museum, which exhibits 20th-century art. When you want to explore central Madrid, take a walk to Puente de Vallecas station on the Madrid Metro, seven minutes on foot, where trains will whisk you to the heart of the action in thirty minutes. 

Back at this home, we love the bright living room with its Scandinavian style furnishings, calming neutral hues and potted plants. Relax on the comfy sofa and read a book. Later rustle up a bocadillo de calamares in the modern kitchen and enjoy at your dining table with a glass of tinto de Verano. At this place, you can live like a true Madrilenian.

We love the bright, airy feel of this immaculate apartment, located right in the beating heart of Puente de Vallecas –⁠ one of Madrid’s most vibrant and diverse districts. But the real pièce de resistance of this stylish bolthole has to be the suntrap outdoor terrace, looking out above the rooftops of neighbouring buildings. Opening up the balcony door in the mornings with a coffee (a pod machine will help with that) as the streets of Madrid awaken below is quite something. It’s also a great space to come together in the evenings for a few pre-dinner drinks as dusk settles across the city. When it’s time to experience some culture and meet the locals, you’re perfectly placed here. Set back from the city’s central tourist traps, you'll find a more authentic neighbourhood feel here, with traditional tapas bars and restaurants to keep you watered and fed. Or nip across to your well-heeled neighbours in the Retiro district (forty minutes on foot). Home to the celebrated Prado Museum (think masterpieces from Velázquez, Goya, and Zurbarán) –⁠ and the iconic El Retiro Park with its scenic lakes and open-air cafes –⁠ you could easily while away an afternoon here. Or hop on the metro station (five minutes away on foot) to unearth other corners of this enchanting city. Just think of the places you'll go.

Elsewhere, Puerta del Sol is a twenty-minute Metro ride away and the popular Centro Comercial Plaza Rio 2 is thirty-three minutes away by Metro.
