Just a two-minute stroll from Manuel Becerra metro stop, this apartment in Barrio de Salamanca is truly a breath of fresh air in the hot atmosphere of the Spanish capital. Surrounded by boulevards full of vibrant wine bars and restaurants, and eleven minutes on foot from cultural hotspots like the Nuevo Teatro Alcalá, you’ve got plenty of excitement on ground level – but a place to relax on the fourth floor.

This striking flat combines historic originals and modern fixtures in the most tasteful way. Bright windows and white walls exaggerate the sense of space, alongside high ceilings with rustic timber beams. We love the use of glass panels above the bedroom partitions, as well as the wooden cabinet with all sorts of books and trinkets within.

Waking up in white, zen-like bedrooms is a joy in this busy city. Make yourself an espresso and peer over the windowsill as the streets start to wake up. Located right in the centre of Madrid within walking distance of its cultural treasures, this apartment is its own gallery of miscellaneous wonders perched high above the pavements. Starting from the fuzzy caterpillar-like chaise lounge in the living room that sets the eclectic glamorous tone, this home puts just about everything in the mix, from boldly patterned wallpaper and towering palm plants to the Asian dresser in the living area and the bright blue countertop. It's fair to say that we loved it. A small balcony in one of the bedrooms was the cherry on the cake and is perfect for when you want a blast of fresh air on a stuffy afternoon. If you want to head out exploring, Museo Nacional del Prado is just over ten minutes' walk away, while Palacio de Cristal in the middle of Parque de el Retiro takes around twenty-five.

Blue Torito is a chilled-out home located in one of the liveliest parts of Madrid. Even though it sports a gentle colour palette, it uses patterns and textures to give it a bit more spunk. From woven carpets to the textured headboards, it's apparent that the hosts like playing with details. The design is somewhat lacking a coherent theme, but Blue Torito is still a solid, bright, and comfortable choice, with access to a resident-only pool and terrace.

Madrid is the vibrant, beating heart of Spain where wine bar chatter runs long into the night and the handsome streets are packed with galleries and museums. This apartment, in soothing neutral tones, is a haven away from the hubbub. Set around an internal courtyard, bedrooms are blissfully quiet. The master is a medley of candyfloss and dusky pink with a simple raw wood bed frame adding a boho touch. The bright living room with its big window can be set up as a social space for dining and hanging out on the sofa, or as a third bedroom with a Murphy bed folding down. You’re in the cultural heart of Madrid here, a ten-minute walk to the world-famous Prado museum and beautiful botanic gardens, and twelve minutes to Plaza Mayor.

Bright and thoughtfully designed, this charming apartment borders the luscious gardens of Real Jardín Botánico and is moments away from Caixa Forum’s vertical growing wall and suspended architecture. This elegant home provides an idyllic base for a family or group of friends seeking a calm retreat with cultural hotspots on the doorstep.

We knew that, if the towering wooden front door with pretty cast iron rosettes was anything to go by, this home would be hiding away some pretty impressive features. From the elegant archway to the hand-painted floral panels, the sweet antique toy horse to the immaculately-tiled kitchen – it's a real gem. There’s a tranquil ambience here, which invites you to wind down in the cosy living space whilst the central dining table insists on a homemade tapas spread for a memorable night with your loved ones. 

The surrounding streets are packed with a host of options. Mornings can be best spent altogether walking around El Retiro Park, just a twelve-minute walk away. When it comes to lunch, there’s a whirlwind of culinary offerings so take your pick - a meat-centred affair at Sala de Despiece or hard-hitting small plates at Tripea’s open kitchen in ​​Mercado de Vallehermoso. After your fill, contemplate the artworks in Prado Museum or pop into the boutiques that line the Golden Mile.

Equidistant to Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, The Sun and Stone is perfectly located for those who want to explore Madrid on foot. This home is a typically modern city affair with a minimalist aesthetic and lots of natural light. The thing we liked most about The Sun and Stone is that it's been designed with the guest in mind. The kitchen island is great for socialising, there's ample storage space the communal areas are both inviting and comfortable – basically, an all-rounder.

Several of the original architectural elements in Strength of Spirit have been preserved, so that the flat keeps some character and a sense of place, and this pays off. It might seem like a slightly nebulous point, but the fact that it feels Madrileño makes the guest feel at ease – there’s nothing jarring about the space. There are a few more modern features though, like the sleek, black kitchen, which adds a bit of variety, but these feel a bit beside the point. There’s nothing wrong with them, but nor do they add a tonne.

This bright and welcoming apartment is a practical and comfortable base just outside of the centre of Madrid. You need only walk five minutes to the metro, where you can hop on a direct line to the centre of the city – it only takes fifteen minutes to reach attractions like Plaza de España and Parque de Atracciones. When you’re not seeing the sights, you’ll be glad to have a calm and cosy home-from-home. The apartment is on the fifth floor – there’s a lift though – and boasts a petite balcony when you want a breath of fresh air.

This apartment lies in Madrid's prestigious Salamanca neighbourhood. The decor is on the simple side, but the fast wi-fi and dedicated desk in one of the bedrooms make it a good choice if you need to get some work done during your stay. The sofa bed in the living room offers flexible sleeping arrangements which will be ideal for families, and your host can provide a cot for little ones for an additional fee. The central location means there is the potential for some outside noise, but you'll never be far from the neighbourhood's fantastic restaurants and boutiques, so if you're hoping for a spot of retail therapy you're in the right place.

Located in the heart of Chueca, with its authentic array of bars, cafes, and plazas, this apartment is well-situated for exploring Madrid’s iconic sights. Madrid is easily explored on foot, but should you wish to hop on the metro, Noviciado and Tribunal are a few steps away. The interiors are fairly simple, though perfectly practical for a city stay. There’s a balcony for admiring the streets below, though there’s no seating out here. And while it may feel a little cramped with three guests, it’s a great option should you need flexibility.

Home to stately buildings, tree-lined streets and some of the best shopping and dining in Madrid, swanky Salamanca is a pretty impressive neighbourhood to call home. Museums, metro stops, galleries and the gorgeous Parque de El Retiro are all within easy reach of this modern apartment, which is smack dab in the heart of this lively area.

Inside, this contemporary pad has everything you need to make yourself at home after a day filled with shopping and sightseeing in the Spanish sun. Kick back on the cosy sectional sofa with a glass of Cava and rest weary legs, or head straight to the stylish bedroom for some well-deserved shut-eye. Although it's small, the innovative design makes the most of the space – a small desk is tucked into the bookshelf, built-in appliances in the kitchen keep everything sleek and tidy and the coffee table can become a four-seater dining table if needed. Every room is filled with light and features vibrant artwork, white-washed walls and minimal decor – we think it's the perfect blend of comfort and style.

You'll be in good company with a stay at this elegant apartment, overlooking one of Madrid's most iconic baroque churches and with the emblematic Royal Palace just around the corner. With so many hotspots on your doorstep, it's no surprise this place is slap bang in Madrid's Centro district. Dive into its history-rich streets dotted with royal palaces and uncover leafy plazas at every turn – there's a sunny spot at an outdoor cafe waiting just for you when thoughts turn to a crisp glass of vino and tapas plates. More of a sweet tooth? Then the famed Chocolatería San Ginés for churros with chocolate is dangerously close, just a five-minute stroll away.

Back home, behind the building's opulent 1880s façade, a crisp, contemporary home awaits. Flanked by Juliet balcony doors opening onto the neighbouring Iglesia de San Nicolás, natural daylight bounces off the bleached wood floors right up to those high ceilings to glorious effect. With a free-flowing living space, king-sized bedrooms, and two marble-clad walk-in shower rooms to kickstart your day, this place feels vast by Madrid standards. And you're sorted for work with a dedicated desk tucked away in the bedroom – though that dining table with a view is as good a spot as any to play catch-up on emails. Just don't work too hard – Madrid is waiting.

Opposite the iconic bullfighting ring, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, this home has an enviable location. It's extremely well-connected to public transport links and plenty of traditional tapas spots are within walking distance. Some of the furniture is a little dated and the touristic photography won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it still has plenty of strengths. Recently renovated, everything works perfectly. The wifi is speedy, the parquet flooring is immaculate, and we loved the little terrace – a sweet place to enjoy breakfast before heading out to explore the city.

Mere minutes away from Puerta del Sol and many of Madrid's most sought-after attractions, this sunny apartment is best suited to those who prefer to enjoy a city break on foot. 

Elegantly furnished, its simple designs have been carefully selected with attention to detail and high-quality materials. We particualrly loved the serene vibe felt throughout the home which makes retreating back here after fun-filled days and nights out in the city all the more appealing. 

Ideal for a small family or group of friends, one of the bedrooms boasts a street view window, while the other has its own little interior patio terrace – a peaceful spot to wake up to over your morning coffee.

Once you're refreshed and ready for the day – set off to explore the sights. With the likes of Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace just a five-minute walk away – there's no need to set foot on public transport when staying here.

Tucked away in Ríos Rosas, this apartment is an ideal base for a couple or a solo traveller. If you’re in the city for business, the desk set to one side of the bedroom makes remote working a breeze, while the two balconies offer the perfect spot for an evening sangria. And while you may like to cook at home, when in Madrid, live like a local. Calle Pozano, famed for its tapas bars, is the place Madrileños flock to – so dining out is a must. Keen to explore further afield? The nearby metro makes sightseeing simple, with vibrant Puerto del Sol a short ride away.

And that's not including the beach and Gothic Quarter, both of which can be reached in less than thirty minutes by metro. Back at home, we think you'll like the chic decor, and the kitchenette is ideal if you want to spend an evening at home after a day on your feet. And if you need to get some work done, the desk by the windows at least lets you enjoy the sunshine while you do it,

A Toast to the City

Design meets comfort at this light-filled apartment in central Madrid. Located in the hip and happening Malasaña area, this unique space captures the creative spirit of its neighbourhood. With bohemian textiles and eclectic art, the overall ambience is grounded by simple furniture and contemporary units.

Nearby, you'll find a plethora of spots to sample paella and enjoy tipples on the characterful, mural-clad streets. Walk down the city's signature wide boulevards and reach the historic centre, where Plaza Mayor and a selection of infamous museums await. If you only have time for one, make it the Prado – the collection of European art is one of the world's best, with works by Goya and Titian housed inside. El Retiro Park is just a stone's throw away, a manicured 19th-century expanse with a blooming rose garden and boating lake. This idyllic spot is not to be missed if you're in town on a romantic getaway.

Tucked away in a typical Madrid townhouse in Chamberí, Grottino is a great base to explore the city. The streets surrounding this home are part of a neighbourhood that's just as opulent as Salamanca, yet closer to the old centre – which is great for a first-time visitor. Grottino might not be the brightest home in our collection, but a lot of care has been invested in designing the lighting in this small home, so that it resembles an urban chalet. We particularly liked the brick wall in the bathroom and the chic kitchenette.

A lush cinema room is a rarity in any city and a first for us in Madrid. Due to the cosy nature of Cinemateca (and a vast selection of movies to watch), we wouldn't recommend it to someone with a big bucket list of things to see in Madrid – we suspect you'll be tempted to stay in most nights. But if you do venture out, you'll find yourself in only minutes away from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, which will make sightseeing pleasant and effortless. Did we mention that the master bedroom has a massage bath? We're pretty sure this is one of our favourites.

This home is a prime example of rustic elegance – we could tell that the host had a vision and pulled all the stops in order to achieve it. The harmony of wood and wicker not only looks good, but also creates a warm atmosphere, working in partnership with the well-stocked kitchen and the soothing bathrooms. The Wickers Elephant is only a few minutes away from Plaza Mayor, which means you'll be just around the corner from Marid's most famous sights.

When we go to some places, it’s obvious that they are destined to be Plum homes. Such is the case with Cape Route. It’s a lovely flat, with an elegant aesthetic that never feels too over the top. It’s also practical – the kitchen in particular is well-equipped and seems like it could handle everything. Outside the flat is just as good – the building is newly renovated, with twenty-four-hour security (and a very cute communal courtyard), and you’re right on the border of Salamanca and Chueca, so there’s plenty to do.

A smarter, more sophisticated home in this sought-after part of Salamanca, you're unlikely to find. Set in a beautifully renovated period building, it comes with 19th Century high ceilings, tall windows and Juliet balconies, but also with a generous helping of modern glamour. Think chic furnishings, gorgeous wood floors and a striking flame effect fire built into panelling in the living room wall. 

We love the flow here, with a spacious, sociable living room moving through to a dining area with a sleek, contemporary kitchen off it. There's everything you'll need to cook special meals at home and views out over the street from one side and over the pretty, internal courtyard to the other. Two big bedrooms and bathrooms offer enough space for a group of up six, and it's perfect for a family or a group of friends here to experience this beautiful city.

And have we mentioned the added bonuses in this building? Grab a bottle of wine in the evening and head up to the lovely shared roof deck, or spend the afternoon bobbing around in the communal rooftop pool. There's even a fitness room if you're feeling inspired.

This cosy apartment is in a wonderfully convenient location, just five minutes from Puerta del Sol and eight minutes from Retiro. If your feet get tired exploring Madrid’s sights, hop on the metro – you’re just a few minutes from Antón Martin and Atocha metro stations. The apartment itself is petite but practical, though two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed. We think the location more than makes up for that though – after all, with so much on your doorstep, you won’t be lounging in bed all day.

This city-centre apartment packs a colourful punch. Filled with natural light from the floor to ceiling balcony windows looking out across Chueca, the open-plan space makes a great place to spend downtime in between sightseeing.

The home's open-minded and friendly neighbourhood of Chueca is the heart of Madrid – the perfect location to explore everything the capital has to offer. Some of the most sought-after sites, including the inspiring Prado Museum and El Retiro Park's boating lake, are just a fifteen-minute walk away. A short metro journey will take you to Madrid's other main attractions – we recommend the Royal Palace of Madrid, an ornate 18th-century structure, in particular.

Or perhaps, even before – arrive to be welcomed by the building’s opulent façade dating to the 1880s. Inside, it’s all about style and comfort. We love the high ceilings, light-filled interiors and gorgeous furnishings. The open-plan living and dining area is perfect for kicking back at the end of a long day of exploring. Snuggle up on the sofa or gather at the dining table for a delicious feast you can easily rustle up in the modern kitchen. 

A night of restful sleep will find you in one of the two plush bedrooms, including one with an en-suite bathroom. Wake up feeling restored and ready for more exciting adventures – with the Royal Palace and all the historic sights on your doorstep, you won’t have to venture far to sample Madrid at its finest.

Geometrics is close to a lot of trendy bars, restaurants, and cool vintage shops, so you’re in great hands when it comes to experiencing and exploring some that dynamic Chueca atmosphere. While the home doesn’t benefit from a lot of natural light, it’s beautifully designed with a focus on patterns and curated splashes of colour. We also really love the addition of the beautiful Wishbone style chairs.

The Spy's opulent details, like the stained glass windows and purple velvet dining chairs, ooze character. If you love a good view, this plant filled balcony comes with binoculars to get a better look across the Chueca rooftops. The photos don’t do the master bedroom justice – we can’t get enough of its beautiful tiled floor, and the walk-in wardrobe is an added bonus. The host must be a bit of a neat freak – this is one of the cleanest homes we’ve seen.

The Spy

With the stunning green expanse of Retiro only a few blocks away and Madrid's most famous designer boutiques around the corner, Sol Invictus will set you up to see the best of the city straight away. This home has a fairytale air about it, courtesy of the golden details and antique imagery. The transparent doors between the bedrooms and the living room help the natural light get through, but they also mean that there isn't much privacy – maybe not the best option for a business trip.  But for a group of friends or a family, it's a great, comfortable stay.

Style, comfort and spectacular proportions meet at this impressive home in Chueca. Decked out with trendy vintage furniture and striking artworks, the ground-floor apartment is a masterful demonstration of how to fill large spaces. The main living area boasts high ceilings and four French doors that fill it with light – with separate lounging and dining areas, this is likely where you'll spend most of your time.

The kitchen has been given a modern upgrade, fitted with sleek white units and blue-tiled floors. Whip up quick breakfasts to serve at the breakfast bar, and spend sunny evenings trying your hand at Spanish cooking with the double doors thrown open. There's also a separate office with an antique desk, ideal for those hard-working guests who can't quite leave work at home.

Sitting in one of Madrid's liveliest neighbourhoods, this pad is steps away from an eclectic assortment of restaurants and bars that spill onto the pavements. Stock up on fresh produce at the San Antón and Plaza del Dos markets, and venture over to the art triangle – the Prado is just fifteen-minutes – for a culture-filled afternoon.

The terrace is the first thing that strikes you about Sail-Shade, so let’s not dwell on that. The living room is lovely, and the rest of the place is very comfortable, if not particularly ground-breaking. The atmosphere is almost like a hotel – you have both a twenty-four-hour reception, and a daily cleaning service – but that also goes the other way. The flat is missing some of the character that you’d expect if it were actually someone’s home.

Housed in an old book-bindery, this apartment is loft-style living in the heart of Madrid. You can still feel the evidence of industry in the exposed brick wall, timber-beamed ceiling and pipes and pillars on display. The double-height living area is open-plan and feels spacious with its big L-shaped sofa and dining table for six. The kitchen is separate and lets light in through old wooden windows with a Juliet balcony. Up on the mezzanine level, there’s another dining area and a day bed that acts as the perfect, quiet reading spot. The bohemian design is a perfect match for the neighbourhood. La Latina is home to Madrid’s most famous flea market and bursting with trending tapas bars and taverns, all easily reachable on foot.

This bright and colourful home boasts high-quality materials, bursts of colour in all the right places and plenty of space to play around with. Your hosts have expertly created a place that feels like home without compromising on contemporary design. We loved the funky patterned rugs and stylish furnishings. The sleek, no-fuss kitchen is equipped for light breakfasts or quick lunches – the perfect setup for adventurous types who are always on the go. When you’re ready and raring to explore, Madrid’s best bits are within easy reach of your doorstep. It’s a ten-minute walk to the leafy El Retiro Park and a little over five to the famous Gran Vía, where shops, theatres, bars and restaurants await. For trips further afield, the Chueca metro station is just 400 metres down the road.

Combining the cosy comforts of a home with all the amenities of a hotel, this sleek apartment is a delightful escape. The kitchen is modern and bright, with a huge island that makes cooking a dream. After a busy afternoon exploring, we loved planting ourselves on the barstools, sipping sangria and nibbling on tapas. In the living room, a glossy wood floor and wicker accents add touches of warmth, while the French doors open onto a small Juliet balcony that overlooks leafy Calle del Almirante. We also loved the location – it's a residential neighbourhood bursting with Madrid character, upscale restaurants, chic bars and independent shops. For a night on the town, buzzing Chueca is a five-minute walk and has a charming array of sidewalk cafes, trendy eateries and lively nightlife. Five minutes in the other direction is Recoletos Station, so zipping around the rest of Madrid is a breeze.

This minimalist home with a breath of rustic chic is located right only minutes away from the famous Puerta del Sol on one end, and Plaza Mayor on the other – perfect for those in search of that perfect location. This home was built with comfort and functionality in mind, but there are a few design touches that make us excited to have it in our collection. We loved the master bedroom's cosy balcony and the futons in the living room.
