The home itself is simple but has everything you need for an extended stay – the terrace stood out to us in particular as a spot to get some privacy while still enjoying the sun. The large communal pools will be a real hit with the kids, and golf enthusiasts will be pleased to know there are two courses nearby. And if you want to hit the coast, Puerto Banús is just a short drive.

This villa is exactly what you’d expect from a pad on Marbella’s Costa del Sol. It’s modern, minimal and luxurious. The outside is the star of the show here, featuring a large pool, a hot tub and a sauna. This recently refurbished Andalucian villa has all the ingredients you could want for a relaxing break in the Spanish sunshine. We can't really start with anything other than the swimming pool that takes up most of the garden, which is overlooked by palm trees and surrounded by loungers.

It's fair to say that you could spend the bulk of your time outside, but that would be being the modern interior a disservice. There are only four sunloungers, so you may need to pop your towel on one to claim it, but there's a sofa and dining area as well. We love that the bedrooms open out onto the balcony too. This development is within walking distance of San Pedro de Alcántara with its restaurants, bars and beaches, while glitzy Marbella is around a twenty-minute drive away.
