Take in the vistas of one of Málaga's picturesque churches, San Juan, from this home's sunny rooftop terrace (accessed via a spiral staircase). There's also a small balcony (standing room only) from where you can watch the world go by on the street below. On that note, you're likely to hear some city noise here, but that's to be expected because this home's location is excellent. You'll find the Catedral de la Encarnación de Málaga, the Museo Carmen Thyssen and the Plaza de la Constitución, all within a short walk.

Located only a five-minute walk away from Malaga town centre, this bright home overlooking a vibrant street also has a view of the beautiful 15th century San Juan church. Seeing its baroque tower is reason enough to spend big chunks of time out on the balcony, but we’ll give you a couple more anyway. For one, romantic dinners could be had by candlelight as the stars come alive up above. The balcony also makes for a great reading spot for bookworms wanting to spend some time on their own with a freshly brewed coffee and a holiday romance novel. 

Come inside through the traditional Andalusian floor-to-ceiling doors to admire the exposed beams and vaulted ceilings as you sink into the sofa. Grab a bite in the compact kitchenette before handling a few work emails at the little workstation and head out after to explore the beautiful city. The Alcazaba fortress with lush gardens and a sea view is only a ten minute walk away. Stop off there for a backdrop to the perfect holiday group photos and head to the beach after for salty surf and sandy beaches.

Soak up gorgeous views from the roof of Málaga Cathedral, put your art appraising skills to the test at the Picasso Museum, or sit back and relax at Malagueta Beach. Whatever your day has in store, this place has got you covered.

Located a fifteen-minute walk from the Centro Histórico, this apartment is perfect for first-time travellers or repeat visitors. Malagueta Beach is only a short car ride away, but if you’d prefer to cool off at home, make a beeline for the plunge pool on the private terrace. Just a heads up, there isn't much storage space here, so you may want to pack light. Plus, there isn't an oven here, only a hob – though we think you’ll do most of your eating out at the restaurants on your doorstep.

This beautiful townhouse in the centre of Malaga has seen the city change over the centuries. From the doorstep, you can step into the warren of atmospheric old streets that make up the historic city centre, yet the beach is just a five-minute stroll away. Four floors of antique furniture and southern Spanish charm greet you on arrival and the Moorish-style kitchen certainly caught out eye. The crowning glory has to be the private terrace, looking out over the rooftops of the city, dappled with greenery and home to a bar area, day bed, dining spot and lounge seating.

This two-storey Gibralfaro apartment places Malaga at your fingertips, making it ideal for both sun lovers and those who like to holiday in the city. Although the interior isn't the most stylish in our collection, it's all about the incredible view here, with several spots to relax on the terrace and take in the view. The upstairs bedroom even has a private balcony, perfect for newlyweds who want some privacy. The communal pool is also sure to be a crowd-pleaser. That said, with the nearest beach only 2km away, you might want to spend most of your time there.

Sitting pretty up on the ninth floor of a modern building, this apartment is blessed with a truly stunning view of Málaga's marina and the Andalucian hilltops in the distance. Thankfully, there's a terrace from which you can take a seat and admire this wonderful scenery.

You can also catch a glimpse of it through the windows inside. Once you can prise your attention away from what's happening outside, you'll find an interior that's as fresh and contemporary as they come. Stark white walls and sleek surfaces in the kitchen work well with the copious amounts of natural light, while there are some stylish touches in the design that add some character – the pastel armchairs are particularly cute.

There's only so long that you can look out at the city's port and not be desperate to go for a swim. As luck would have it, the golden sands of Playa la Malagueta are only three minutes' walk away. You'll find plenty of seafront bars and restaurants in the local area, as well as the Centre Pompidou only two minutes from your front door on foot.

Magnificent Malaga is in many ways the perfect city break – it’s a walkable city with plenty to see and do, and there are beaches galore for when you want to cool off in the sea and get some R&R. Best of all, it’s home to beautiful apartments like this oh-so-special penthouse. 

This apartment can be found in the heart of the city, looking directly onto the Sagrado Corazon church. It’s stylish and quirky, with chic decor and some of the best views in town. Whether you’re cooking in the kitchen or taking a quick siesta, you’re surrounded by the view of church towers and picturesque rooftops. The crowning glory of this already wonderful penthouse is the terrace. A carefully landscaped space, this is where we’d be spending most of our time. The barbecue and dining table make it a haven for alfresco dining, with comfy sofas just calling out for cocktail hour. During the day, you can soak up the sunshine on the sun loungers, moving to the shade of an umbrella to sip lemonade when the Spanish sun gets too hot. 

As the sun begins to set, you’ll have the best seats in town. Watch the sky shift into pastel pinks and purples as the sun dips behind the church spires. You’ll never want to leave. 


The Emerald City

Ask anyone who knows a little bit about Málaga and they will tell you that Soho is the neighbourhood to stay in. Not only is it close to the old town and sandy beaches, but the local area has a creative spirit reflected in the number of galleries, restaurants and buzzy bars.

And it's where you'll find stylish homes such as this one. The apartment sits within a classical building and has a small balcony on which you can survey the streets below. Inside, the design is fresh and minimalist, with a pared-back colour scheme of blue and white used to striking effect. This approach continues in the super-sleek kitchen, although perhaps taken a little too far when it comes to the limited space and equipment.

All throughout the home, there are coastal artworks hanging on the walls and if this gives you the inspiration to head over to the seaside, both Playa de Huelin and Playa la Magala lie just twenty minutes away on foot. The city's marina is only five minutes' walk away too and makes for a lovely setting for a sunset stroll.
