You can also catch a glimpse of it through the windows inside. Once you can prise your attention away from what's happening outside, you'll find an interior that's as fresh and contemporary as they come. Ok, so the kitchen is a bit basic, but with an outlook like this, are you going to be focused on that? Best of all, the beach is only 20 metres away, while within a ten to fifteen-minute walk, there are attractions such as the Picasso Museum, the cathedral and the Cervantes Theatre.

Why have walls when you can just have windows instead? That's the question that this apartment in the centre of Malaga poses and you'll be inclined to agree with the architect's decision to have floor-to-ceiling glass running along the far corner of the open-concept living area.

Not only does it flood the interior with natural light, but it also looks out to a colourful view of treetops, hillsides and the blue sky up above. As an added perk, you can slide the glass doors open to turn your dining table into an alfresco setting.

The design throughout lies on the contemporary side, with stark white walls, wooden floors and a deliciously minimalist kitchen making the home feel instantly bright and welcoming. Add to that some equally pared-back bedrooms and a pair of super-sleek bathrooms, and we defy anybody not to fall head over heels for this address.

The apartment boasts impressive views of the Mediterranean Sea, and the interiors are bright and contemporary. That said, you'll likely spend most of your time on the beach and exploring the surrounding area. If you’re planning to cook at home, then we’d say the kitchen is a bit on the small side, as it houses the dining table too, but with all the many restaurants and beach chiringuitos nearby, will you want to eat in much? Best of all, Playa de la Malagueta is just 20 metres away and the city centre with all of its attractions is a fifteen-minute walk.

Positioned in the seafront neighbourhood of La Malagueta, this home is just a twelve-minute stroll from the beach and a ten-minute walk from Malaga's historic centre. It sits on the ninth floor of a high-rise, tucked away from the hustle and bustle, and offers views across the Cathedral, harbour and out towards the Alboran Sea.

Though compact, the interior is contemporary and welcoming, providing an idyllic base for couples and solo travellers. White walls and an open-plan layout create a free-flowing ambience primed for relaxation, complemented by heaps of natural light streaming through the large windows. With a fully equipped kitchen, cosy lounge and nifty breakfast bar, there are all the bells and whistles for a comfortable stay. From the doorstep, you can step into the warren of atmospheric old streets that make up the historic city centre, yet the beach is just a five-minute stroll away. Four floors of antique furniture and southern Spanish charm greet you on arrival and the Moorish-style kitchen certainly caught out eye. The crowning glory has to be the private terrace, looking out over the rooftops of the city, dappled with greenery and home to a bar area, day bed, dining spot and lounge seating.

Located a fifteen-minute walk from the Centro Histórico, this apartment is perfect for first-time travellers or repeat visitors. Malagueta Beach is only a short car ride away, but if you’d prefer to cool off at home, make a beeline for the plunge pool on the private terrace. Just a heads up, there isn't much storage space here, so you may want to pack light. Plus, there isn't an oven here, only a hob – though we think you’ll do most of your eating out at the restaurants on your doorstep.

It's also worth noting that if six of you share, the last two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the lounge. Not ideal for some, but for a bolthole this central, we think it's a keeper.
