This beautiful, 250-year-old farmhouse has been lovingly restored to create a charming, peaceful retreat just outside the historic town of Alaior. Spacious and tastefully styled, it really is a cut above, especially in terms of its rural setting. The 160-acre farm estate it sits on has been thoughtfully rewilded to create a home for native flora and fauna – including the local red kites and wild tortoises. 

When you're not exploring the grounds, there's a stunning saltwater pool and a covered terrace where you can eat outdoors, taking in views across the lush gardens. Cooking can be done inside, in the smart country kitchen, or outside on the barbecue – both the rustic dining table and the outdoor table seat twelve comfortably. Elsewhere, bedrooms and bathrooms are spread across two floors and a small annexe, with plenty of flexibility if there are two or more families sharing. 

Having recently gained an agrotourism license from the local government, it has excellent eco credentials too – the well water is purified to make it safe for drinking and the home's hot water is heated by solar panels, while any water used in sinks and showers goes into a system to irrigate the lawns and gardens. 

By day you can swim in the pool or play on the private tennis court, explore the land or head to the nearby town – just seven minutes away by car – for lunch. Just a fifteen-minute drive from the airport, you'll be in the heart of rural Menorca here. Mahon is around twenty minutes away and the coast is even closer – we recommend the dreamy, white-sand beach at Son Bou.

A fifteen-minute walk from Binibeca's restaurants, bars, and beaches, this villa is a laid-back option on Menorca's southeast coast. The outside space is perfect for soaking up the rays. While kids splash in the private pool, grown-ups can relax on the covered terrace with an ice-cold Pomada. Some of the elements inside are a bit traditional for our liking – particularly the kitchen – but the ground-floor layout is ideal for guests who struggle with stairs. We think it's a good option for a family getaway.

This relaxing abode provides a lovely base for exploring the glorious bay of Arenal d'en Castell. Sitting up in an elevated spot, this home features a gorgeous view of the bay below, and also sits just a short path from the lush beach, where you'll find dreamy golden sands and calm turquoise waters. Inside the home is simple and modern – there are no bells and whistles here, but just a lovely home-from-home to return to after long days spent in the sunshine. The outside is where this home truly shines, however, with a lovely private pool as well as a shady covered terrace and traditional barbecue area.

San Climente, only a few minutes by car, has markets, bars and bakeries aplenty, making the location a standout aspect of this house.

This hidden paradise is nestled in 30 hectares of Mediterranean forest, just a short drive from the port of Mahón. From here, you can embrace total relaxation while lounging by the pool or walking barefoot through the grounds. There is also a terrace with a barbecue, a padel court and a range of experiences on offer for an additional fee – including horseback riding and yoga sessions. Inside, the rooms are spread across the main house and three independent suites. Housekeeping is included in your stay and your host can arrange sweet extras like daily breakfast and grocery deliveries. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a ten-minute drive to Sa Mesquida beach and Mahón city centre.

This villa lies in Binbeca, one of Menorca's most sought-after locations, a short walk from the nearest beach and restaurants. With a private pool lined with sun loungers, an outdoor dining area, and a garden with a basketball hoop, this home is great for a family getaway or a holiday with friends. A car isn't necessary to have a great time, but the island's capital Mahón is just a short drive away if you want to explore a little further afield.

This is one of the oldest farmhouses in Menorca and you can feel the history in the vaulted ceilings and thick stone walls inside. The walls and old stone fireplace may have been whitewashed like a traditional Balearic farmhouse, but the furnishings are modern and ooze style. Relaxing in the cool of the living room is a delight with pops of neon pink and lipstick red livening up the room. The kitchen has that old farmhouse feel to wood-panelled cabinets and a Belfast sink, but the lick of turquoise paint sings of summer holidays and vibrant evenings together. Archways link several seating areas where the group can spread out.

Heading outside, you’re met with the scent of lavender bushes and twisting olive trees feel as though they’ve been here as long as the old farmhouse. The gardens are bursting with herbs and wildflowers, so you can listen to the happy buzz of bees while taking your morning coffee at one of the many seating spots outside. A long dining table in the shade of the veranda invites you to linger for long lunches in the sun. Once you’ve digested thoroughly to the chirp of crickets, slip into the serene swimming pool to cool off.

It’s a short drive to the coastal town of Santo Tomas where a long, sandy beach awaits. Plus, along this stretch of the Menorcan coast, you’ve got Bini Gaus Beach and an ancient cave the size of a cathedral to explore. 

The Wildflower Harvest

In the quiet hamlet of Son Ganxo, this villa offers the best of both worlds with easy access to the popular Punta Prima resort. There are a few restaurants close by, but if you feel like cooking then you’ll find a brick barbecue in the beautifully lawned garden. There’s no need to rent a car here thanks to the mini train that takes you to neighbouring resort of Binibeca. If you’re travelling with kids, there are plenty of activities to keep them entertained, with a water park and sandy beach both within walking distance.

This newly renovated property in the popular resort of Cala'n Poter is a must-see. With stunning sea views and just a short walk from local amenities and the beach, it's perfect for smaller groups or couples. The property boasts two modern bedrooms, both with double beds and air conditioning, as well as a cosy living room flooded with natural light and open-plan to the kitchen area. The panoramic terrace is where guests will spend most of their time, taking in the spectacular views while enjoying homemade cocktails and BBQ lunches made with delicious fresh produce from the nearby supermarket. For even more breathtaking views, guests can head to Cova de Xoroi, a fantastic cliffside bar with hightop sea views and evening entertainment. Please note that off-road parking is available but accessed via a narrow road only suitable for smaller cars, and the villa has limited kitchen facilities.

Situated just a ten-minute walk from the centre of Porto Cristo, this apartment is in an excellent location which offers the tranquillity of being near the edge of the forest but also the convenience of plenty of local amenities including a supermarket, restaurants, bars, and even a bakery – perfect for buying fresh breakfast pastries. Start your mornings here with a café con leche at the kitchen’s breakfast bar or take your fresh jugo de naranja outside and enjoy it in comfort on the pergola-shaded terrace. 

Sandy beaches are also close by to this home and can be reached in as little as fifteen minutes on foot. So why not spend several hours basking in the sunshine as you recline on the soft sands and listen to the soothing sounds of ocean waves?

Take a dip in the complex’s swimming pool before relaxing in your own small, private garden with your favourite holiday read. Then, in the evening, enjoy a tapas meal alfresco on the terrace or take full advantage of the home’s barbecue and cook some delicious Spanish pinchos.

Due to its secluded location, we’d recommend having a car as the nearest supermarket and restaurant is 2 kilometres away in Artá. Other attractions include Beach Canyamel 9 kilometres away, while there’s a golf course 4 kilometres from this home.

The architects of this apartment had indoor-outdoor living at the forefront when designing this space. A wall of glass gives way to the outside space where a bistro set up calls for slap-up suppers that last well into the evening. 

Inside, white-washed walls and natural textures combine to create a relaxing environment that’s a pleasure to relax in. We particularly loved the pink striped couch, adding a touch of whimsy to the place. When you’re not penning smug postcards at the dining table, you’ll be strolling along the soft sands of S'illot Beach or taking day trips to the charming towns of Portocolom on the east coast, reached in thirty minutes by car, and Alcúdia in the north, less than an hour’s drive away.

This traditional Mediterranean-style villa is perched on a sloping hill, overlooking the sea, just moments away from the beach and the fishing village of Binibeca, with its cafes and restaurants. When it comes to a great location, it's hard to improve on this home, especially when you factor in the tranquillity you'll enjoy here. With a huge pool, an outdoor dining area and a bright, comfy interior, there’s everything here to guarantee a relaxing stay. 

Bright Like The Sun 

Families – this one’s for you. This villa even has a master suite with its own lounge and kitchen, perfect for grandparents who might need a little break from family fun. The decor inside is on the traditional side, with heavy wooden beams and tiled floors, and while it’s not the most modern, it’s charming and functional. We love the dining terrace with sea views, and, of course, the pool. You’ll be within easy walking distance of Punta Prima’s sandy beach, and you can hire pushchairs from your host to make travelling with the kids a bit easier.

This tranquil farmhouse is tucked away in the scenic and wild mountain landscapes of Mallorca, in the picturesque medieval town of Artá. We think it's a good choice for small families wanting a quiet stay in nature, as your host can provide some free baby equipment. The private pool and sun loungers let you enjoy views of the castle over the mountains, and the charming weekly market is around 2km away. The road up to the home isn't in the best condition, so you'll need a larger car for the terrain. It's not far to drive to the nearest beaches and golf courses on Mallorca's coast, though.

Midsummer's Magic

This modern abode is situated on Menorca, a small Balearic island in the Mediterranean Sea. It’s a single-storey home with ramp access, so we think this is a great option for those with limited mobility. With its open-plan U-shaped design and sliding glass doors onto the terrace and pool, it was made to enjoy the sunny Spanish weather. The furnishings might be a bit basic, but they work just the treat, as you’ll spend most of your time exploring the local area or swimming in the private pool. You’re just 30 metres from the ocean and a few minutes’ drive from the sandy beach of Punta Prima, with seaside shops, restaurants and pubs within walking distance.

High on the hillside above the restaurants, shops and cafes of Son Bou – this coastal villa overlooks panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea from almost anywhere in the home. You’ll find this traditional Mallorcan style home a seven-minute drive from Porto Cristo, a picturesque fishing village on the island’s eastern coast. And locations don't get much better either. You can be swimming off the sandy shores of Cala Millor or mooching along its seafront promenade bustling with restaurants and bars in just an eight-minute stroll.

Though you might find all you need back at home. Perfectly geared to alfresco living, sunny mornings call for lazy breakfasts on one of the two furnished outdoor terraces before a cool dip in the pool. And if you think the garden looks pretty now – wait till you see the festoon lights flicker on at night. It's a magical place to spend evenings with sundowners and a barbecue.

When it's time to beat the heat, there are heaps of activities to keep everyone happy indoors. A games cabinet stacked with toys and a games console should keep the kids (and big kids) busy or crash out with a movie in the cosy living area. 

Well suited for friends or family sharing – bedrooms are spaced out over two floors to give guests that extra bit of privacy and united by the same pared-back and calming palette. We don't know about you, but it all sounds pretty dreamy to us.

If beachfront is what you're after, this Cala Ratjada villa certainly delivers. Offering direct access to the promenade from the garden, you'll be able to roll out of bed and stroll straight down to the sea – sounds dreamy, doesn't it? And don't get us started on the spectacular views. Whether you're barbecuing on the patio, swinging in the hammock, or lounging on the roof terrace, you'll have a front-row seat to watch the tide roll in. Rustic charm abounds in the living room, though some other spaces (especially the bathrooms) are a bit dated. That said, with easy access to Cala Ratjada's beach and restaurants, we don't think you'll mind.

Sleek and contemporary, this Porto Cristo villa is a far cry from the traditional fincas dotted across Mallorca. Its minimalist interior is spread across multiple floors and flooded with natural light. There's plenty of room for a family – especially in the breezy living area, which has a glimpse of the sea. But it was the sun-kissed terraces that caught our attention. Between the private pool, alfresco dining area and balcony off the main bedroom, it's no surprise you'll spend most of your days soaking up the rays. A bevvy of bars and restaurants are nearby, as are a rocky cove and the famous Drach Caves, although you'll need a car to explore the rest of the island.

Siesta by the Sea

Located on a hill between the towns of Son Carrió and Cala Millor, this authentic country villa is just a short drive away from some of the best beaches, hiking trails and cycling routes of Mallorca. Surrounded by olive trees, the garden features a private swimming pool, a covered terrace with views overlooking the local nature and an alfresco dining area. Meanwhile, shadier spots can be found inside, where the stone-clad walls create a cool (and characterful) ambience. While the interiors lack modern charm and appear dated in parts, the designs here don't seem out of place, given the heritage of this traditional home.

Surrounded by warm-hued stone, this home’s beautiful patio is a special space. Relax here with a glass of wine or cool off in the spa area with its small pool and water blade – it’s particularly magical in the evenings. There’s a roof terrace, too, with lovely views over picturesque Artá, perfect for unwinding in the Mallorcan sun.

Inside, the modern features blend seamlessly with the old – think stone archways, beams and a traditional four-poster bed, as well as a contemporary kitchen and steel staircase.

This home is situated in the heart of pretty Artà, a town just a few kilometres inland from the northeast coast of Mallorca. It’s surrounded by the mountains of the Llevant Natural Park, so has wonderful vistas. On Tuesdays, there’s a weekly market, which is known for its local pottery. Other attractions in the area include the Bronze Age Talaiotic settlement of Ses Païsses, the Sanctuary of Sant Salvador, and the Caves d'Arta.



Swimming Under the Bridge

This home is over 100 years old and is full of charm. It’s been lovingly updated so the historic charm remains, but you’ll also find modern amenities like a hydromassage bathtub. It’s in an elevated position so offers excellent views of Mallorca’s countryside. Beautiful Artà is just 3 kilometres away, and is a lovely spot for tapas bars. You’ll need a car to get the most out of your stay here, unless you’re content to spend your stay dozing beside the pool and cooking on the barbecue for alfresco feasts – which certainly has its appeal.  

The Fairies' Home

This Menorcan home boasts a white stone patio with palm trees and a private pool as well as sunbathing, lounging and dining areas – perfect for taking advantage of that Mediterranean summer sunshine. The bedrooms are undoubtedly a little rustic and perhaps not as luxe as some might expect, though guests are bound to spend their time either in the light-filled living space or outdoors in any case. Location-wise, the charming fishing village of Binibeca, with its quaint cobbled streets and vibrant harbour, not to mention wine bars and tavernas, is only a short walk away.

Perched amongst the white rocky cliffs above the bay of Cala en Porter, you will be welcomed into this villa with open arms and breathtaking views. Designed for serene relaxation, dip into your private plunge pool for a little respite from the heat of the divine sun. Suitably refreshed, return to your sun lounger with a glass of bubbles in hand and your holiday read – although it may be a little hard to focus on the words on the page with those blue views stretching out before you. 

Inside is just as lovely, but, cleverly, doesn’t try to distract from the beauty outside the window. Modern and simplistic in decor, the homely feel comes from natural materials in the form of warming woods and stone features. Walk-in showers, bright bedrooms and private terraces overlooking the coast create a calming atmosphere for a restful night's sleep. In the morning, enjoy breakfast alfresco as you sip a coffee and absorb the fresh sea air. Also perfect for an evening meal, make use of your barbecue for a relaxed dinner with your loved ones watching the sunset turn to a starry night sky. 

Ideally located with bars and restaurants within walking distance, whenever you fancy a night off cooking you can indulge in the local cuisine with ease. This contemporary villa really is the perfect hub to enjoy the magnificence of Menorca.  

As Far as the Eye Can Sea

This four bedroom villa may not have the biggest shared spaces but its central location makes up for that. Situated close to the heart of popular Cala en Forcat, you’ll find numerous shops, bars and restaurants, a waterpark and a sandy cove all within easy reach. Unless you want to explore further afield, you can do without car hire here. Life at the villa itself with no doubt revolve around the enclosed garden. With a small pool, plenty of loungers, a barbecue and an outdoor eating area, this sociable space is a great place to relax and unwind.

Villa Menorca

Close to several pretty coves, this villa is perfect for dropping your bags and heading straight to the coast. The floating stairs might be intimidating for some, but you'll find a ground-floor bedroom available here, and should any of the rooms start to feel a little too small, you can spread your legs poolside, where you'll also find a stone-built barbecue and terrace table for alfresco dining. Those travelling with kids can head to the waterpark for the day, and the observation deck, Mirador des Vermells, makes for a pretty backdrop to a family photo. 

Phthalo Green

Ideally located in a peaceful spot on Menorca's west coast, and with many restaurants, bars and even a waterpark right on its doorstep, this holiday home is perfect for a fun-filled stay with family and friends. Outside, the pool area provides plenty of places to make the most of the Menorca weather, and there's a covered dining terrace for feasts in the shade. The inside may be a little dated, but it's got a quintessentially Spanish vibe in the terracotta tiled floors and beam ceilings that give it some character, and it makes a laidback home-from-home when exploring this pretty part of the world.
