There's movie-quality magic to this secluded hacienda in Ibiza, from the interiors worthy of a magazine to enough entertainment to keep all members of your party engaged. We noticed the architecture first, with native Sabina wood ceilings and arched white walls sheltering eclectic pieces like a cowhide chair and Native American headdresses. For the performers in your group, there's a grand piano in the living area – or plug a phone into the sound system to play more professional beats. Bedrooms each deliver a sense of serenity, courtesy of pastel colour schemes and reclaimed wooden furniture.  But you won't want to hang out alone for too long – the infinity pool is surrounded by daybeds, while the built-in stone barbecue has carved-stone seats for everyone to keep an eye on the action. To amp up the energy, there are pétanque courts, table tennis and foosball tables and a basketball hoop. The location is great too – located between San Rafael and San Antonio, it’s perfect for exploring the whole Island.

Indoor-outdoor living is something often seen and rarely perfected – but we think this villa gets it pretty much spot on. The seamless transition from the living area to the garden lounge is aided by glass walls, marble walls and seascape paintings, meaning that even the bedrooms feel like part of the surrounding landscape. Ibiza’s beaches are just a five minute drive away, though we think you’ll have trouble tearing yourself away from this home. Here even the most luxurious of treats, like a dip in the infinity pool overlooking the sea or al fresco dining as the sun goes down, become everyday events.

Before the super clubs and beach bars, there were rolling hills, orchards, and fruit groves. This home is a taste of old Ibiza. The Ibiza where time stands still and the loudest sound is the twitter of birds, rather than the thump of base. This farmhouse has been classically restored, ensuring that its bucolic charm is firmly intact. An open stone fireplace, white sofas, and antique furniture dominate the living space, which leads through to a cream kitchen. Bedrooms are equally as minimalist, with curved French doors and linen curtains creating an oasis of calm. The real show is out in the leafy gardens. Not one, but two swimming pools are on hand for cooling off from the Mediterranean sunshine. Wander through the palms to find a tennis court or head up to the yoga deck to stretch out any lingering tension. The curved white walls and winding steps also harbour secrets, whether it's a small courtyard with a fountain and sun  lounger or the built-in BBQ and bar for coming together in the evening.

Perched on the hills near Sant Josep, this traditional finca is a real head-turner. It holds true to its roots, with rustic stone walls, terracotta roof tiles and exposed beams, but the owners have brought it bang up to date with a sleek kitchen and polished concrete floors. There’s a touch of artistic inspiration here too, with flashes of ikat print, blue-painted wood and quirky sculptures (the centrepiece of the living room is a larger-than-life alabaster face). Lovely as the inside is, you’ll undoubtedly spend most of your time in the garden. With clouds of pink blossom scenting the air, and an impossibly blue sky overhead, it’s easy to feel like you’ve found actual heaven on Earth. There are so many outdoor chill-out areas it’s hard to know where to begin. Start with a sun lounger by the beautifully decked pool, or one of the covered daybeds if you prefer a little shade. Eat lunch at the palm-covered, pool-side dining table, and sundowners surely have to be taken on the superb roof terrace, where the views are to-die-for. The set up couldn’t be more perfect for groups holidaying together. Every room has its own en-suite and there are two separate apartments with their own entrances. When you’re ready to get out and explore (we won’t judge if you don’t), you’re 7km from the nearest beach and just 1km from the traditional Ibizan village of San Augustin.

Perched against the hilly slopes of St Agustin, surrounded by sandy beaches and vibrant villages like Sant Jordi and Sant Agustí (the restaurants here are a high point), this stunning villa brings to you some of the finer things in Ibiza. There’s also a lawn and fishpond to entertain the kids, as well as a pétanque court and there’s a gym with yoga mats, weights and a cross trainer. Inside, there’s a living area with a grand piano and we love the main suite with its fireplace and access to a terrace. There’s also an independent guest suite ideal for those wanting privacy. Location-wise, the family favourite, Port d’es Torrent, is within walking distance.

This beautiful and cozy little house is the perfect place to spend a romantic holiday in Ibiza. The house has a diaphanous design with open spaces and light, and offers magnificent views of the countryside, the mountains and the sea. The fully equipped kitchen is open, together with the living room form a single space. The room is separated from the rest of the house with an impressive floor-to-ceiling wooden teak sliding door. The terrace has a chill-out where the guest can contemplate nature and views relaxing  "al fresco". The house is surrounded by forest and a Mediterranean garden. In the garden, next to the centennial olive tree, we find a barbecue. The 10x4 pool has a wooden platform and comfortable hammocks where you can rest by the water. The pool is entirely for private use.

Just 150 metres away from the beach resort of Cala Tarida, this home lets you have it both ways. On the one hand, you have the nearby resort to mingle with locals and fellow travellers, while the villa provides a secluded retreat. With plenty of areas to relax in the sun and overlook the sea, we found this home to be relaxation personified. Here you can enjoy flexible sleeping arrangements by turning three of the twin rooms into doubles, while one of the bedrooms is in a separate apartment. Work on your tan in one of the many outdoor areas – we are especially fond of the daybed – or head out for a diving lesson and some water sports.

As you approach this home along the winding driveway, it's hard not to be impressed by its imposing stature, grand façade, and the bags of traditional Spanish character that it exudes through its elegant exterior and landscaped gardens. To call it a Finca is to do it somewhat of a disservice, given its rather more stately proportions. Yet, in spirit, this home is a Finca, but one which offers a taste of authentic Balearic life with all the mod-cons and added extras you could need for an extra special stay.

Recently restored with sensitivity and a keen eye for detail, you need only to set foot inside the carefully curated spaces of this home to see how your hosts have managed artfully to retain their original character. Glide across richly-coloured terracotta tiles from one expansive yet cosy feeling room to another, many of which have typical vaulted wood ceilings, finding your favourite spot among the many traditionally furnished corners to sit and bask in the afternoon sun, or cooking together in the country-style kitchen. Or, head outside to see arguably the most special part of the villa — its amazingly social outdoor areas. 

Fringed by ancient olive, lemon, and lime groves, the air here is sweetly scented with the light, earthy fragrances of summer.
