Sitting in a central spot to the south of the Seine, we're sure that you'll be just as smitten with this bright apartment as we are. There's a simply huge amount of natural light from the windows and doors that line the living space and this shines rather nicely off the stark white walls, wooden floor and sleek kitchen surfaces.

While it may not have the Haussmanian period charm of other homes in the French capital, the furnishings and finishes are all contemporary – even a little minimalist so in places – and there are no parts that we can identify as needing some urgent love and attention. There's plenty of room to kick back and relax after some serious sightseeing, while the smartly designed kitchen is plenty big enough should you decide you need a night off the city's famous restaurants.

Whenever you choose to leave the home, you'll be immediately greeted by the building's plant-filled courtyard, which is a pleasing pocket of green in the heart of the metropolis. Beyond that, it's easy to stroll over to some well-known attractions, including the Luxembourg Gardens and Les Invalides.

There are an array of attractions within walking distance of this apartment in Saint Germain including Les Invalides and the Jardin du Luxembourg. Some of Paris's leading museums are accessible on foot too – the Musée Rodin, Musée d'Orsay, the Musée de l'Orangerie and the Louvre to name just a few. With so much to see and do, you’ll be glad of a comfy and stylish home to return to. The living space is light and bright thanks to French doors leading to a Juliet balcony – this room also has a sofa bed for guests seven and eight. We love that each bedroom has an en-suite and two have a desk – perfect for when you need to work while away.

A masterclass in sumptuous style, this apartment in Paris’ Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighbourhood looks fit for royalty and offers a uniquely luxurious stay in the city. From its tall corniced ceilings to its parquet floors and draped French windows giving way to elegant Juliet balconies, there’s an air of sophistication the moment you walk through the door. If a central location in Paris is what you’re after, look no further than this apartment. The beautiful home sits in the 7th arrondissement, just a short stroll from the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsey. The building dates back to 1830 so you can expect some real old-world charm here. We love the chic decor and the large window overlooking the street. If you’re hoping for more space, we’d stick to a guest count of four to avoid guests five and six sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room.

For a truly unique experience of Paris, try staying in the 7th arrondissement of the city in an ancient religious house. As Marie Antoinette placed the first stone for its construction, this former convent is steeped in history. Its decor takes inspiration from these historic roots, with rustic beams in the bedroom and antique trinkets throughout. This traditional vibe continues with toile de jouy patterns on the curtains and dark wooden furniture. However, the bathroom is perfectly modern and beautifully designed – bright white tiles and a solid marble sink make the space feel stylish yet luxurious. While you've got painted scenes in gilded frames on your own walls, find more art and architecture from the old world at the Palais du Louvre, just fifteen minutes away. After gazing at the Mona Lisa, take a parkland stroll in the Jardin des Tuileries. Walking back over the Pont Royal, the Musée d’Orsay is the next gallery on your tour (only eight minutes from home). Finally, with the Musée Maillol just three minutes away, you’re truly living among the world’s finest art. As the Rue de Bac metro is under a minute from your hidden convent, you can continue to explore the city with ease.

With its French doors giving way to Juliet balconies, carefully chosen artwork and decorative fireplace, the living area is a sociable and sophisticated spot to gather, whether for a quiet afternoon on the sofa with a good book or in the evenings – perched by the windows – with a glass of wine. 

The kitchen, meanwhile, is warm and intimate with its dark wood details and chessboard-reminiscent herringbone cabinetry, inviting breakfasts over fresh coffee and croissants each morning and stylish soirées over locally bought cheese and bubbly. 

With two simple yet chic bedrooms to boot, as well as a luxurious rainfall shower in the bathroom, you’ve got everything you need to feel right at home.

There's plenty of space for six, though a period home like this does come with a few quirks – both bathrooms are en-suite and the kitchen is on the smaller side. In terms of location, however, you're in an excellent spot. Multiple metro stations are within walking distance – the closest is Vaneau, a five-minute stroll away – and you've got the cafes, restaurants, and boutiques in artsy Saint-Germain-des-Prés easily reached on foot.

Located on the Left Bank, this apartment is within walking distance of the Hôtel des Invalides, with its museums and monuments. Other places of interest accessible on foot include the Eiffel Tower and the elegant Bon Marché, Paris's oldest department store. This area also has some grand architecture, and you don’t have to go anywhere to admire it – the French doors here offer great views. We love that the living and dining room is bathed in natural light. It’s also worth mentioning that if you’re a group of eight, two people will be sleeping here on a sofa bed. This apartment is a sound choice for friends and familes.
