This cottage-style villa has plenty of character – we particularly like the imposing fireplace in the lounge and the elevated library in the master bedroom. Outside there’s lots of greenery, with a plant-filled terrace and small, lawned garden to enjoy. While the swimming pool is on the small side, the pretty surroundings mean it’s still a pleasant place to cool off. Location wise, you’re close to the centre of Loumarin, often voted one of the most beautiful villages in France, where you’ll find cobbled streets, an array of cafes and restaurants, and a bustling, weekly market.

We're not sure if BBC sent you here, but if you want a closer look at Mulberry House's kitchen, look no further than Rick Stein’s 'Secret France' featuring the smiley host making a delicious meal here — and were absolutely expect your to try to recreate it! This is a typical French hilltop chateau, but this doesn't mean it's ordinary. The casually welcoming atmosphere is a product of modern furniture and restored period features, the kitchen being the best example of this harmony. Still, we expect you to spend much more time around this home than in it. With the huge pool that's perfect for a morning splash and the futuristic loungers around it, a gorgeous dining spot under the pergola, and a breezy back garden, there are plenty of spots to socialise or reflect in peace. The host team that looks after this home is always available to help and organise those extra touches that will make your stay even more special. Set on a stunning country estate in the heart of Barbentane, this 18th-century house features an array of charming original features and modern amenities that guarantee a luxurious stay filled with memories. Wander around the hectare of grounds, where you'll find an abundance of fauna and flora amidst the rosemary and thyme gardens. Unwind on the surrounding lawns surrounded by Provençal plants, or better still, take a seat on the terrace shaded by the ancient trees.

The interior of the house has been sensitively restored. Classic features, including wooden beams, an open hearth and ornate tiles are maintained whilst modern finishes complement its original charm. There are plenty of spaces dedicated to relaxation inside the home - a serene living room with plush sofas or a calm master suite opening out to a Juliette balcony. We highly doubt a rainy day here, however, the pianist of the group can soundtrack evenings in front of the crackling fire if a shower does show.

Leisurely afternoons are best spent in the pool or lounging on the south-facing terrace. Come evening time, gather around the Mediterranean-style dining room for a chef-cooked dinner with the region’s best ingredients. End the evening with a few games of boules as the sunset unfolds.

Located around fifteen minutes from the centre of Avignon, you'll be within a short drive of an array of national parks and picturesque streets lined with boulangeries and local restaurants.

From its elevated position surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, you can admire far-reaching views. We love the heated swimming pool outside, and the bright and open style of the villa. Huge windows, plenty of seating, and a piano make the living room ideal for socialising. There are varied sleeping arrangements so the villa can easily accommodate large groups, with a quadruple family room that’s ideal for parents of little ones.

Provincial France is at its prettiest here with a little home with porcelain-white walls, countryside prints, and a wrought-iron bed embellished by a love heart. Part of a remote holiday resort, the home is surrounded by cobbled paths – follow one to find the communal pool that looks out over the dramatic mountain landscape, or go off-piste and hike a hidden trail through the forest. The area is known for its ochre quarries and striking red cliffs, and this can best be appreciated with a visit to Roussillon – named one of France’s most beautiful villages – which is just a mere four kilometres away. The home blends into the landscape with its terracotta roof, pale stone walls and garden with blossoming flowers and lush greenery, perfect for alfresco dining on the terrace as the sun peers through the surrounding trees. Spend lazy afternoons by the glistening pool, and if the sun gets to be too much, the veranda shaded by a canopy of branches is a great spot for a cool glass of rosé. Inside, the light interior is warm and welcoming with traditional features, exposed beams, an open-hearth fireplace for the cooler months and air-conditioning in most rooms. If you feel like getting active or heading on a day trip, there’s an array of scenic cycling paths and hiking trails nearby as well as an abundance of other notable sights including the villages of Joucas and Gordes and the Luberon Regional Nature Park.

A thirty-minute drive from the red rooftops of Avignon, this home allows you to explore the depths of the Provence countryside. In this wonderfully organic landscape, it’s hard to believe you’re just an hour from the metropolis of Marseille. So if lush, verdant scenery is more your thing, this home certainly won’t disappoint.

Jade, forest, emerald, lime, olive, mint – you can use every single word for green to describe the charming exterior of this home. From tall leafy trees, to flowerbeds, to shrubs that flow onto the stone paths, this garden is a botanical marvel set over a hectare. Of course there’s a private pool, but we prefer the shade of the terrace and the boules court. You’ll love having meals at one of many alfresco dining spots, especially when you can cook in the fresh air of the outdoor kitchen.

As the cicadas come out by night, head into the main house. Its wooden doors and shutters are green, naturally. Traditional, rustic decor harks back to this home’s days as a farmhouse, but antique furniture and gilded frames create a luxury edge. Someone will be sleeping in the annexe – but its indoor hot tub might sway opinions a bit.

This French château is situated on a working vineyard, with incredible views of the Arc Valley and Mount Sainte-Victoire. If you’d like to sample some of the local wines, your host can arrange a wine-tasting session. The home itself comprises a main house and a separate annexe, rented together. At full occupancy, four guests will be sleeping in single beds in the same bedroom – this room is best for kids who will love the colourful en-suite. The traditional decor here may not be to everyone’s tastes but we think most people will be won over by the views from the poolside. Location-wise, you’re surrounded by hiking trails and just 3 kilometres from the nearest town for shops, restaurants and bars.

And while there is no shortage of period charm here, do not worry about missing the conveniences of modernity – the home manages to retain its historic character while also boasting a range of luxurious features.

We love the tasteful and lovingly selected furnishings and unique art pieces to be found in each room – it is clear the host loves this home and wants to share it with his guests. 

Get inspired by the bright country-style kitchen and create delicious French feasts, to be enjoyed by the whole party at the opulent dining table. After a restful night of sweet dreams, courtesy of the plush and comfy bedrooms, step out onto the terrace with a cup of freshly brewed coffee and admire the stunning vistas around you. 

There is also plenty to be enjoyed in the area: from the village of Barbentane on your doorstep and the lovely county trails to the historic city of Avignon with its Papal Palace just a five-minute drive away.

This beautiful village house is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday in the Luberon region of Provence. The property is located on a hillside on the edge of Gordes, one of France's classified 'Plus Beaux Villages'. The Provençal valley views from the terraced grounds are incredible.

The house has been decorated with refined style and there's an authentic ambience across its elegant lounge, dining room and perfectly equipped kitchen with doors sliding open to the al-fresco dining terrace. Modern additions include air-conditioning throughout, a Sonos music system and Smart TVs in its mezzanine lounge and two of the three bedrooms.

Sleeping up to six guests, the bedrooms are gorgeous, one with a king-size double bed, wood-beamed ceiling and romantic rolltop bath, another with a queen-size double, sofa and en suite shower room and the third en suite with twin beds and lovely views through its little windows. 

Outside, the vistas of Provence will take your breath away whether you are enjoying a glass of Luberon AOC wine on the upper terrace or peacefully reading on the outdoor sofa beneath the poolside pergola. The swimming pool is superb for warm summer days when you don't wish to venture too far. We love the rustic charm of the terraced grounds with old stone steps, pretty pathways and swathes of summer colour.

Sitting in the middle of a thirteen-hectare plot, this lovingly restored farmhouse is the ideal option for living the full Provençal fantasy.

Behind the ancient stone walls, you'll find a tasteful mixture of period features, like the fireplace, window shutters and ceiling beams, and more modern additions — case in point, the elegant bathtubs and contemporary kitchen. One of our favourite spaces is the cellar that has been converted into an apéro bar complete with a foosball table.

When the weather's warm and bright — not too rare an occurrence in this part of the world — there are plenty of ways to make the most of this. In the garden, you'll find a swimming pool and plenty of loungers that look out over the French countryside, but there are equally wonderful views from the two stone terraces.

The surrounding region of Luberon is both beautiful and peaceful, something that's easy to discover for yourselves with the amount of hiking and cycling routes that start from the grounds. The village of Saignon is a five-minute drive away too and offers a boulangerie, art gallery and a twelfth-century church.

Within walking distance of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence's town centre, you'll discover restaurants, museums, and the region's grand market on your doorstep. Idyllic in every sense, the south-facing garden is perfect for sunbathing on the poolside terrace – although our favourite spot is the orangery, with its summer kitchen and light-filled living space. We love that multiple seating areas are spread across the main house, outdoor patio and a separate annexe, which is great for groups seeking to split off in their downtime. 

Reflections of Sunshine

Just two kilometres from this Provençal villa is the town depicted in a Van Gogh’s Starry Night. If that’s not enough to sell you on the scenic beauty of the green Avignon landscape surrounding the home, we’re not sure what is. Spacious enough for a family or group of couples and friends, the home is open-plan to adhere to sociable and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Start the day in the orangery with a traditional French breakfast and lounge in the shade under parasols by the pool. Find a place to hide in the secluded gardens, or get out and about for a hike in the nearby natural park for a rare bird sighting. Say au revoir to the day under the stars on the terrace.

When you stay at this apartment in La Ciotat, you’ll be just steps away from the Sunday market. It’s also under a five-minute stroll to the Old Port and fifteen minutes from La Ciotat’s beaches. The home itself has been renovated by an architect and includes a large living-dining room with a sofa bed, which guests five and six will be sleeping on. One thing to note is that there's air conditioning in the living space and the main bedroom only. There is also a children's bedroom with a bunk bed off the main bedroom, so this place is ideal for families.

We particularly love the covered terrace, it’s a wonderful place to start the day with your coffee. Or indeed, to toast the end of the day with a glass of something chilled, as the sun sets in the distance. Away from the apartment, you’ll find you’re perfectly placed amidst the pretty coastal town of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer. Ramble the nearby historic streets before finding a sunny spot in the charming town square for a lazy lunch and some people-watching. When it’s time to change up the pace, head to the beach for sailing, diving, watersports, and swimming. Or squeeze in a round of golf at the famous Frégate golf course, with its breathtaking views over the island of Embiez. Whatever you choose to do, it seems impossible not to relax here.
