Secluded in the French countryside, this beautifully restored villa is the perfect getaway for large groups. The traditional Provencal interior brings no shortage of space and comfort and the villa stands on 650 acres of land, giving way to olive groves and fruit trees as far as the eye can see. Eight bedrooms are within the main house, and a further three are situated in the separate cottage, known as the 'Bergerie', where you'll also find a separate kitchen - great for inter-generational groups or those wanting more privacy from the main house. The kids will love the private pool, and grown-ups can take advantage of the poolhouse seating whilst supervising. A short drive from the city of Montpellier, this villa offers fantastic views and plenty to do. We think it's a great choice for families and friend groups – it's bursting with amenities, including all-terrain bikes, a pétanque court, a heated infinity pool, and a gym and sauna. The dedicated office has a double sofa bed for two guests, and there are two EV chargers here for added convenience. We do recommend hiring a car here to make the most of your stay, whether it's exploring Montpellier or the village of Montferrier-sur-Lez, or spending a day at the beach.

Tucked away in the ancient heart of Montpellier, this sophisticated home blends its period features with modern styling. Set in among the warren of narrow streets, close to the opera, the cathedral and museums, it's a surprisingly quiet retreat. Here you'll climb the stairs to your apartment, set within a traditional building dating from the 1700s. And although it's been thoroughly modernised, you'll still see plenty of character details like high ceilings, exposed beams and pretty windows.

The sociable space is painted all-white, with a smart wood floor and a pretty well-equipped kitchen. There's a Juliet balcony in the living room and a sofa bed which boosts the capacity to up to four guests. A comfortable, stylish home in one of the best locations in town, we think you'll love it. We think it's ideal for a romantic getaway – children aren't permitted here, so you can take advantage of the peace and quiet. With your own Jacuzzi on the terrace and a private pool heated between April and October, it's well-equipped for alfresco living. We highly recommend hiring a car here to make the most of this gorgeous location, whether it's a day trip to Sommières or the bustling Montpellier.

Sitting on a pretty Provencal hilltop, this chateau doesn't waste this prime location. Step behind the formidable stone walls – some of which date back to the 12th century – and you're greeted with expansive rooms packed full of luxurious touches.

The arched windows and glass doors at the end of the open living room are nothing but generous when it comes to natural light, making for a lovely space in which to dine or lounge. Upstairs, the bedrooms and bathrooms are similarly lavish, especially the teak-wood four-poster beds and bathtub overlooking the outdoor space.

Speaking of which, the alfresco space at the address is pretty special, too. Overlooked by 800-year-old gargoyles, there's a small swimming pool lent a little tropicality from the neighbouring palm trees. The built-in charcoal barbecue makes it easy to whip up feasts in the summer months, as well.

When it comes to getting to know this famous region a little better, the local village of Aragon can be reached easily on foot and has some renowned restaurants for you to enjoy. To help you work up an appetite, there are lots of walking routes and outdoor activities to undertake in the nearby national parks, while La Franqui beach is only 65km away, too.

We don't debate that it can take up all your summer to simply scratch the surface of Languedoc. However, it would be a missed opportunity to not include a day trip to the walled city of Carcassone while you're here.

The Picpoul is regularly recognised as one of the top ten wines in the Languedoc – and the château itself deserves a few awards. It’s beautifully renovated, with sleek modern furniture sitting happily against a backdrop of original stone. Take a dip in the pool, sip a cocktail by the grand piano. Heck, you might even want to get hitched in the chapel. The secluded home is four kilometres from the nearest town of Montagnac, and there are more than enough wineries dotted around the countryside – all the way to the Med.
