Perhaps best of all, the bulk of Nantes' top attractions lie within walking distance from the home, from the peaceful île de Versailles five minutes' walk north to the charming old town that sits even closer. There's no end of restaurants, cafes and markets waiting to be discovered close by, too.

We love the natural light in this fun apartment near the centre of Nantes. On the third floor of a typical period building, it's in a great spot on a popular shopping street at the foot of Pommeraye Passage. Whether you're here for business or pleasure, and whether you're a solo traveller or a small family, it's sweet, sophisticated and we think it's pretty stylish.

Small but perfectly formed, its open living space is partly divided with a handy kitchenette, a sofa and a dining table that could double as a desk if you'll be working during your stay. There's a calm and quiet main bedroom, a shower room and a special extra space up the open ladder stairs in the living room – a mezzanine that could easily sleep a third guest. Facing a courtyard, it's an oasis of calm that we think you'll love.

Filled with natural light and boasting a cool, contemporary decor, the open-plan living space offers bird’s eye vistas across the city whether you’re kicking back on the sofa with a glass of wine or sitting down to a celebratory meal at the dining table. 

Our favourite feature, though, has to be the private terrace – ideal for starting mornings over alfresco coffees and croissants or sipping a sundowner as the light fades over the rooftops, you’ll love having this scenic outdoor space from which to contemplate your modern surroundings. 

Factor in the three comfortable bedrooms – one of which has access to the terrace and one which boasts a desk space – and you’ve got everything you need for a relaxing time.

Head up the stairs to find a charming bedroom, complete with generous storage space and a dedicated desk, should you need to catch up on some laptop duties during your stay. 

Outside you’ll find yourself just a short walk from the city and centre and all its landmarks, as well as many great shops and restaurants. You can also take the river shuttle across the Loire to the charming old fishing village of Trentemoult,  known for its colourful houses, traditional bistros and creperies.
