The open plan living and kitchen area feels quite spacious courtesy of the cathedral ceiling – by contrast, you’ll need to mind your head on the sloping ceiling of the bedroom which is tucked in the eaves. The courtyard is a quaint spot for a glass of wine of an evening, albeit shared with the building’s other guests. And while there’s no oven here, you’re surrounded by restaurants, so dining out is always on the menu.

The kitchen is quite narrow, but it’s well-equipped for creating some home-cooked meals and there’s room around the adjacent table for all your family or friends.

We love the open-plan layout of the home that amplifies the light and the sleek kitchenette with its stylish wooden bench table – ideal for breakfasts over fresh coffee and croissants as well as intimate sunset soirées. Behind the glass divider, you’ll find the beautiful bedroom with its scenic windows and inviting bed. There’s also a decadent bathtub here that beckons long soaks with a glass of bubbly after a day of exploring the city. Speaking of sightseeing, you’ve got countless points of interest within easy walking distance, including the Sacré-Cœur Basilica (ten minutes), the iconic Moulin Rouge (fifteen minutes) and the Musée de Montmartre (eight minutes).

If you're looking for a prime location within walking distance of the charming cobbled streets of Montmartre and the Sacré Coeur, then this apartment is ideal. You'll find a number of eateries and bars in the area and green spaces such as the Parc Clichy-Batignolles - Martin Luther King. Back at this home, we love the large French doors that open to the Juliet balcony. This place is a lived-in home, so expect some of the host's personal belongings around – if that doesn't bother you, it does help give this apartment a homely vibe.

The Parisian Lifestyle

We wouldn't want to bamboozle you into thinking that this home is larger than it actually is. In fact, it's rather – as the French say – petite. That being said, it could well be ideal for a couple or solo traveller looking for a simple base in a good location.

Behind the front door, the recently renovated space is bright and inviting, thanks in the main to the row of tall windows lining the walls that can be opened on warmer afternoons for some Juliet balconies. There's a simplicity to the design and the lounge area especially will be a relaxing spot after returning from a day of sightseeing. To be truthful, we don't think you'll be cooking much in the very limited kitchenette, but many might not see that as a major issue given you're in the middle of one of the most culinarily celebrated cities in the world.

The home's location is the big draw, with the quintessentially Parisian neighbourhood of Montmartre easily reached on foot, as well as the buzzy bars and cafes of Pigalle to the south. And with Place de Clichy metro station three minutes' walk away, it's just as convenient to travel over to the famous attractions in the heart of the city.

You’ll find this one-bedroom apartment just a short walk from the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and the Montmartre district. If you want some green space there are several parks nearby and, of course, plenty of restaurants and bars. Save some energy for getting up the stairs back to this home as it’s on the third floor with no lift. Once there, you’ll find a cosy room with French doors to a Juliet balcony. Guests three and four will be sleeping on a sofa bed in this room at full occupancy. This place is ideal for a family or couples looking for a fantastic address.

We love all the little details in this Montmartre flat, from the ornate crown moulding and elaborate ceiling roses to Juliet balconies on the big windows. There's no doubt it's charming, but it also has all the 21st-century comforts any traveller would crave – a kitchen stocked with cookware, a lavish rainfall shower in the en-suite and a desk for at-home working. As a bonus, there's even a view of the Eiffel Tower – it can't get much more Parisian than that.

Outside, Montmartre and its bohemian atmosphere await. Here, artists paint along the sidewalks and cafes, bakeries, eateries and art galleries line the winding, cobbled streets. It's Paris at its finest, and the views from Sacré-Cœur – just a thirteen-minute walk away – are pretty breathtaking. South Pigalle's bars and theatres aren't far if you're craving a night on the town, while a quick ride on the metro will get you around the city with ease – perfect if you're in town to sightsee.

This simple studio apartment in Montmartre is an ideal base for couples seeking to explore the streets of Paris. With limited storage space, we think this home is better suited for those who travel light – good thing there's a communal laundry room here. The double bed is made up of two singles pushed together, and the kitchenette is compact – you won't get up to much cooking. But we like the large windows (although the view isn't the greatest) and the location is fabulous. You're close to charming eateries, museums, and parks – not to mention the iconic Sacré-Cœur is also within walking distance.

This petite apartment is tucked away in a leafy private courtyard at the foot of Butte Montmartre. It’s on the ground floor and looks out onto the tree-lined courtyard, where you can sip your morning coffee and plan your day. The apartment is spread over two floors, but space and privacy are still limited, and you’ll struggle to prepare feasts in the tiny kitchenette. Luckily, you have Montmartre’s restaurants, cafes, bakeries and shops on your doorstep. For exploration further afield, hop on the metro at Lamarck-Caulaincourt.

As it’s a lived-in home, expect to see some of your hosts’ belongings dotted about, but there’s still plenty of room to accommodate you and your group. Our favourite feature had to be the private garden – a rarity in these parts. What's more, it’s equipped with a barbecue and a dining terrace for taking advantage of the warm weather. When you’re ready to venture out, the famous Sacré Coeur Basilica is reached in five minutes on foot, and the Lamarck – Caulaincourt is a short walk away.

Winding through the colourful, cobbled hills of Montmartre is the ultimate romantic vision of Paris. Imagine strolling just fourteen minutes from the Sacré-Cœur and right into your charming apartment. Set back in the heart of this iconic neighbourhood, in a beautiful 1860s Haussmann building, it’s hard to imagine a more typically Parisian abode. The interiors feel incredibly warm, traditional, yet also extremely sophisticated. Antique furniture sits comfortably on original wooden floors, and the marble fireplace is ready to light up the lounge (one of two in the home). It’s not often that we put a bathroom in such high esteem – its marble sink and rainfall walk-in shower just a few of the highlights. After exploring every corner of this apartment, it’s time to explore the area. Your locale is awash with bars, cafés, boutiques, and galleries. But a six-minute walk away, you can discover the entire city from the Lamarck - Caulaincourt metro stop.

Set on one of the charming cobblestoned streets that make Montmartre so famous, this apartment has a particularly desirable postcode with plenty of iconic attractions nearby. The interior is effortless, so fans of fuss-free interior design are well catered for here – however, you will find a few artworks hanging on the walls to pique your interest. The windows frame quaint Parisian street scenes, and you could while away the hours simply watching the world go by, fresh coffee in hand. The iconic Sacré-Cœur is less than ten minutes away on foot, and offers fantastic views over the city. Meanwhile, the cute cafés and artisanal shops that this area is known for do not disappoint, and you could easily lose yourself for a few days simply wandering as you munch on a crêpe from one of the street vendors. However, if you want to visit some other parts of the city, simply hop on the métro at Abbesses station – it's just two minutes away from your front door, and will whisk you into the city centre in no time.

We love the location in the heart of Montmartre, just a kilometre from Sacré Coeur and the Moulin Rouge. Yet it’s tucked away in a tree-lined courtyard, so feels peaceful. The stairs to the mezzanine-level bedroom are on the steep side, and the bedroom itself isn’t very private. But for a pleasant place to rest your head in between seeing the sights, we think this is a great choice.

Nestled in Montmarte, this charming home is an ideal base for a couple’s stay in the French capital. There’s no air conditioning here, but you can beat the heat in the summer months with the available fan, or better yet, throw open the balcony doors to let the fresh air drift in. The location of this apartment is what really caught our eye, though. A short stroll and you’ll find shops and cafes, while for more iconic sights, Basilique du Sacré-Cœur is a short distance away, as is the Moulin Rouge.

This is the ideal spot for a romantic retreat. Overlooking the rooftops of Montmartre and with an impressive view of the Sacré Coeur, the location is unrivalled. Facing East the home receives plenty of natural light throughout the day, creating a tranquil atmosphere. The windows in the living space aren't however, equipped with blinds, so the mezzanine level bedroom won't suit those who like to sleep in complete darkness. With an open-plan living space and high ceilings, the home feels perfectly spacious for 2 and is perfect for a couple on a weekend away.

Nestled in Montmartre, this home benefits from a quaint courtyard just perfect for your morning coffee – though it’s worth noting, you’ll share this space with the building’s other residents. Step inside, and you’ll find a cosy space perfect for two. You’ll need to mind your head on the sloping ceiling in the bedroom, but it’s a comfortable place to rest after a day of Parisian sightseeing. And while the kitchenette is basic with a microwave and stove, with some of Paris’ finest eateries on your doorstep, dining out is a breeze.

Montmartre Haven

Sitting on the outskirts of the quintessentially Parisian neighbourhood of Montmartre, this apartment might be a little more contemporary than many of the addresses found in the historic locale, but it's no less worthy of praise.

One of the first things you'll notice – or we did, at least – is the bountiful amount of natural light that the interior is treated to from the large windows that line the open-concept living area. This feature makes it a bright and fresh environment to spend time in, something also helped by the minimalist design, which bears a conspicuous Scandi influence. If we have a bone to pick, it's with the limited scope of the kitchenette, but there's just enough equipment for preparing simple meals.

When you want to see a little more of the local area, the famous Moulin Rouge is less than five minutes' walk away and is one of a good number of entertainment venues and restaurants nearby. The similarly iconic Sacré-Coeur is only twenty minutes away on foot too and offers spectacular views of the French capital from its steps.

At the foot of Montmartre, among a buzz of bars and sex shops, this boulevard is home to an incredibly luxurious hotel-like stay in Paris. On the eighth floor of a hotel building, this apartment is high up enough to be out of earshot of the exciting neighbourhood below, as well as high enough to see jaw-dropping views. From your private balcony and huge windows, admire sweeping 270-degree views of the city, including the Eiffel Tower itself. There’s such a vintage Pigalle feel to this home, with mid-century furnishings and a sexy vibe with black decor. Quirky artwork such as a lobster’s skeleton set in glass might sound odd, but everything works in harmony here to create the epitome of bohemian, sophisticated, Parisian chic. After a pain aux raisins and a café au lait, head ten minutes to the Sacré-Cœur, via winding slopes of Montmartre's uniquely artsy streets. Later (after a few cocktails), check out a gig at La Cigale or a show at the Moulin Rouge just two minutes away. And with metro stops all along the street (the closest being a one-minute walk), you don’t even need to stay local. Wherever you end up, we cannot stress the importance of returning home to your balcony at night – the glittering sight of Paris after dark with a glass of champagne in hand is completely unforgettable.

Shops, restaurants, cafes – it's all at your fingertips here, with a metro station nearby for adventures further afield. There's plenty to enjoy back home, too. Need to work from home? You'll find two desks ideal for digital nomads. Prefer to take it slow? Lounge on the sofa while listening to an album on the record player. Topping it all off is the courtyard and small balcony, where you can nibble on brie, share a bottle of wine, and enjoy the fresh air.

It is light and bright, and has a quirky mixture of vintage furniture (like the Louis XVI armchairs in the living room), modern design (like the well-equipped kitchen) and hand-made artefacts (like the furniture robot created by your hosts brother!).

While guests one and two will sleep under a classic mural, the small singles in the second bedroom are only suitable for kids, making this apartment ideal for young families.
