Tucked into the heart of Paris and within walking distance of key landmarks such as the Louvre Museum and Palais Garnier, this contemporary pad is perfect for solo travellers, couples and small families alike. Granted, as a party of four, two people will draw the short straw and sleep on the sofa bed in the living room, but it’s a small price to pay for the location.

Nestled on the fifth floor, you’ll need to be fit to climb the stairs to this apartment – but we think the cityscape views from the balcony are worth it. Inside is cosy, and you’ll need to watch your head on the low ceilings on the upper floor – particularly in the bathroom, which is a bit of a squeeze.
