The apartment itself is tucked down a small street, and has everything you might need. There’s a desk in the living room for remote working, and the projector in the bedroom means you can add cosy movie nights to your itinerary. The only downside to this charming apartment is that it’s on the fourth floor with no lift – it won’t be suitable for everyone.

But we think the best way to see Paris is on foot. Lose yourself to the treasure trove of swish restaurants, bars, and expensive designer shops of this stylish quarter – it’s all on your doorstep.

This slightly quirky home is a convenient base in Paris. It’s close to the Mabillon metro station and is within easy walking distance of the Luxembourg Gardens and Notre Dame. You’ll have your pick of restaurants, bars, and theatres nearby, too. There are two living rooms here, one of which houses a sofa bed for two guests – as well as a desk for remote working. A child can also be accommodated in a mezzanine-level single bed, but this won’t be suitable for everyone given the stairs.

We love this home for its location within an authentic enclave that's a stone's throw from Luxembourg Gardens and the Latin Quarter. The home itself is more functional than sumptuous, although it does shine for its great cleanliness standards. A well presented terrace offers the option of enjoying a drink or meal al fresco, while there's also a cocktail bar just downstairs, and although it's more of a boozer, it's still a great spot for a classic cocktail. A couple looking for a base from which to explore the nightlife of the Latin Quarter need look no further.

Overlooking Luxembourg Gardens through large windows, this palatial Parisian apartment is a great find for friends travelling together. Luxembourg public transport is only a four-minute walk away and ready to zip you across Paris to see landmark sights like The Louvre, The Eiffel Tower and more. With antique furniture, parquet flooring and decorative fireplaces, the interior style might not be to everyone, but it is central and surrounded by restaurants and cafes. The balcony is a nice touch, and we recommend enjoying your first cup of coffee on it every morning.

In artsy Saint-Germain-des-Prés, this apartment is a comfortable base to call home. We love the exposed wooden beams – they give an otherwise contemporary pad a touch of character. Granted, one guest will sleep on a sofa bed, but we don't think they'll have to compromise on space. Location-wise, this neighbourhood speaks for itself. There's a restaurant and bar next door, plus many more in the area. You're also within easy reach of Notre Dame and Jardin du Luxembourg, while the metro is nearby if you'd rather not explore on foot.

Located in the sought-after Germain des Près district, just a short stroll from the Jardin du Luxembourg and Bon Marché, this apartment’s location is excellent. The second bedroom has a small double bed and is accessed via the main bedroom, so this place is probably suited to families. The kitchen is well-stocked (albeit compact) if you plan to rustle up meals at home, though there are plenty of local eateries and Michelin restaurants nearby. There's also a sofa bed for two guests, but we think space will be a squeeze with it in use. Location-wise, Jardin du Luxembourg is an easy stroll away, as are markets, shops, and theatres.

Like an ode to simplicity, this home in buzzing Saint-Germain boasts neutral looks but is a heaven of peace among the rooftops of the Rive Gauche. Set in one of our favourite parts of the city, just on the banks of the river, it's tucked away in such a peaceful little courtyard you may find it hard to comprehend you're in the centre of Paris. This ground-floor apartment has been refurbished recently and mixes period features like high ceilings with modern minimalism, a sleek white kitchen and a touch of industrial styling. Comfortable, bright and surprisingly private, it's a real retreat away from the bustling city streets.

Step outside each morning and grab a coffee and croissant as you stroll along the Seine – it's just a six-minute walk to take in the impressive view of Notre Dame, currently being restored. It's easy to see why we love this apartment. First, the location is incredible. You're smack-dab in artsy Saint-Germain-des-Prés, one of Paris' most emblematic neighbourhoods. Although we could spend all day discovering the boutiques and eateries here, it's extremely well-connected to the rest of the city if you'd like to venture further afield. Secondly, the apartment itself is a real gem. The design combines traditional features with all the modern conveniences you'll need. Space can be a little tight with the sofa bed in use, but there's plenty of room in the main suite and the second bathroom is a nice bonus. If you're after a quintessentially Parisian experience, this is it.

Exceptionally located on the Île de la Cité, this apartment puts Notre Dame at your fingertips. Cafes and eateries abound in the Latin Quarter (ideal as the kitchen here is a little small and lacks a table), or you can stroll along the river towards the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and other landmarks if sightseeing tickles your fancy. Though the design is simple, the lounge is filled with light – and the views of the tree-lined Seine are a real highlight. It's the perfect base for couples keen to be in Paris' beating heart.

Back home, the climb to the fourth floor won't suit everyone, but we think the views overlooking the streets are worth it. The kitchen is a tad small and there isn't a dining space, but overall, it's a cosy and comfortable base for two.

If you're coming to Paris for the first time, a stay in Le Marais is highly recommended. The neighbourhood has the je ne sais quoi that people search for when they visit the French capital — winding cobbled streets, a wide choice of art galleries and plenty of late-night bars and cafes in which to enjoy a glass of red on a street-side table. This apartment is found in the heart of the area and despite the ceaseless activity happening at ground level, the space is as calm as they come. The interior design is effortlessly chic, from the modern palette of greys and velvet cushions on the plush sofa to the minimalist kitchen finished in white. We appreciated the Juliet balcony too, which will be lovely to open up and gaze out of on summer days.
