Nestled away in the 14th arrondissement away from the throngs of tourists in the centre of Paris, this apartment is an excellent option for those travelling to the French capital as part of a larger group.

There's nothing cramped about the space, with plenty of areas in which guests can kick back and relax. On warmer days, the outdoor terrace and patio complete with seating and an alfresco table is sure to see plenty of use, but the beanbags in the lounge and the separate TV area are equally cosy. One thing that we're quite impressed by is the huge kitchen, which has enough room for two, or even three, to cook together at the same time — many hands making light work and all that.

Sticking on this side of the Seine, the Catacombs are just under twenty minutes away on foot if you fancy a subterranean tour of the city, while the leafy pathways of Jardin du Luxembourg take a similar amount of time on the metro if you prefer to stay above-ground.

Multiple outdoor spaces with lots of seating make this home ideal for entertaining in the summer, where you'll feel a million miles away from the buzz of the city. The owners are art collectors, so there are plenty of pieces to admire and it's impossible not to feel your stresses melt away when you enter the grand master bathroom, decked out in the finest marble. Reconnect with nature in between excursions out in the city of lights. We couldn't help falling for its quirks, especially the creaky floors, squeaky doors and the beautiful painted ceiling in the master bedroom. From a bright conservatory kitchen to a secluded garden study, there are plenty of places to get the whole brood together as well as private nooks for quiet moments with a page-turner. Pack a picnic and take the five-minute walk over to Montsouris Park – we recommend finding a spot by the lake. The eerie Catacombs of Paris, sleek Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art and the famous La Closerie des Lilas café, frequented by Ernest Hemingway no less, are all within a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep.

A beautiful family home in the historic 14th arrondissement, it's a truly unique find that will make you feel right at home  without compromising on Parisian style. We love the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area – a dream room to entertain in that is also ideal for curling up with a novel and glass of red wine. Slide the glass door open and you'll also find a small but perfectly formed outside space perfect for a sundowner after a busy day exploring the city. The surrounding neighbourhood is full of bohemian spirit, with traditional bistros and bustling cafés, with the main sights of Paris just a short Métro ride away.

This cosy pied-a-terre caught our eye for its best-of-both-worlds location. Situated in a quiet street in the 14th district, there’s a Metro station within easy walking distance, so you can enjoy the buzz of central Paris with a peaceful base to retreat to. While the small space won’t suit everyone, we think it’s a great option for anyone wanting to drop their bags and explore. And when you’re not in the city centre, there’s lots to discover in the local area, with an array of shops, restaurants and parks nearby.

Paris, I Love You

Vibrant and cheerful, this apartment is a dreamy place to stay in Paris. It’s in the 14th arrondissement, with excellent transport links to the rest of the city, and in easy reach of Montparnasse Tower and the Paris Catacombs. The apartment boasts a sunshine colour palette, so it’s warm and bright. The reception room is the real heart of the home, with a dining space, cosy lounge area, and even a piano. There’s also a charming kitchen, though with so many restaurants and cafes on your doorstep, you won’t need to cook here.

Stylish and practical, this apartment is a great base for small groups exploring the City of Lights. On the outskirts of Paris' tourist centre, you'll be removed from the crowds and yet the Eiffel Tower is half an hour away on the Metro. Plus, designer stores and high-end restaurants are set along Rue du Commerce. As it's set on the first floor, stairs are required, but the interiors are modern, and there's plenty of space for your group to spread out and relax. The sleek kitchen is a nice touch, with everything needed for preparing homemade dinners – when you're not out sampling the excellent local eateries and bistros, of course.

Exceptionally located on the Île de la Cité, this apartment puts Notre Dame at your fingertips. Cafes and eateries abound in the Latin Quarter (ideal as the kitchen here is a little small and lacks a table), or you can stroll along the river towards the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and other landmarks if sightseeing tickles your fancy. Though the design is simple, the lounge is filled with light – and the views of the tree-lined Seine are a real highlight. It's the perfect base for couples keen to be in Paris' beating heart.

Sitting in a central spot to the south of the Seine, we're sure that you'll be just as smitten with this bright apartment as we are. There's a simply huge amount of natural light from the windows and doors that line the living space and this shines rather nicely off the stark white walls, wooden floor and sleek kitchen surfaces.

While it may not have the Haussmanian period charm of other homes in the French capital, the furnishings and finishes are all contemporary – even a little minimalist so in places – and there are no parts that we can identify as needing some urgent love and attention. There's plenty of room to kick back and relax after some serious sightseeing, while the smartly designed kitchen is plenty big enough should you decide you need a night off the city's famous restaurants.

Whenever you choose to leave the home, you'll be immediately greeted by the building's plant-filled courtyard, which is a pleasing pocket of green in the heart of the metropolis. Beyond that, it's easy to stroll over to some well-known attractions, including the Luxembourg Gardens and Les Invalides.

Outside of your home, both Parc Kellermann and Fort d'Ivry are a twenty-five-minute walk away, while Chinatown is twenty minutes away on foot. You’re also a thirty-minute Metro ride from the Panthéon, and just under forty-five minutes from the Eiffel Tower by Metro too.

The large windows are luminous, drenching each room in light, as well as offering stunning views of the Eiffel tower. Decorated in a Scandi-style, the rooms are minimal and pared-back, yet cosy and warm – a delight after a day's exploration. The kitchen is well-equipped, ideal to cook up a storm, but there's only a small counter to enjoy dinner at, so a better choice for those who want to eat out.

The apartment is in the heart of Paris, just across the river from the Louvre and close to Jardin du Luxembourg. There are plenty of metro lines within easy reach, too – Saint-Germain-des-Prés, served by line four, is just a short walk away. We love the refined style of this chic apartment, with its beamed ceilings, spa-like en-suites, and hotel-quality bedding. Staying in Paris should always be this appealing.

Built around a central courtyard, this one-bedroom apartment in Paris' Latin Quarter is at the heart of the capital's cultural district. There's almost a loft vibe to this home with its spiral staircase leading to a mezzanine double bedroom, and there's lots of natural light coming into the main communal area. You're only a short walk away from the banks of the Seine as well as Notre Dame on the Île de la Cité.



The Muse

Paris’ 1st arrondissement isn’t number one for just any old reason. Home to the Louvre/Palais-Royal neighbourhood, this is a historically lavish part of the city where you'll find some of the biggest attractions. A four-minute walk from the Palais du Louvre itself, this apartment certainly continues on a majestic theme. Through a courtyard full of lush plants, the entrance to this building has the famous cream-coloured walls of Parisian homes that you’d expect. However, the interiors tell another story. A rich orange sofa welcomes you to the modern living space – with exposed brickwork, a glossy tiled breakfast bar, and a full-length glass partition wall to break up the bedrooms. While frosted windows save your modesty, there’s nothing modest about the decor of the rooms. Find striking floral feature walls, jazzy cushions, gilded mirror frames, and a freestanding tub in one of the en-suites – it’s bourgeois-bohemian at its best. Take a crisp, morning walk to the Jardin des Tuileries after your café au lait (it’s only ten minutes from home). The Louvre–Rivoli metro is just a two-minute walk, so you can also head out to discover any areas of Paris. You might find it hard to leave your surrounding area though – with boulangeries, restaurants, and bars aplenty, you can dine out or feast like a king in your sumptuous apartment.

Set in one of our favourite parts of the city, just on the banks of the river, it's tucked away in such a peaceful little courtyard you may find it hard to comprehend you're in the centre of Paris. This ground-floor apartment has been refurbished recently and mixes period features like high ceilings with modern minimalism, a sleek white kitchen and a touch of industrial styling. Comfortable, bright and surprisingly private, it's a real retreat away from the bustling city streets.

Step outside each morning and grab a coffee and croissant as you stroll along the Seine – it's just a six-minute walk to take in the impressive view of Notre Dame, currently being restored. Close to the buzzing Latin Quarter, there's no shortage of great places to eat, drink and shop, and most of the city's big attractions are within walking distance.

Located on the Left Bank, this apartment is within walking distance of the Hôtel des Invalides, with its museums and monuments. Other places of interest accessible on foot include the Eiffel Tower and the elegant Bon Marché, Paris's oldest department store. This area also has some grand architecture, and you don’t have to go anywhere to admire it – the French doors here offer great views. We love that the living and dining room is bathed in natural light. It’s also worth mentioning that if you’re a group of eight, two people will be sleeping here on a sofa bed. This apartment is a sound choice for friends and familes.

It’s in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, a charming neighbourhood filled with boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. The apartment has been decorated to the highest standard – it’s contemporary in style but has vintage touches throughout. With views over the rooftops of the 6th arrondissement and a charming Juliet balcony peering down on a peaceful courtyard below, this elegant pied-à-terre for two is a real find. While the bedroom could feel a little bijou for some, we can forgive that in a city where space is at a premium. And you’ll love the fresh, uplifting feel of the boho interiors after days soaking up the grandeur of the streets below. Location-wise, you’re just a short hop from Mabillon Metro. But we think the best way to see Paris is on foot. Lose yourself to the treasure trove of swish restaurants, bars, and expensive designer shops of this stylish quarter – it’s all on your doorstep.

La Citroulette

One of Paris' most famous landmarks is your neighbour at this central apartment. Notre Dame is only a short walk away, but next door is the Church of Saint-Séverin. It may not be as iconic as its neighbour but it’s just as beautiful – and you'll be treated to panoramas of the gothic architecture from the living room windows. View aside, we love the space on offer here, even if the second bedroom is a tad snug and two guests will sleep on a sofa bed. The contemporary finishes are a nice touch, too. There's a soaker bath, a sleek kitchen, and even air conditioning – no wonder it caught our eye.

Sanctuary of Bells

Situated on the historic Île de la Cité, you'll be just steps from the Pont-Neuf bridge and riverbanks of the Seine. Guests will want to get a taste of Paris and sample the nearby restaurants, especially since there's only a kitchenette here for grab-and-go breakfasts. While we love the beamed ceilings and lamplit interior, this apartment lacks natural light and air conditioning for the summer months. That said, this home offers a central base to sightseers who are eager to experience the French capital.
