This apartment combines Parisian-chic with a trendy New York loft vibe (despite being on the ground floor). It fits right in with the neighbourhood, a short walk from Le Marais where indie galleries and niche museums sit alongside romantic bistros in the narrow streets. Wandering the typically Parisian streets around you is a delight, but you can also reach the major sights of the city centre by hopping on the metro at Oberkampf, just down the street.

Inside, exposed stone walls are warming honey-brown and the low wooden sofa has that eclectic artist-in-the-city vibe. Wood panel sliding barn doors and distressed dressed make everything feel upcycled. There are two seating areas in the huge, open living and dining room, separated by the big group dining table. The kitchen and bathroom aren't quite as stylish, but the French doors in the living room and the separate dining space are sure to please. If a quintessentially Parisian pad is what you're after, we think this fits the bill.

Location-wise, the Rue Saint-Maur metro station is a minute’s walk away, and you’re not far from the charming Marais neighbourhood.

Paris is a great walking city, though should you wish to hop on the metro, you’ll find Bastille and Richard Lenoir just a few steps away.

Spacious for a couple, the loft's decor and features reflect the personality of its multifaceted and well-travelled host. We particularly enjoyed the rather nostalgic record player. Set in one of our favourite parts of the city, just on the banks of the river, it's tucked away in such a peaceful little courtyard you may find it hard to comprehend you're in the centre of Paris. This ground-floor apartment has been refurbished recently and mixes period features like high ceilings with modern minimalism, a sleek white kitchen and a touch of industrial styling. Comfortable, bright and surprisingly private, it's a real retreat away from the bustling city streets.

Step outside each morning and grab a coffee and croissant as you stroll along the Seine – it's just a six-minute walk to take in the impressive view of Notre Dame, currently being restored. Close to the buzzing Latin Quarter, there's no shortage of great places to eat, drink and shop, and most of the city's big attractions are within walking distance.
