This 18th-century apartment set in the 2nd arrondissement is ticking all our boxes with its Juliet balcony windows and Rocaille-style antiques. Each of the three bedrooms is as expertly styled as the next, although if we were being picky, they feel a little short on floor space. But for such an unbeatable central location, we can forgive that. Call in on Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum. Take a turn around the gardens of the Palais Royal. Or soak up the splendour of Notre Dame. It’s all within easy walking distance in the Montorgueil district.

Known for its vital role in the French Revolution, Bastille and the surrounding neighbourhood has plenty to offer, even if you're not keen on history. From lively jazz bars and the Opéra Bastille to bohemian boutiques and Marché d'Aligre, this pocket of Paris has something for everyone. And it's where you'll find this stylish apartment, just a five-minute walk from the July Column, twenty from Notre Dame and surrounded by a slew of chic cafes, trendy wine bars and delicious eateries.

Come home after a long day and sprawl out on the sofa, nibbling on French cheese, fresh-baked bread and sharing a bottle of wine picked up from the market. We love the exposed brick in the kitchen, the skylights in the bathroom and the soft, modern furnishings. The style is minimal, the living space bright, and the bedroom super comfortable. This flat may be on the smaller side, but we think it'll do nicely for solo travellers and couples wanting to stay in the centre of the action.

We fell head over heels for this charming home before even stepping foot over the threshold. Why? You really couldn't be better placed. Just a two-minute walk from Paris' most loved art gallery: the Louvre Museum. While you're only six minutes (on foot) to the Palais Royal and a short eleven-minute stroll to Tuileries Gardens. Although the street below is fairly busy and lively, this apartment is a pocket of calm and the perfect spot to relax. We really loved the authenticity of the home – from the wooden flooring, exposed beam ceiling and elegant Parisian windows – the apartment keeps true to its roots. Enjoy your coffee and croissants around the vintage wooden dining table for two or simply spend lazy mornings sat in the sunshine with a good book. Light pours into the living space making a fresh and airy spot to unwind on the comfy sofas after an afternoon exploring the city.

Although the location is great, we’ll start with the apartment itself – you can see why with views like this. The vistas from the balcony over the Eiffel Tower, River Seine and the Quai des Orfèvres are fantastic. The open-plan living room and main bedroom have a wonderful outlook too. Now about the location – the home is situated on the exclusive Île de la Cité, so there are plenty of riverside strolls to be had. The nearby iconic Notre-Dame de Paris is also a short walk away, while across the Pont Neuf, you’ll find the Louvre Museum.

This home has all the modernity and style we’ve come to expect from a city loft. Formerly a railway company office, huge, warehouse-style windows fill the place with natural light and the double-height living room is a big open space made for socialising. A mix of pendant lamps and sparkling chandeliers blend industrial-chic with pure Parisian grandeur and we love the quirky touches like graffiti-style art on the wall and a film reel lamp on the coffee table. 

In the open space, you’ll find a dining table for the whole group, a hang-out corner with a sound system and foosball table, and a lounge lined with towering bookshelves. The kitchen is tucked beneath the mezzanine bedrooms and is super sleek in shining chrome. You’re in one of Paris’ artsy and most fashionable neighbourhoods here, packed with trendy bars, bistros and chichi cafés. It’s also only a fifteen-minute walk from the Gare du Nord if you’re arriving by Eurostar, while the Louvre and the Palais Garnier are both less than fifteen minutes away on the metro.

Right in the heart of the beautiful Marais, this family home is both cosy and spacious. Set in a typical period building, it has a classic look with tall ceilings, big windows that open up completely to reveal wrought-iron rails and chic furniture with a rustic – almost farmhouse – twist. We love the natural light that floods the rooms. There's a modern kitchen and a pretty dining table if you're cooking at home but we think you'll be exploring the array of great eateries nearby most evenings. Each bedroom has a dedicated bathroom so there won't be any queueing for the shower in the mornings, and it's easy to get around the city with two metro stations around the corner. Or else head out on foot and walk to the Louvre in less than half an hour.

There are plenty of boutiques and restaurants nearby, and you’ll be within easy walking distance of attractions including Centre Pompidou and Île Saint-Louis. Rambuteau metro station is just a few minutes away, too, so seeing the rest of Paris is as easy as can be. The apartment is charming and rustic, with wooden beams and vintage-style furniture. It’s a cosy base for four, and the kitchen makes it a practical home-from-home in the City of Lights.

Situated on the historic Île de la Cité, you'll be just steps from the Pont-Neuf bridge and riverbanks of the Seine. Guests will want to get a taste of Paris and sample the nearby restaurants, especially since there's only a kitchenette here for grab-and-go breakfasts. While we love the beamed ceilings and lamplit interior, this apartment lacks natural light and air conditioning for the summer months. That said, this home offers a central base to sightseers who are eager to experience the French capital.

Nestled in the heart of Paris, this home puts groups of six only steps away from the Louvre Museum and the Seine's riverbank. Since there's no lift here, this third-floor apartment won't be accessible to everyone. That said, a fuss-free base awaits guests with busy schedules, offering an open-plan living area for your downtime. Though there isn't much dining space, lovely restaurants line your doorstep. Plus, with the Rue de Rivoli nearby, you couldn't ask for a better location in the city.

However, the split-level layout means you'll have plenty of space to spread out and the design is chic and simple. The bedroom upstairs is cosy and comfortable, while the living area has a sofa bed for guests three and four.

Close to Gare du Nord in the centre of Paris, this suave and sophisticated apartment is everything you want in one of the fashion capitals of the world. The leafy boulevards surrounding the apartment are home to bakeries serving fresh bread and croissants, pavement cafés and typically Parisian bistros lit by candlelight. Should you wish to explore further afield – Notre Dame or The Louvre for example – the metro stop (a minutes’ walk away) can have you in the very heart of Paris in less than ten minutes. Big French windows let the light stream into the living room, and East-Asian influence creates a calming space to return to after a day in the City of Lights. The dine-in kitchen is particularly spacious with a grand dining table big enough for the whole group and sleek black cabinets hiding everything you need for self-catering. Neutral tones in each bedroom will lull you to sleep, and there’s a dedicated work desk in the second bedroom should you need to catch up on emails.

Set in one of our favourite parts of the city, just on the banks of the river, it's tucked away in such a peaceful little courtyard you may find it hard to comprehend you're in the centre of Paris. This ground-floor apartment has been refurbished recently and mixes period features like high ceilings with modern minimalism, a sleek white kitchen and a touch of industrial styling. Comfortable, bright and surprisingly private, it's a real retreat away from the bustling city streets.

Step outside each morning and grab a coffee and croissant as you stroll along the Seine – it's just a six-minute walk to take in the impressive view of Notre Dame, currently being restored. Close to the buzzing Latin Quarter, there's no shortage of great places to eat, drink and shop, and most of the city's big attractions are within walking distance.

If you're coming to Paris for the first time, a stay in Le Marais is highly recommended. The neighbourhood has the je ne sais quoi that people search for when they visit the French capital — winding cobbled streets, a wide choice of art galleries and plenty of late-night bars and cafes in which to enjoy a glass of red on a street-side table. This apartment is found in the heart of the area and despite the ceaseless activity happening at ground level, the space is as calm as they come. The interior design is effortlessly chic, from the modern palette of greys and velvet cushions on the plush sofa to the minimalist kitchen finished in white. We appreciated the Juliet balcony too, which will be lovely to open up and gaze out of on summer days.

Just steps from the Jardins des Archives Nationales, you’ll find this apartment. There are plenty of museums and art galleries within walking distance of this home too, so it has a perfect address for culture lovers. Overlooking a communal interior courtyard, this ground-floor apartment has a sunroom for dining, while the bright kitchen is well-equipped for when you want to do some home cooking. The separate living room accommodates guests five and six on a sofa bed and for the hot summer months, you’ll be glad to know there’s air conditioning here.

An art lover’s paradise – this home is situated a four-minute stroll from the Pompidou Centre, while the Musée National Picasso-Paris is ten minutes on foot. If you’re more of a poetry fan, then head to Musée Victor Hugo, once the home of the Romantic movement poet, novelist and playwright, a fifteen-minute saunter away. Or, sample the stylish bars and restaurants, as well as hip galleries and boutiques on your doorstep in this Le Marais location. The iconic Notre Dame, on the other hand, is under a twenty-minute walk. 

Back at this stylish home, take a seat on the enclosed patio and enjoy a glass of French rosé wine. This place is a lovely mix of modern and character features – think old wood beams, chandeliers, contemporary artwork and ghost chairs, for example. After cooking some moules marinière in the monochrome kitchen, retire to the library or relax on the comfy sofa. We were surprised by how quiet this home was, given its fabulous location.

Whether you're heading to Paris for a girls' trip, a family reunion or on business, large groups will love this smart, central home. It's effortlessly stylish – a little like the city itself – and has wooden floors, stylish furniture and a sophisticated greyscale colour palette. There's plenty of space for everyone to cook, relax and eat together, while the bedrooms have their own desk spaces if you need to catch up on work. You'll love admiring the black and white photographs on the walls, and gazing out at the Parisian street scenes below from the huge windows. The surrounding neighbourhood is a vibrant melting-pot of old and new, with plenty of restaurants and coffee shops to try out. You're within a fifteen-minute walk of Place de la République, and the Palais Garnier opera house is around twenty minutes away. And, if you want to travel further afield, then just hop on the métro at Bonne Nouvelle.

Imagine a perfectly-placed, typically romantic Parisian pad and we're pretty sure what springs to mind won't be far off this pretty apartment. Just minutes from the Louvre, everything from the Marais to the banks of the Seine is within easy walking distance, along with many of the city's museums and palaces, and some of the best shopping and dining out in Europe.

Set in a historic building on the highly regarded Rue Croix des Petits Champs, this place has it all – period features, natural light, parquet floors and good sociable living space. White walls and whitewashed beamed ceilings make for an elegant, timeless look, with deep blue highlights and touches of marble and gold. It all feels very stylish, yet perfectly practical. There's a well kitted-out kitchen and a dining table if you're cooking at home, and two spacious bedrooms – both bright and luxurious. About as Parisian as it gets, this is is the perfect spot to experience the best of this incredible city.

Tucked away in the 2nd arrondissement, this apartment couldn't be better placed for sightseeing. It's a short walk from Les Halles, Palais-Royal, and the Louvre, with multiple metro stations nearby to whisk you across the City of Lights. Inside, the Art Deco influence adds chic touches to the decor. Each bedroom also has an en-suite – perfect for privacy, but slightly less convenient with the sofa bed in use. There's also a desk for remote workers and a modern but somewhat small kitchen. However, with a bevvy of restaurants in the area, we reckon eating out will be hard to resist.

This apartment’s address is great – it’s a short walk from the Musée des Arts et Métiers and the Centre Pompidou. Other places of interest within walking distance include the Louvre Museum and Palais Royal. Back at this apartment, we love the views from the open-plan living room’s balcony of the typically Parisian architecture. This room also sleeps guests three and four on a comfy sofa bed. Another bonus of staying here is there's free access to a shared gym too – this place is ideal for business and leisure travellers alike.

With Le Marais' trendy eateries nearby and easy transport links to the rest of the city, it makes a fantastic base for your adventures. We're big fans of the interiors, which merges contemporary design with classic character. The large French windows flood the living area with sunlight, making it feel bright and breezy. Though two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the TV room, we think you'll find it a comfortable, albeit fuss-free, place to call home.

Elsewhere Le Marais is known for offering Paris' best shopping experience along the nearby Rue des Francs Bourgeois, a selection of fantastic restaurants to suit any budget, as well as being the hipster hub of the city's LGBTQ+ scene. If you feel the urge to explore further afield, you're well served by the Metro, which can have you tramping around the majority of tourist sights in around twenty minutes. With the delights of the Marais are at your fingertips, you'll love coming back to this quiet haven at the end of a day spent exploring.
