Speaking of things to do, you couldn’t be better placed to see Paris’ main sights. You’re just a ten-minute walk from Notre-Dame and a fifteen-minute stroll from the Louvre and Place des Vosges. It’s a charming home-from-home – you can look forward to exposed stone walls and wooden beams combined with a designer sofa and a silk Persian rug. Rehash the day's adventures over a bottle of wine around the dining table, then, when you're ready to drift off, climb into the comfortable bed and wake up the next day feeling fresh and excited. The apartment's excellent Le Marais location is ideal for exploring this iconic neighbourhood on foot, and it's just by one of our favourite squares in Paris – Place des Vosges – and right around the corner from the Picasso Museum. Given its buzzing locale and fresh looks, this pad would suit a couple with a youthful soul, looking to explore the thriving food scene and nightlife of this very happening quarter of central Paris.

Housed in a beautiful 19th-century stone building in Paris’ vibrant Marais district, this wonderfully bright apartment is brimming with style thanks to its charming retro look. Kitted out in vintage decor mainly from the 40s and 50s, there’s a cool sophisticated vibe here that feels perfectly Parisian. Kick back on the mid-century-modern armchair with one of the architectural books from the shelves or enjoy an espresso – made with the kitchen’s machine – and locally bought croissants at the chic dining table. We recommend enjoying a glass of French wine by the Juliet balcony, however, and basking in the glorious sixth-floor views over the city’s rooftops at sunset. The bedroom, meanwhile, is elegantly pared back with a comfortable bed (as well as a choice between two types of pillows) as well as stunning views over Saint-Paul Saint-Louis Church in the distance. Factor in the deliciously pink tiled bathroom with its sunken tub – ideal for finishing the night off with a glass of bubbly after an afternoon of walking – and you’re all set for a relaxing stay. Outside of your home, the Marais’ colourful streets beckon with their trendy shops and cosy cafés, elegant ​​Place des Vosges is a three-minute walk and Notre Dame is twenty minutes away on foot.

In Bas Marais, just a two-minute walk from the Saint-Paul metro station, welcome to the neighbourhood of Notre Dame and Le Village Saint-Paul. From baroque churches and antique stores, to boutique shopping and hip restaurants, this is a delightfully diverse area of the 3rd arrondissement. Through a grand, art deco-style doorway on a quiet street, this flat has every typical Parisian element you might come to expect. The wrought-iron balcony of the French windows, the elegance of the original fireplace, and the writer’s desk in the bedroom. The huge open-plan living area is bright and breezy, with understated decor which has a certain old-world charm. But you can stroll nine minutes to the Centre Pompidou if you’re looking for a contrast to your historic surroundings. This inside-out design building is certainly different from the grandeur of Notre Dame, just twelve minutes away. Continue on with some non-traditional art at the Musée Picasso, only eight minutes from your front door. Take the long way home, through the winding streets of creative Le Marais, to stop in at a few cocktail bars en route. With its rich, cultural history, we reckon it's the best area for inspiration to get started on that novel at the writer’s desk when you get back.

From the velvet sofa to the canopy bed, there's a real sense of heritage here that we fell in love with at first sight. Outside, you have two roomy terraces to choose from (one for breakfasts, another for evening cocktails as the sunsets over the rooftops), and there's even a working fireplace for those chilly winter nights. But there's plenty of modern conveniences too, including skylights, a maid service, speakers in every room and a luxe master bathroom with gold finishes. Situated on the Île Saint-Louis – an island in the heart of the Seine considered one of Paris' most desirable postcodes – you're just an eight-minute walk from Notre Dame Cathedral. Utterly romantic and endlessly charming, it's not uncommon to hear accordion music drifting down the streets lined with shops, cafes, restaurants and crêperies. You couldn't hope for a more authentic spot to experience the magic of Paris.

It has everything you need for a relaxed stay – a laptop-friendly workspace ideal for business travellers, a sleek kitchen with all the essentials, and a cosy lounge perfect for unwinding. A curtain separates the living room and bedroom, but there's ample space for a couple to get comfortable – and since the windows overlook the building's courtyard, it's relatively quiet, too. Location-wise, you can't beat Le Marais. Restaurants and designer boutiques are just a few steps away, while the must-see Parisian landmarks are within easy reach via the metro.

Le Marais is the place to be for a quintessentially Parisian experience. With local bakeries, artisan shops, and delicious restaurants nearby, you'll be feasting on French classics in no time – especially handy as this home's kitchen is compact. This luminous apartment in Le Marais is perfect for couples. Considered one of the city's most desirable neighbourhoods, this area boasts trendy cafes, fashionable boutiques, and upscale restaurants – and they're all just a short stroll from your door. Your host has a selection of books to choose from, and the kitchen is well-suited to rustling up meals using produce from the local market. There may not be a lift to the fourth floor, but factor in the proximity to a metro station (a three-minute walk) and it's no surprise that this gem caught our eye.

A six-minute walk from Saint-Paul metro station, Le Village Saint-Paul certainly lives up to its name. While it’s set in the central 4th arrondissement, there’s a tranquil, village-like feel to this small region – but with a huge personality. From baroque churches to hip restaurants, history and modernity combine to create a unique place, as does this striking duplex apartment.

In a 17th-century townhouse three minutes from the banks of the Seine, your life is about to become a Parisian movie (not just because this building has been used as a filming location). After ascending the grand staircase, your hand gliding up the wrought-iron railings, step into scenes of pure creativity and originality. 

Something between a cottage, apartment, and palace, this home really knows how to impress. We were immediately struck by the rustic timber beams, to match glossy wooden floors and a charmingly creaky spiral staircase. Shelves upon shelves of the host’s books line the walls, while vintage motorbikes sit alongside. And to add glamour to this eclectic mix, a glistening chandelier sparkles above. As you head to the second floor, the country-like feel of this village comes to life through distressed furniture, more huge beams, and cosy bedrooms in the eaves. Bohemian Paris at its finest.

If you’re looking for a romantic retreat akin to a location from the Three Colours Trilogy, this charming flat in the heart of historic Le Marais may just fit the bill. On drizzly days, get into the Parisian spirit by gazing out the window longingly over the courtyard, local church and crypt, sipping on steaming black coffee. When the mood takes you, feel the solid oak floorboards as you shuffle your bare feet to the tunes of Françoise Hardy.

Once you decide to venture out, you’ll find yourself between the Rue des Archives and Rue de Rossiers. With both being famous for their history, cuisine and fashion, there’s no wrong choice here, although we slightly prefer the latter – its cobblestones streets add that extra bit of charm.

This chic apartment is in a fabulous location in Le Marais. It’s tucked away in a private courtyard, so it’s a peaceful haven within the city – the perfect place to return to after busy days and nights soaking up all that Paris has to offer. 

The apartment is elegant yet comfortable, with everything you might need for your stay. Wake up to light streaming through the windows and begin your day with a coffee in the living room. Perhaps you’ll stroll fifteen minutes to Notre Dame and admire the architecture? Or maybe you’ll spend the day in the galleries and museums, then join the locals on Ile St Louis in the evening. Take a picnic and sit along the bank of the river listening to musicians – it’s only a six-minute walk away. 

The Saint-Paul metro stop is a two-minute walk from the front door, so you can easily explore further afield. When you return, dine in one of the many restaurants nearby before heading up to the peaceful apartment on the fifth floor – you’ll rest easy here.

You’re a five-minute walk from the Maison de Victor Hugo and ten from the Museum of the Art and History of Judaism. Shop in flash boutiques along the Rue des Francs-Bourgeois and refuel at the farmer’s market on Boulevard Richard Lenoir, held every Thursday and Sunday. When dusk falls, make a beeline for the craft-cocktail bars to try a carefully concocted beverage in a stylish setting.

Admittedly, the aesthetic is a little simple and the amenities list not as extensive as some of our other homes, but with such a great location, Durance provides good value as well as fresh and modern spaces.

It might be slightly on the smaller side, but this home sure does pack a punch. Situated just around the corner from the Centre Pompidou, it enjoys an enviable location on the top floor of a 19th-century apartment building in the heart of the 4th arrondissement. 

Despite having been totally renovated, this place has managed to retain its old-school charm, featuring exposed brickwork and stunning beamed ceilings that branch out from the living room to the bedroom. The real highlight, though, is the terrace, where we’d highly recommend unwinding with your apéritif of choice after a busy day of sightseeing. And when it comes to mealtimes, living in Le Marais means you won’t have to venture far for a taste of your favourite bistro dishes. 

Chim Chim Chérie

Cosy and curious, this petite apartment is housed in one of Paris’ oldest buildings. Exposed beams add to the historic charm – the style won’t be to everyone’s taste. This is a studio apartment, so you’ll be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living and dining space – we recommend packing light if you don’t want it to feel crowded. Happily, you’re in the heart of Le Marais, so you’ve every reason to spend your time out and about exploring. Musée Picasso is just a stone’s throw away, and you can reach pretty Île Saint Louis in no time. Saint Paul metro is close too, making seeing further-afield sights as easy as can be. 

Marais Charms

This modern penthouse is a wonderful base in Paris’ vibrant Marais. Contemporary design and Parisian charm meet here, with chic decor and floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase incredible views of the city. Best of all, you’ll have a private terrace to watch the sunset on and take in the panorama that stretches from Sacré Coeur to the Eiffel Tower. Two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in one bedroom, but that’s a small price to pay for this location.  The Picasso Museum is only a stone’s throw away, and you can reach Places des Vosges in just a few minutes. 

Marais Hideaway

This spacious two-bedroom apartment shines for its centre-of-the-action location, close to the main attractions of the Marais. It's perfectly equipped to keep a two couples comfortable during their Parisian stay, although some may miss a second bathroom for a more agile morning routine. Featuring a modern open-plan living space with a few stylish details and exposed beams in the bedrooms, this home looks simple at first sight but packs a fair amount of character and charm.
