There are plenty of spots from which you can gaze out at the pretty meadows, woodland and the banks of the River Tamar that surround the address, whether that's out through the floor-to-ceiling windows that line the main living space or while seated on the roof terrace bordered by a leafy pergola. However, the home's interior is well worth your attention, too. Certain features have been retained from the building's industrious past, including wooden ceiling beams and exposed stonework, but otherwise, the design is bright and contemporary.

The number of amenities available to guests distinguishes this home from the pack. Not only is there a homely wood-burning stove in the main space, but there's a games room with a ping-pong table and darts board in a section that was once a cattle shed, plus lots of equipment for outdoor games beside the forecourt and lawned area. Here you will find tables, benches and additional seating for your exclusive use and space to stoke up barbecues and challenge the group to a variety of games.

Elsewhere on the site, there are the ruins of a silver and lead mine accompanied by the pumping engine house and smithy, part of the industrial landscape recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are other footpaths that lead off into the countryside, but you can also stroll down to the banks of the River Tamar, on which there's a two-hour window every day when it's safe to use it for water sports.

Idyllic locations such as Padstow and St Ives can be reached in less than an hour, and the famed Eden Project is just a forty-five minute drive away.
 
On the other hand, Holywell Bay has one of the most beautiful beaches in the county. You’ll be pleased to know it's only a five-minute walk from your door, where alongside stunning scenery, you’ll find a gorgeous coastal path, and a handful of charming beachside cafes and eateries. Refuel on local produce at the Gull Rocks Bar & Coffee House at the beach’s entrance after an afternoon spent splashing about, and take in the stunning vistas afforded by its prime location. The Treguth Inn, hailing back to the thirteenth century also awaits just five minutes away, while several more traditional pubs and desirable restaurants can be found within a fifteen-minute drive. The choice is all yours. 

A short twenty-minute drive away is the Gannel Estuary, which separates neighbouring Crantock village from Newquay. Have a go at canoeing in the estuary, or try your hand at paddle-boarding over in Crantock. On quieter days, why not go for fish and chips followed by some ice cream in idyllic fishing villages such as Mevagissey, Mousehole or Gorran Haven, all within an hour's drive? Whatever you choose to do, you won't be short of fun.
  
Of course, such is the high-quality amenities, you don't even need to leave the house. An open living area is blessed with natural light and plenty of space, perfect for social evenings. Chill on the sofas, sit with a glass of beer on the kitchen bar or take to the circular table for dinner. On cooler nights, gather around the log burner, or venture out to the garden for a spot of stargazing by the outdoor heater.
 
On warm summer evenings, get comfy on the cushioned sofas as you watch the sunset, or take in views of Penhale, a protected area for wildlife and ecology. When the sun sets, turn on the outdoor lights, and for true indulgence, treat yourselves to a dip in the hot tub.

It’s a minutes’ drive from the bustling port of Looe, where we love to mosey around the model village, gorge on the catch of the day at a restaurant or perch on the sheltered beach. Polperro is also close by, a ten minutes’ drive away, with its cobbled streets and local pubs. Back at home, you’ll find a relaxing bright environment with beachy vibes. We love the different coloured wood in the kitchenette, the blue tiles in the bathroom and the wicker lamps. The loveseat has a clear nautical theme, perfect for afternoon lounging, while the bed is luxurious and welcoming at the end of the day. Enjoy breakfast at the small wooden table, or outside in finer weather, and map out your plans for the day. For the more adventurous, there are several canoe, kayak and paddleboarding shops in Looe, with the choice to hire or go on a guided tour. You'll have all the charming rustic touches you would hope for — exposed stone walls, a vaulted ceiling and a log burner — but there's a modern feel, and absolutely no chintz. You can slip into your own wood-fired hot tub just outside the back door, and the host has been thoughtful enough to provide a generous stack of logs to get you started. Meet the farm animals or set off alongside the private Nature Reserve to discover the private shingle beach on the River Tamar. Later, take advantage of some of the farm's other surprises — a communal games room with ping-pong, a shared tennis court, a hammock hidden away in the orchard, and a basketball hoop. With a number of extra activities also bookable, you can take part in a foraging workshop, try out stand-up paddleboarding or get involved in local wine tasting. Alternatively, you can drive to the port city of Plymouth in about forty minutes and visit the National Marine Aquarium.

Set in a secluded spot within twenty acres, this upside-down home makes the most of the countryside vistas and will have you itching to get out to explore. While a car is necessary for travelling further afield, there are walks from your doorstep here or you can take a ride on the Helston Railway to soak up the scenery – it’ll stop at the bottom of the garden for you. After a day spent exploring the coastline, return home and pop the complimentary homemade fish pie in the Aga for the perfect dinnertime treat.

And for the full experience, we highly recommend a classic Cornish pasty or fish and chips on the beach for a satisfying lunch. 

Return home and wash off the sand in your outdoor shower before enjoying a few drinks in the garden. The barbecue is ready to go to cook up a feast, or you could enjoy a homecooked dinner around the dining table inside if the weather starts to chill. There's nothing more homely than gathering around with family and friends in a Cornish cottage, while the traditional fireplace warms you up from the inside out.
