The brainchild of a celebrated interior designer, this North Devon townhouse has got it all figured out. Located a couple of minutes’ drive from Croyde beach, where you’ll spend long days surfing and soaking up the salty sea breeze, the inside of the home is beautifully sophisticated, with subtle nautical nods—we loved the knot wallpaper and delicate fish shoal light shade. The bunks in the children’s room will be a hit with mini swashbucklers, while the pizza oven on the patio should keep big kids quiet for a while. You’ll find the pretty village of Croyde a five-minute amble down the road, offering a charming selection of tea rooms, ice cream parlours and thatched pubs. After a hearty roast dinner, retreat home to the outdoor hot tub before turning in for the night in those luxurious king-size beds.

This original Georgian house has been completely reimagined, extended and turned into the ideal hub for large groups of friends or extended families after seamless modern living along the beautiful Devon countryside. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, Croyde has some fantastic cafes, pubs and restaurants where you can refuel and possibly sample a famous Devon cream tea. Back at home, you’ll find a wet room where you can rinse off the salt and sand, as well as a grand clawfoot bath for the perfect ending to a delightful day.

This luxurious holiday home is just a seven-minute walk to the village of Georgeham, where you can enjoy a pint of ale in a traditional pub. But in this bright and beautiful lodge, rural life meets modern sensibilities. As soon as you arrive, passing through rolling green fields and grazing sheep, the first thing you’ll notice is the spectacular outdoor space. Framing your gorgeous blue wooden home is a lush lawn, a pale wood decking with outdoor seating, and our favourite feature – a traditional, wooden outdoor hot tub. But before you jump in to start soaking the night away, it’s also worth exploring the indoors. With floor-to-ceiling windows and glass sliding doors, this home really allows you to bring the outside in. Plush velvet chairs and a cushy sofa bring a softness to the otherwise minimalist living space – a perfect setting for a warm Earl Grey after a long day on the windswept beaches of Devon. While these dramatic coastlines are of course a major attraction of staying in this area, you can also find some of the county’s best dog-friendly beaches, such as Woolacombe Beach, just ten minutes away. Inside is just as cosy. Settle down on the plush sofas with a glass of wine and watch a film in front of the electric fire. Home cooks, meanwhile, will love preparing family feasts in the country-style kitchen. After a long walk along the coast, soak sore muscles in the bathtub before climbing into the comfortable beds for a well-deserved sleep – with so much to explore in Devon, you'll need all the energy you can get it. 

Location-wise, you're just a short walk from the village and about one mile from Croyde's sandy beach. Bring along your boards and catch some waves – there's even surfboard storage back at home – or for a more laid-back afternoon, sample the fare at the local pubs and cafes in the area, followed by a stroll along the shore.

Situated a mere ten-minute walk from the beach in Croyde, this home is ideal for those seeking a coastal retreat – and surfers, in particular. Up to eight guests will need to share two bathrooms here, one of which is an en-suite, but aside from this, there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy some quiet time or socialise as a group. The garden is a lovely spot for alfresco dinners while in winter, the wood burner is a welcome sight after a day on the coast.

Just a few minutes from the centre of Croyde and steps away from a path that leads to Croyde's picturesque beach and pumping surf, this semi-detached cottage is the ideal spot to enjoy your own surfers' paradise. The interior has been decorated in a contemporary style while maintaining plenty of period features and cottage charm. The bright and breezy kitchen/diner has a beautiful exposed beam ceiling and a large dining table that can accommodate the whole group. On cooler evenings, set the fire and sink into the sofa in the delightful living room. The downstairs double bedroom is perfect for anyone who'd prefer to avoid the stairs, while it also boasts direct access to the patio and lovely garden complete with outdoor furniture. Head upstairs for a further three bedrooms and a modern family bathroom. Outside, you've got a couple of parking spaces (a real luxury in peak-season Croyde), and a central courtyard with an outdoor shower. The centre of Croyde with its pubs, restaurants, cafes and surf shops is just steps away, while the dune-backed beach is a ten-minute walk. Croyde beach is one of North Devon's most stunning stretches of sand and attracts surfers year-round thanks to its reliable waves. When the surf gets too big, or the wind too strong, you're less than a ten-minute drive from Putsborough beach, where the headline protects you from those prevalent south-westerly winds. For breathtaking coastal walks, head to the nearby National Trust headland of Baggy Point where a cliffside footpath offers spectacular views of the Atlantic and Lundy Island.

During the day, catch some waves at the beautiful nearby sandy beach or take a short stroll into the quaint village to discover the array of boutique shops and highly rated eateries. If you’d like to venture further afield, head on an outdoor pursuit along the coastal walkways to Baggy Point or along the headland to Putsborough Beach and admire the panoramic views of Woolacombe Bay. After a long day out, there’s an outdoor shower to wash off your sandy feet before you hop in the hot tub to soothe aching muscles, and the private patio offers the perfect spot to finish off your day with a bottle of wine and an incredible sunset.

A ten-minute drive from the pristine shores of Devon’s Woolacombe Beach, this modern lodge is an isolated, minimalist abode that's perfect for serenity-seekers. While you can reach the town of Georgeham by taking a seven-minute stroll through the lush countryside, the home truly does feel like a world away. With spectacular green views in every direction, courtesy of the panoramic windows and floor-to-ceiling glass doors, enjoy the great outdoors even when you’re cosy inside the home. Find woven dining chairs, a plush sofa, and a cushioned headboard against your bed for when you’re relaxing indoors, as well as a bath in the en-suite for a late-night soak. But it’s the outdoor offering which we found really impressive. As well as a large, enclosed garden where you can let your pooch run wild, there are even more activities to enjoy after dusk falls on your private porch. Switch on the fairy lights for a magical evening on the soft sofa under the covered decking, then slink into the hot tub with a glass of champagne as the stars come out. This setting is simply ideal for gazing up at the night skies.

Waking up will be a breeze at this exclusive penthouse apartment, thanks to the stunning views across the rolling North Devon countryside and out to sea. Step out onto one of the many private balconies (there’s three) for a moment of quiet while taking in the rising sun. And you won’t have far to go when it's time to hit the surf –⁠ Croyde Beach is just a five-minute stroll away. While away the days lounging and building sandcastles on the sandy shorelines, or up the ante with a seafront yoga class, surf lesson, or horse-riding. When it’s time for a change of pace, head into Croyde Village (ten minutes on foot). With open-air markets throughout the week and a playground that kids will love, there’s something for everyone here, including a swathe of pubs and restaurants for when thoughts turn to food. Just be sure to make it back home before the sun sets – the shared lawned garden and south-facing terrace is ‘the spot’ to watch the sun dip behind the rural Downend hills.

We love the tiled floors and blue cabinetry here – not to mention the Butler’s sink – as well as the glossy marble countertops that are sure to inspire even the most reluctant of home cooks. On this same floor you’ll find the bedroom, making a bold statement with its red-painted beams, wood-panelled walls and large, comfy bed inviting a peaceful night’s sleep, while the bathroom – on the ground floor too – beckons relaxing wake-ups with its rainfall shower.

Upstairs, the living room is a bright, enticing space with its scarlet sofa and chairs, as well as its large glass doors leading out onto a private enclosed patio. Whether you’re enjoying alfresco meals here or indulging in a celebratory sundowner, this is the ideal spot to catch some rays and luxuriate in your natural surroundings with its views of the neighbouring farmland.

If you're looking for a sweeping dramatic view, beautifully decorated and comforting interior, plenty for the kids to do, and within easy reach of plenty of seaside fun, you've come to the right place. From the outside, you could almost convince yourself that you're at a (very nice!) pub, with round pub benches complete with sun umbrellas. It's the perfect laidback vibe for enjoying a drink while taking in the panoramic view of Woolacombe Beach and the North Devon countryside. Relaxing in your hot tub, a nice drink in hand, while looking out at the sweeping vista sounds like bliss.

The outdoor area's open and bright feel continues through to the interior, which is cloaked in neutral tones and chestnut woods. It's stylish yet inviting, with local artwork adding a touch of the beautiful Devon coast and countryside. Not that you could miss it – large windows encircle the home, offering ample opportunity to gaze at the mesmerising surfers all day long. And when you want to get out there yourself, you're less than a ten-minute walk to the beach. There, you'll find beautiful soft sand, beach cafes, and a surf school – why not test out the waves?

Did somebody say beach? Few places can boast of having direct access to one of Devon's finest beaches, but from this home, you can step out of the door, through the shared garden and onto the footpath down to Saunton Sands. A garden-level apartment in a freshly converted building, it's got space, style and knockout sea views. Perfect for a family or a group of friends getting away to the coast, it's both contemporary and comfortable. 

Inside, the enormous open-plan living space is the star of the show, with a vast lounge area, dining space and a well kitted-out kitchen. Fling open the sets of doors and just breathe in that sea air. We particularly love the covered terrace, with cosy outdoor sofas so you can sip your drinks and admire the view. The master bedroom comes with an in-room freestanding bathtub and the luxurious shower room is decked out in marble, with a fabulous rainfall shower.

By day, splash and play on the beach (don't forget your surfboards – there's a place to store them here) or head to nearby Croyde and Woolacombe. Walk the sand dunes of Braunton Burrows or play a round at Saunton Golf Club, and in the evening enjoy meals together at the big dining table. It's even dog-friendly there's so no need to leave out your four-legged family members here.   

A Crescent of Gold

If you love a beach holiday, this cute home is perfect for you. Such is the proximity to one of the beaches, you can see the lapping waves and golden sands from the privacy of your cute garden. Sitting with a cup of coffee in the morning – listening to the sound of the waves touching the shore – is the perfect way to start your day.

The home is also within walking distance of two other beaches along Woolacombe's pretty esplanade – you can take trips to all three and discover your favourite. If you're feeling peckish after swimming, numerous pubs and restaurants reside nearby in Woolacombe centre.

Whilst you're out, pick up some supplies to enjoy back at the apartment. A deluxe dining table is made for sharing plates of fish and chips, complemented by a crisp glass of something cold. 

The dining table is the centrepiece of the open-plan living room – a bright space that's lit by natural light pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling patio doors. Light, wooden flooring and a carefully designed layout help create a cosy ambiance that doesn't feel crowded. 

Upstairs, you'll find the bedrooms and bathrooms, one of which contains a bath for when you need to soothe the mind and body. Light some candles and pour in the bubble bath to truly relax before you go to bed. 

Three Beach

Located only a short twenty-minute walk from Devon's beautiful Staunton Sands beach and tucked away on a quiet countryside road, The Great Honeysuckle is the perfect place for a discerning couple to kick back and relax for a few days. Aside from the beach, the area is great for long walks and birdwatching, and once you're done exploring, you can always return and hit the outdoor hot tub to unwind. Start your day with a lazy brunch prepared in the bright kitchenette, then enjoy a hot cup of coffee on the patio – the decked terrace area is surrounded by green countryside views, that we really love. If you feel like visiting a historical town, then head over to Barnstaple, under a fifteen-minute drive away, for a nice afternoon in the city centre. When – weary from wandering and ensuring you've picked up some local goods on your travels – knock up a hearty meal and get cosy on the sofa with a good book. The interior has a real classic summertime look, with its exposed wood, light blue tones and French doors. Through to the bedroom, you'll find a continuation of the main living space with tasteful artwork and a gingham throw adding to the charm of this home-sweet-home. 

The Great Honeysuckle

Just a few miles from the famous Saunton Sands, this lovely home has a bubbling hot tub, a sunny veranda and huge floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the interior with light. One of three homes on the same site, it’s the ideal base for exploring the spectacular Devonshire coast. Saunton Sands is one of Devon’s most beautiful beaches, with three miles of golden sand, and azure water. It’s as popular with surfers as families, but with such a vast stretch of beach, rarely feels crowded. The popular village of Braunton is also close by, with its many surf shops, restaurants and cafes. Enjoy a lazy lie in before heading to the beach to swim, surf and explore Braunton Burrows’ immense sand dunes. Then come back for a relaxing dunk in the hot tub and watch the sun go down on the deck with a glass of something delicious. The host welcomes pets (and Saunton Sands is dog-friendly year-round), so if you’ve got a furry friend, it’s the dream holiday.

And it's dog and family-friendly too, so all the troops are welcome here. 

Explore pretty nearby coastal spots like Croyde (seven-minute drive) and Woolacombe (eighteen-minute drive). And there's a thriving foodie scene to keep you well watered and fed – from Michelin-starred restaurants to good old-fashioned fish and chips – it's got it all going on.

Wild Dunes

Look out over the fine golden sands and peeling surf of Woolacombe Bay from this boutique three-bedroom apartment. Just 150m from an award-winning beach, one of the finest in the South West, there are few better places for a family holiday that ticks all the boxes. Surfers, sunbathers and sand castle builders flock here over the warmer months (with committed surfers remaining in the depths of winter) and it's easy to see why.

The apartment is split across two levels, with a beach-inspired barefoot luxury interior that opens out onto two glass-fronted furnished balconies, one on each level. Wake up each morning, brew yourself a coffee and check the surf from the comfort of your apartment. Sure, you could check the internet, but it's not the same. With its inviting open layout, the kitchen/dining room/living area encourages you to spend time together as a group.

You're also ideally located for easy access to the bars, restaurants and surf shops that line Woolacombe's centre. After an early morning surf and a day spent enjoying all the on-site facilities at your disposal – including a gym, heated pool and sauna – why not head into town for a seafood dinner and to catch an open mic night at a local bar? While there are options to suit all tastes, enthusiastically tucking into an authentic Sri Lankan curry at nearby Barricane Beach is a sunset experience that's hard to top.

There's little reason to venture far for sun, sea and surf unless you're sheltering from south-westerlies at  Putsborough or seeking out the occasionally heavy beach break at Croyde. However, keen golfers might like to test their mettle on the challenging links course at Saunton Golf Club, while landscape lovers should take the opportunity to explore the wilds of Exmoor's western edge, both within a half-hour drive.

South By Southwest

This beautiful country home is steeped in history – the colonial-style building is Grade II listed, and it is said that former Prime Minister William Gladstone once stayed here when visiting Braunton. 

The bay window looks out onto the historic parish church, and there is an excellent village pub right next door for when you’re in need of some refreshment or a tasty pub lunch. The cosy sitting room has a wood-burning stove and comes with a complimentary basket of logs, and there’s an additional snug with a sofa and TV – just pop on one of the many DVDs available in the library and settle in for a movie night. You’ll also have the bright and modern kitchen at your disposal – why not rustle up a quick, delicious supper, which you can then enjoy in the spacious dining area.  

A picturesque stretch of the Tarka Trail is close by, offering paths for walking and cycling, while a short car ride will take you to an array of lovely beaches, including Saunton and Croyde. You can indulge in water sports such as surfing and canoeing here, and the house has storage space for boards. Those hoping for a more low-key, restful trip can simply enjoy the golden sands and the soothing sound of waves – and don’t forget to taste the legendary Devon cream tea! 


Take A Little Time

This charming home is part of a lighthouse site, having been renovated from a former lighthouse keeper’s cottage. It’s just outside of the pretty village of Mortehoe in North Devon, where you’ll find pubs and restaurants. Woolacombe and its Blue Flag sandy beach is also just a ten-minute drive away. The cottage is in an ideal spot for bird watching, and there are plenty of walks to enjoy nearby. The house itself is cosy and comfortable, with everything you might need for a short stay by the sea. 

Lighthouse Haven

You'll find this stylish apartment right on the banks of Saunton Sands. If surfing, swimming and sunbathing are on your holiday to-do list, you can't do much better than this beachfront setting – and with the South West Coastal Path on your doorstep and Saunton Golf Club a short drive away, walkers and golfers will have plenty to keep them busy, too. 

The views alone are worth staying for. Morning, noon or night, the best place to soak up the scenery is on the shared balcony – the perfect spot to savour a coffee in the sunshine or cocktails as the sun goes down. Even inside, thanks to the dual aspect, you can feast your eyes on the ocean no matter what you get up to, be it lounging on the sofa, sharing a meal around the dining table or soaking in the main bedroom's sumptuous rolltop bath.
