All cosied up on a quiet country lane just a short amble from the quaint village centre, this wonderful little cottage welcomes all to sample British country life in all its glory. 

With its wonderful white–washed facade, aged windows and brown front door with shrubs to either side, from the outside, this home is a picture–perfect haven steeped in rural charm. A backdrop of sprawling, perfectly–manicured lawns and verdant trees make the setting all the more picturesque, meanwhile the lovely little garden area serves up the ideal spot to privately soak up the sparkling Devonshire rays.

The outside of this home is enough to tug on our heartstrings, but as we meander our way from room to room, we can't help but become more enamoured with the place. Cute and cosy with a winning mixture of classic and contemporary touches, we love the fact that in spite of some of its more modern updates, the home has retained all of its classic charm. The natural wooden doors instantly add to that warm, welcoming appeal, meanwhile the addition of skylight windows invite the sunlight to stream its way inside.

Each and every nook and cranny tells its own unique story, but if you ask us, the real heart of this home is the living area. With a traditional log burner at its centre and leather sofa just waiting to be sunk into, we can already see ourselves curling up here as dusk settles with a large glass of red and some rich chocolate truffles – heaven!

A popular bathing spot, its coastal location is a wonderful place to replenish your mind and body, and its annual regatta is another reason to stick around. This cute cottage is set just one mile from Ness Cove Beach, but you've also got the river on your doorstep – water, water is truly everywhere. 

Authentic and original, this home is every bit the coastal abode you’d expect from Devon. We love the white painted exterior, shuttered windows, and a patio out front complete with a colourful parasol. While you might be spending a fair bit of time out here with your morning coffee, or evening tipple, you’ll also love the delights of the interiors.

The living space feels homely and inviting from the offset. Creams and beiges are reminiscent of the sands on the shore, while chunky timber beams and supports bring a rustic warmth to the lounge. Although the classic sitcom Fawlty Towers gave the impression that accommodation in Torquay left much to be desired, this majestic townhouse completely dispels that notion. 

Having been renovated in 2022, the design brings together boldly patterned wallpaper, a smattering of antique furnishings, some well-chosen pieces of artwork and tufted furnishings to create an interior that feels traditional but far from stale. The bright blue tiling in the bathroom is rather fetching, too

It must be said that the standout features are found in the garden, which is filled with flowers during the warmer months. As well as offering plenty of seating out on the terrace, there's also a hot tub in which you can pass summer evenings.

If the weather gods are smiling down upon you during your stay, the shingle beach at Anstey's Cove can be reached in under fifteen minutes, while Babbacombe Beach takes ten minutes more than that. The Kent Cavern caves are only eight minutes away on foot, too.

Tucked away in the countryside yet just ten minutes from Maidencombe beach, this home offers up the best of both worlds. Indoors, pristine white and cream interiors make the space feel fresh, with a mint-green sofa which you can sink into after a long day of beachside activities. South Devon might feel distinctly Mediterranean, but you’ll certainly enjoy ending the day with a refreshing cup of Earl Grey.

Located in Paignton, this home is only a short walk from many great activities including Paignton Beach – a nineteen-minute walk away – where you will find the pier, the Geopark, a fairy cove, pirates bay adventure golf, and even a multiplex cinema perfect for those typical rainy British days. What’s more, Splashdown water park is a short nine-minute walk away and Torbay Leisure Centre – with its pool, gym and squash courts – is reachable in twelve minutes on foot.

Your little ones will love letting off steam in the home’s large, enclosed garden too, with the kid's swing, trampoline, treehouse, football goal and pirate boat. Meanwhile, you can relax on the garden bench with a good book or enjoy an afternoon Devonshire cream tea alfresco at the outdoor dining area.

Sitting just a short walk from Torquay Beach, this apartment boasts a stellar location. Though the interiors are fairly simple and it might feel a little cramped with four guests, it’s perfectly practical for a coastal stay. After a day strolling along the promenade or soaking up the sun on the beach, you’ll enjoy unwinding in the cosy living room with a glass of wine – though keep in mind the sofa bed will accommodate your third and fourth guests. From here, you’ll be able to enjoy the Torquay Seafront, seafood restaurants and watersports on offer, while boat trips can be taken from Torquay Harbour.

Torquay Tranquillity

It’s all about the seafront location here – just moments from the sands of Torquay Beach this minimal apartment provides an ocean view from your private balcony. There’s a simple but well-equipped kitchen here, though with a promenade and seafood restaurants at your fingertips, you can make the most of the waterfront dining. Keep in mind there are some stairs to climb here, and the second bedroom lacks some natural light, but it’s perfectly comfortable for a coastal stay.

Breezy Bay Retreat

Two buildings make up this family-sized home on the outskirts of Torquay. It’s a fifteen-minute walk from the town centre for all the seafood and sailing you can handle. Large families or groups of friends can spread out between two living rooms, two indoor kitchens and a basement chill-out room complete with arcade games, beanbags and a huge flatscreen TV. We love the long dining table in the conservatory, crowned with twisting vines. But it’s the outdoor space that drew us in, with a hot tub on the covered terrace, curtained lounge area and a full outdoor kitchen protected from the elements.

This seventeeth–century property overlooks the sparkling blue waters of the seaside town, Brixham. Situated next to the charming harbour, you're only a short stroll away from the waterside. Head up the three-tiered garden to admire the view from atop. You'll be greeted with clear skies, the hum of the waters, and the sounds of the harbour. 

The large windows throughout the home light up the space as you play on the vintage arcade table that offers the classical Space Invaders and Pacman. Whoever gets to sleep in the Captain's Cabin bedroom gets a gorgeous view of the surrounding harbour right from the comfort of their own bed – imagine waking up next to that blissful sight every morning.

The beautiful yet convenient location makes this the perfect place to reside on a family getaway to a seaside town. There's a fantastic selection of eateries by the harbour front as well as a cosy pub that serves delicious local produce. Wander the streets of Brixham to discover a ton of local hidden gems and treat yourself to sugary sweet treats and savory snacks.

This magical hideaway in the Teign Valley is the stuff dreams are made of. It's a cosy spot where you can get toasty in front of the woodburner on chilly evenings – your hosts will provide the logs. The outdoor space is also fabulous, with your very own hot tub where you can soak under the stars, a pretty patio for long alfresco lunches and wooded grounds to ramble through. You also have access to some brilliant shared amenities – how about a swim in the indoor pool, followed by a session in the sauna for a truly relaxing experience? If you're craving a little more adrenaline, then Dartmoor National Park is on your doorstep, where you can hike, cycle or pony trek through the dramatic landscapes. But if your favourite kind of adventure is the culinary kind, then there are plenty of traditional pubs and restaurants to try in this wonderful corner of Devon. 

Woodland Wonders

Despite its small size, this studio apartment's proximity to Paignton's seafront gets full marks from us. The water is so close, you could practically reach out and touch it from the living area, making it the perfect spot to enjoy some sand, surf and Devon sunshine. 

We love how the coastal scenery is reflected in the sleek and stylish design. Yellow chairs invite you to kick back and relax with a glass of wine, admiring the views framed in the full-height windows. The compact but well-stocked kitchen is ideal for romantic dinners at home, while the lush rainfall shower is just the ticket after a balmy day by the sea. 

Of course, days here are best spent wandering along the traditional pier, snacking on fish and chips at Goodrington Sands and dipping your toes in Tor Bay. The beach is a mere 100 metres away, but if you're keen on exploring a bit further, you'll find the South West Coast Path, Torquay and Exeter are just a short journey by car.

With stunning sea views and an enviable location in the attractive hamlet of St Marychurch, this holiday home has everything going for it. Just a nine-minute drive from Torquay, and mere minutes from the beach, this beautiful home is a wonderful base from which to explore this part of Devon. 

You might want to start your day on the balcony, sipping coffee and admiring the sweeping views of the sea. After a hearty breakfast in the sun-drenched dining room – the perfect setting for celebrations – head off with your bucket and spade. Oddicombe and Babbacombe beaches are five and six minutes away by car, so you’ve plenty of choice. Rent kayaks or paddleboards to admire the coast from a new perspective, or settle down on the beach with fish and chips. 

Keen hikers will be pleased to learn that the house has direct access to the South West Coast Path. There’s a whole host of walks so you’re sure to find something to suit the group, with glorious views of the English Riviera ready to be devoured. If you’re more of an ambler than a rambler, you might prefer to pop into Torquay instead. Settle into a cosy corner of a cafe with a cream tea before exploring the shops.

Back at the house, you can look forward to making happy holiday memories. The outside space is wonderful, with garden games and a trampoline, as well as a fire pit to sit around when the sun starts to set. Head inside after dark and set up in the cinema room for a family screening.
