It's a nature lover's paradise. Enjoy taking your dog for a morning walk along the coastal path, less than a thirty-second walk away. Mornings spent here are peaceful and serene and by lunchtime, families will gather along the golden sands for a beautiful day by the sea. Take leisurely afternoon swims in the sea, before making the short walk home for a glass of wine in your garden. As afternoon turns into evening, you'll love the blue skies slipping away into shades of orange and purples, before unveiling a twinkly starry sky. It's the best seat in the house, the perfect place to enjoy breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. If you do want to venture out, the lovely harbour town of Dartmouth, a twenty-five-minute drive away, is lined with restaurants, pubs, and bars. You can't beat seafood when it's this fresh!

Positioned overlooking Start Bay on the south coast of Devon, this home has been thoughtfully put together, making the most of its incredible views. Architect designed using a combination of steel, glass and stone, there's more than a hint of a Mediterranean feel to the place. The interiors are elegant and luxurious, with rooms spread across four floors and encompassing a self-contained studio apartment. With all eyes on the rolling hills and the seascape to the rear, the design features several balconies and terraces – all offering places to sit and take it all in. There's so much to love about this home, but some of our favourite features are the cinema room, the floor-to-ceiling views from the dining table and the choice of terraces outside where you can eat your meals together. By day you can explore the coastal paths and villages, or drive to Salcombe or Dartmouth in less than half an hour. If you're bringing your bucket and spade, you'll be pleased to know the beach at Slapton Sands is just a five-minute drive away.

Going solely by the weathered stone exterior and the wooden beams underneath the vaulted ceiling inside, you could be forgiven for assuming that this home is a rustic getaway in the middle of the countryside. It's actually to be found right on the South West Coast Path, close to three miles of shingle beach. Once a coach house, the property has been given a contemporary makeover inside, with parquet wood flooring underfoot, a kitchen finished in a modern shade of grey and bathrooms with neat brick-style tiling. We're sure you'll find it a perfectly relaxing place to return to after a day of exploring the locale. Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve sits pretty much next door, while Blackpool Sands can be reached in ten minutes in the car.

Tucked away in a secluded valley, yet with South Ham's water's edge and Devon's beaches a short drive away, the setting of this cottage is one of a kind. Part of an impressive country estate, kids will love the shared indoor heated pool, tennis court, playground and vast communal lawns found within the grounds – not to mention the trampoline, slide, climbing frame, sit-on tractors and football pitch. It's worth noting this elegant cottage only has a small private courtyard leading off the kitchen. But with those shared terraces overlooking the valley for barbecues and pizza oven nights, we can forgive that.

Also within walking distance are Salcombe's artisan shops, independent eateries, and picturesque harbour, perfect for dog walks in the sun.

One of six natural stone cottages tucked away within a secluded valley between Dartmouth and Salcombe, this home's location is idyllic. With no local amenities to walk to, you'll need a car to get out and about. Though you're rarely a fifteen-minute drive from South Devon's sheltered coves and South Ham's water's edge is even closer. There's plenty to keep everyone busy within the cottage's vast communal grounds, too. Think shared indoor heated pool, tennis court, playground, communal lawns and alfresco terraces. Prefer a little more privacy? That wood-burning fire and small suntrap terrace back at the elegant cottage should do nicely.

While the picturesque towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe are within a half-hour drive.

From the communal indoor swimming pool and tennis court to the gym and kids’ playground, you’ll find plenty to keep everyone entertained. This won’t be the best option if you’re looking for total seclusion, but you will have a private terrace, snug rooms and a wood-burning fire. It’s also in a great location – the Salcombe-Kingsbridge Estuary and the sandy beaches of south Devon are within easy driving distance.

Situated in a private gated development, this penthouse apartment is all about the views. Easily accessible courtesy of the lift from the covered parking area, head on up to the third floor and you’ll find an open-plan, light-filled space waiting to welcome you home. The sea vistas are best enjoyed from the balcony over a glass of wine, but you’re spoilt with scenery from most parts of this home – fling open the bi-fold doors and take it all in. Better still, Salcombe's centre is just a short stroll away, so you'll never be too far from shops, eateries and the water.

First of all, there’s a private terrace, furnished with table and chairs, right on the promenade. Glass sliding doors lead from here to the living room, so you can still hear the sea from the comfort of the sofa. Beachglass-blue bowls and turquoise cushions pop against the otherwise white and cream backdrop inside. The kitchen is tucked away separately, with everything you need to cook a family meal.

On the promenade, it’s no surprise that you’re mere footsteps from the beach and there’s a charming local pub just two doors down. The South West Coastal Path runs right outside the door of this home and, if you want to explore the area by car, you’ll find Dartmouth a twenty-five-minute drive away and Salcombe half an hour away.

You’ll be a short stroll from the nearby beaches, as well as Salcombe’s main attractions. If you happen to own a boat, you can set sail straight from the private slipway and adventure along the coast. And for those in search of pure relaxation, the terrace provides the perfect spot to sit back and soak in the estuary views. Guests should also note the living room and kitchen are on the top floor with stair access, so this may not be the best option for those with reduced mobility.

The home is part of an operational lighthouse, and the views are second to none – especially from the decked patio. Flexible sleeping arrangements mean this place is ideal for a family or group of friends, though the steep stairs may make it unsuitable for those with limited mobility. It’s worth noting, however, that there's an automatic electronic fog signal, but earplugs are provided during occasional periods of fog or mist. Guests can explore the South West Coast Path, which runs adjacent to the building, or visit Lannacombe Beach, a twelve-minute drive away.

Characterful and bright, this home is situated along three miles of the shingled beaches in Torcross. Originally constructed in the 1800s to house horse-drawn carriages, it's been renovated to retain the original charm and features, such as the exposed roof timbers in the living area. We love how welcoming the space feels, with sofas you want to sink into and a smart kitchen for rustling up Devon-inspired cuisine of your own. Share breakfast around the dining table before heading out for a day in the sun – this home is just metres from the beach. Stretch out on the shores of Slapton Sands while kids splash in the calm waters. When you're feeling peckish, pop home for lunch or grab a bite at one of the quaint eateries and pubs along the shore. Dartmouth and Kingsbridge aren't far – both a twenty-minute drive – if you'd like to pick up the pace and explore more of the South Devon Coast, but there's a quiet charm to the sleepy village of Torcross that we adore. For that very valid reason, we recommend spending as much time as possible out on the decked terrace – whether that’s in the hot tub or simply enjoying a cup of coffee in one of the outdoor chairs is completely up to you, as long as you’re keeping an eye on the horizon. 

Popular with paddle boarders, you might even spot a few going by when you’re taking in the water views. If you’re eager to try it out for yourself, there’s a rental place a five-minute walk away and they’ll see that you’re joining the fray in no time. Prefer to admire the water from afar? Also completely fine, and you might find yourself frequenting the famous Crabshell Inn. With its waterfront position, you’re able to appreciate the surroundings while you sip a pint, and it’s only a five-minute stroll away from home. 

Explore the market town of Kingsbridge, drive to Salcombe and visit as much of South Devon as you can manage in between all of the relaxation you’ll be doing in this home. Kindle a fire in the wood-burning stove and sit back with a glass of wine as you watch the world go by through the floor to ceiling windows.

Heading through the glass doors, you'll see the interior is just as geared towards laid-back living.
