Inside, underfloor heating means you'll be toasty warm no matter the weather, while floor-to-ceiling windows ensure guests enjoy a splendid view from every corner of the home. Food is important to your chef host, so despite the compact size of the kitchen it contains everything you could need. We'd definitely recommend sampling charcuterie made from his rare breed pigs and you'll be supplied with farm fresh eggs on arrival. But it’s not a complete escape from nature either – just a minute walk from this quaint cottage, you’ll also find the sandy shores of Lyme Regis beach.

Full of character inside and out, arriving here is exactly the English seaside abode you’d imagine. With cream walls alongside a bright blue front door and matching sash window frames, a nautical theme immediately springs to mind.

At this intersection where prehistoric and modern times merge into a unique town, your Grade II listed home sits somewhere in the middle – just a five-minute stroll from the fresh waters of Lyme Regis Beach.

Tucked away in the centre, this fully renovated loft immediately feels like somewhere you can relax. We love the original, Georgian features such as the stone wall, lovingly restored to its former glory – but also now functioning as a drinks hatch from the kitchen. Anyone for a top-up of English sparkling wine? While you’re in here, pop the local station on the retro-style radio while you prepare a picnic to take to the beach later in the afternoon.

But before you head off, check out the upstairs. With warming colour palettes and soft furnishings throughout, comfort is easily achieved. This is especially true of the cosy bedrooms, where dusty pinks, upcycled furniture, and floral prints create a real homely atmosphere. Locally, you’ll find museums, a theatre, and a selection of beaches – take your pick between Church Cliff beach, Lyme Regis and Fossil beach.

Lyme Regis Front Beach is a fifteen-minute stroll away, and the town's shops and eateries are nearby, too.

You’ll find your home a ten-minute drive from the surf-lashed Hive Beach. Look for fossils as you pick your way across the sand then enjoy a brisk paddle in the water. In the late afternoon, appease grumbling tummies with some proper pub grub at The Three Horseshoes in Burton Bradstock – it’s only 3.5 miles away.

Take a drive to the coast to visit some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, such as Durdle Door and Chesil Beach, or visit nearby Weymouth to check out seafood restaurants and friendly pubs. When you’re ready to rest, return to your cottage to hunker down by the fire with a glass of wine.

This delightful holiday home can be found on the edge of a farm that’s been here since the 17th century. Staying here gives you the chance to live slowly, and to relax and unwind. 

The cabin is warm and welcoming, adorned with flowers from the farm, and boasting enough windows to flood the space with light. You’ll wake up each morning in the huge bed feeling rested, having enjoyed the kind of deep sleep you only get in the countryside. After a breakfast of fresh eggs, you’ll be ready to explore the area – and there’s plenty to explore. 

Charmouth Beach is ten minutes away by car and is the perfect place for a paddle. Hunt for fossils and skim stones, marvelling that this little haven is in the UK. The farm is only five miles inland from the sea, tucked away in between Dorset and Devon’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – keen walkers will be in heaven. 

After a long day of hiking and paddling, it’s a real treat to watch the sun begin to set over the cow meadow. Pour a glass of wine and admire the views that stretch all the way to Somerset. Later on, sitting around the fire pit, you’ll spot bats swooping through the trees above you. House martins and swallows nest around the farm, too, and you may also spot foxes, hedgehogs, badgers and roe deer. Rare orchids and meadow flowers bloom in the pastures surrounding the home, adding a sweet aroma to the country air. 

This is a perfect sanctuary for two – you’ll never want to leave.

Inside, there’s plenty of room for entertaining and all of the bedrooms are en-suite. There's also an open fire for when the Dorset weather turns chilly. The location is excellent too – this home is in the centre of Lyme Regis, close to pubs, restaurants, cafes, and shops. Take a stroll along the Cobb overlooking the harbour – it’s within walking distance or spend the day on the golden sands of the town’s beach.
