If you’re in search of an easygoing Cotswolds getaway, this home makes a great option. You’ll find it’s just a short drive or bus ride into the heart of Gloucester city centre, while Cheltenham is also within easy reach. There is a large private garden and the open-plan living room and kitchen lends itself perfectly to social gatherings. It’s worth noting this home isn’t suitable for infants or children, but we think it makes a great spot for a refreshing adults-only escape.

The spa is shared only between the host’s family and your group, with the charming cottage itself being connected directly to the spa building, so you can travel between the two without ever going outside. You’ll probably want to spend some time outside though – the surrounding Gloucestershire countryside is a treat for the eyes and for the soul. The garden backs onto fields and you're a short walk away from Bredon Hill (a popular cycling destination), while a great local pub is just a quick fifteen-minute bike ride away, or closer by car. The cottage itself is modern and thoughtfully decorated, with bright skylights, roomy bathrooms and yellow and blue walls that create a relaxing space. After working up an appetite in the pool, gather around the wooden table for dinner before unwinding by the fire with a bottle of wine. Plus, your host is more than happy to help you arrange spa treatments and provide extras like toys, games, bikes and baby equipment – so it's unlikely you'll run out of things to do at this fabulous countryside retreat.

If you ever feel the need to just get away from it all and clear your head for a couple of days, this converted barn at the foothills of the Malvern Hills could be just the ticket. Neighbours are few and far between in these parts, which means that sitting out on the home's outside deck is a perfectly peaceful experience. And given that there's a wood-fired hot tub and a separate wood-burner, this can be done even if the weather gets a little chilly. If it gets too bad, there's another wood-burner inside which you can curl up next to with a good book. As you might imagine, there's no shortage of walking routes to take in the surrounding Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with possible stops along the way including an iron age hill fort, an old quarry and a country pub or two.

It’s no surprise this beautiful home was featured in House & Garden. One look at its carefully curated decor and you’ll know exactly why its interiors were lauded for their salvaged materials and keen sense of vintage design. 
 
Once an old tailor's workshop dating back to 1906, the owners have lovingly restored the original timber-framed and corrugated iron building, keeping much of its characterful history intact while bringing a freshness and individuality to its renovation through thoughtful repurposing.
 
The main living space stunningly contrasts vintage industrial pieces with contemporary modern furnishings to create a boutique atmosphere in which you’ll love relaxing. We love the warmth of the wooden panelling offset by the simple white floors, as well as the midnight blue walls courtesy of Farrow & Ball. The long, rustic dining table beckons celebratory meals and sets a tone of conviviality that is felt throughout, while a Czech pommel horse works as a coffee table next to a Victorian sofa, creating a blend of textures and eras that feels like a seamless step through history.  Factor in the industrial pendants hanging from the ceiling, not to mention the wonderfully comfortable bed dressed in Egyptian cotton sheets, as well as the gorgeous copper shower, and you’ve got everything you need for a singularly stylish stay. 
 
Your locale in the heart of the quintessential Cotswold village of Woodmancote makes it easy to explore this bucolic region, with countless picture-book towns and villages a short car journey away. Cirencester is a twelve-minute drive, Bibury is reachable in twenty-two, while Cheltenham is twenty-three minutes away by car.

Set along the lane which inspired L.S Lowery in his Burford Church painting, this cottage is tucked away from visitors and is one of just four on the road which remains part of Burford Boarding School. A peaceful spot, the cottage is just a minute’s walk from the medieval bridge crossing the River Windrush and all the town’s shops, pubs and restaurants. 

With its distinctive honey-coloured Cotswold stone facade, and an Art Deco panel in the front door – the home a nod's not only to the town's extensive history but also to its link to the Art and Crafts Movement. Upon entering the home you'll be warmly welcomed by a typically English countryside retreat revealing an open plan layout featuring a cosy kitchen, dining area and living area with a wood-burning stove. 

At the back of the cottage, you'll find a hidden garden with a patio, small lawn with a garden bench, planted borders as well as a cute little summer house – perfect for sitting with a book amidst the peace and quiet. The east-west orientation of the garden means it has sunshine on it – weather permitting – throughout the day and on into the evening, making it an idyllic spot for a morning coffee through to evening drinks.

When you're ready to explore the local area, stretch your legs with a blissful country walk around the Cotswolds. Try a five-mile walk out of Burford to Great and Little Barrington along the Windrush Valley and back again, or there's always the option of the two-hour circular walk taking in Fulbrook and Woodford on your way. Burford garden centre is only a mile away and you'll conveniently find the nearest pub (The Highway Inn) just 300 metres away. 

When you arrive home, you needn't worry about traipsing mud through the cottage as there is a handy boot room with a sink, hooks to hang coats, plenty of space to keep boots and shoes.

Set in Ford, an attractive hamlet along the banks of the River Windrush, this romantic cottage offers the highest levels of charm and comfort for your Cotswolds escape. It’s hidden away within the grounds of the host’s own home, but offers complete privacy. There’s a small but well-equipped galley kitchen with a Nespresso machine and milk frother for a little luxury morning coffee. But our favourite bit is the four-poster, king-size bed which guarantees a luxurious night’s sleep. just what you need after a day tackling some of the best hiking routes in the Cotswolds. The Cotswolds Way runs right by the cottage and walks around Sudeley Castle are just a few miles away.

Make the most of the generously sized garden at this home in Highnam on the outskirts of Gloucester. Through the French doors from the outdoor space, you’ll find the well-equipped kitchen-diner – there’s plenty of room here for your group to cook and chat. If you simply must catch up on emails while away, there’s also a desk space in the living room. Or, have a stroll around the village and the Highnam Court estate. The city of Gloucester is 3 miles away and is known for its docks and 11th-century cathedral, while 10 miles away is the town of Cheltenham.

There's something to satisfy everyone's wanderlust at this charming period cottage nestled right in the beating heart of Chipping Campden. This is your gateway to the best of the Cotswolds – Market Hall, The Spa at Cotswold House and Chipping Campden's bustling high street are all within walking distance. And when it's time to explore further afield, jump in the car and you can be in the chocolate-box villages of Bourton-on-the Water and Stow-on-the-Wold in fifteen minutes flat. 

Back at this cosy home away from home, exposed Cotswold stone walls, higgledy-piggledy beams and a crackling wood-burning stove bring all the charm. While we liked the comfortable bedrooms and sparkling bathrooms, what really blew us away was the impressive kitchen and dining area. It's the true hub of the home, with plenty of room to cook and dine together. We can easily imagine mornings here, the French doors open wide as you sip coffee on the patio and tuck into a lazy breakfast around the dining table. We also loved the techy extras, like nest heating, electronic locks and Google Home Bluetooth speakers. With the occasional bleat from the neighbouring sheep your only distraction, it doesn't get much more charming than this.

A true recipient of the Plum Award, this home has also received the Green Tourism Silver Award, in recognition of this host's dedication to green initiatives such as energy and water efficiency and mindful waste reduction. Your host can share recommendations on local farmers markets and shops selling locally-sourced food, as well as eco-friendly activities such as cycling routes and nature trails to help you enjoy your stay in Chipping Campden, all the while reducing your carbon footprint. It's a win-win.

You'll love gathering your guests at the dining table to enjoy a traditional English roast, cooked with love in the kitchen, before settling down for an evening of board games in the lounge. Or, if the weather is nice, you have ninety-four acres of the owners' farmland to explore, from beech woodland to perfectly manicured lawns – don't forget your walking boots. The closest country pub is a mile's walk away, while the town of Painswick is a three-mile drive. You're in an excellent position to take a road trip and visit the charming Cotswold villages – don't forget to treat yourself to some afternoon tea on your travels.
