There’s an understated elegance to the interiors – the tones are muted and well-considered to create a space that’s both sophisticated and inviting. While you already have everything you need to ensure a blissful stay – the kitchen’s fully equipped and the super king size bed is absurdly comfortable – your host is on hand to make it that bit more special with a choice of optional extras. Perhaps you’ll pick the breakfast hamper, or if your team’s in the playoffs, go for the Sky Sports package. When it’s time to explore, Pittville Park is a ten-minute walk away for morning strolls that clear the cobwebs and picnics when the weather is nice. Montpellier, the smartest part of town, with tasting menu restaurants and farm-to-table eateries, is only a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep.

From seasonal British fodder in an old Art Deco cinema to international fare by the leafy Montpellier Gardens, you’re spoilt for choice for places to eat. Begin your mornings with a cup of tea in the courtyard before strolling through Pittville Park, a thirty-minute walk away, or time your stay right and experience one of the town’s famous events – you’re less than fifteen minutes from Imperial Gardens the annual Music Festival is held.

Take advantage of balmy days with a stroll through the endless countryside that surrounds your home – there are two circular walks close by, including a 5.5-mile ramble from Alderton to Dumbleton and back. Or why not jump in the car and explore the Regency town of Cheltenham? It’s only a twenty-minute drive away. What better way to end another idyllic afternoon in the Cotswolds than with some pub grub and a glass of rosé at the Gardeners’ Arms, just a five-minute stroll from your doorstep.

Second Nature is the best of both worlds. Found on the edge of Cheltenham, it’s only a short drive from the city, while still feeling incredibly idyllic and rural because of its immediate surroundings. Ideally placed for countryside walks, the Cotswold Way passes right behind the home, along with several other walking paths. We loved the attention to detail – the handmade, one-of-a-kind four-poster bed is truly something else. And let’s not forget about the views… We particularly enjoyed gazing at the green fields from the living room window.

Housed under an old coaching arch, this courtyard cottage offers a peaceful rural retreat for all the family. With shared access to Upper Court's beautifully-kept grounds and gardens, so you can take long riverside walks beside the lake, feed the ducks, stoke up the barbecue and gather your ensemble for magical nights around the firepit – all while taking in the fresh countryside air. If you feel like a spot of morning exercise or are looking to entertain the kids, there's a tennis court, croquet lawn and an outdoor covered swimming pool to splash about in whatever the weather. It's a crowd-pleaser inside and out. The cottage itself couldn't get much cosier, with a bucolic atmosphere from the moment you step foot into the home. Chuck a log on the fire, settle into the rosy-red sofa with a good book and enjoy a moment's rest and relaxation beneath the striking wooden beams. We love how the stone flooring and original features are softened by the floral decor,  antique rugs and old china filled cabinets that will have you feeling all warm and comfy from the get-go. It's a sociable open-plan living space with plenty of seating for the entire group. Bring the family together for a feast in the grand dining room with punchy-red walls and a lovely wooden table that's fit for any occasion. Through to the bedrooms, where the converted hayloft is the real highlight – this fantastic use of space means the children can bunk in together. If you can ever peel yourself away from this idyllic setting, the nearest town of Tewkesbury and its charming Abbey is less than a fifteen-minute drive away, while Cheltenham's Pittville Park (only 8 miles away) makes for a great group day out.

Nestled into the Sudeley Castle Estate, fringing the charming village of Winchcombe, you'll find this Cotswold stone 18th Century farmhouse. Spread out over three floors, with a separate annex to spill into, this home is the perfect country escape for an extended family or group of friends. Climb the flight of stairs to discover luxurious bedrooms to sleep all fourteen of you, with crisp, white linens and many with en-suites. Back downstairs, the layout is set up for easy socialising with a spacious kitchen made for action and two dining spaces. But there are also cosy nooks to retreat to, with a separate playroom and snug complete with a crackling fire.  Outside, kids and furry friends alike can roam free on the immaculate lawns, all under the watchful gaze of the grown-ups from the raised deck terrace as you fire up the barbecue. And when it's time to get out and about, you're right on the edge of Winchcombe, with restaurants, shops, and bars just a stroll away, as well as easy access to the area's many breathtaking walking trails. Or call in on your neighbourhoods at Sudeley Castle (ten minutes on foot) – guests have complimentary entrance during the open season, don't you know.

Stop off at one of the stand-out restaurants for lunch and then return home to where understated comfort awaits.

The homeliness mostly comes down to the mix of old and new – find the exposed beams overhead, the brick walls and statement fireplaces, and then sweep your eyes over the glass conservatory and curated art, the furnishings and beautiful colour palette. The entire home has a rustic touch that makes it feel like an elegant farmhouse. 

Pick a spot and get cosy – whether that be in front of the wood-burning stove, in the bright conservatory, or outside where you can enjoy a book and cup of coffee on the manicured lawn.

Come dinner time, pull up a pew (literally) at the long dining table by the window. Two refectory tables can accommodate up to 26 people for a grand celebration. The kitchen has a farmhouse feel with its range-style cooker and old coach wheel displayed as a reminder of the building’s former purpose. Bedrooms and bathrooms are delightfully pastoral with floral wallpaper reminiscent of the Victorian era and darkwood antique furniture. Outside, dining can be set up at the wrought-iron table. This home is set on a 15-acre estate with a two-acre lake, tennis courts, a croquet lawn, games room, on-site pottery and a shared outdoor covered swimming pool. The quaint village of Kemerton is a five-minute walk away with its local pub and coffee shop, and Tewkesbury is a twelve-minute drive away for grocery shopping and days out.

While the bedrooms don’t boast tons of space, the cosy living room and extra reception area provide enough room for your group to sprawl out and unwind while dinner's being prepared in the big kitchen. But for us, this home is all about its prime location. Just a short walk from Cheltenham's historic city centre, if you don’t feel like cooking, there’s a whole host of restaurants to enjoy. And for ventures further into the Cotswolds, you'll find free on-street parking nearby. 


The Woodman

Located just a short stroll from Cheltenham town centre, this contemporary townhouse is perfectly positioned for a day at the races. While the modern decor here won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, we love the panelled walls and the pops of colour throughout the home. All the rooms are en-suite so it’s a great option for a group of friends as everyone will have their own privacy. And as well as a lounge and kitchen/diner, you’ll have a courtyard garden to socialise in when the weather allows.

This renovated coach house has been thoughtfully curated into a cosy retreat. Inside, the rooms are simple and family friendly with flexible sleeping arrangements. There is also a private terrace with a barbecue – perfect for lazy summer days. Private parking is available and you’ll find everything you could need within walking distance. From here, it’s a short stroll to Cheltenham’s restaurants, bars and shops. There are also plenty of hiking and cycle trails to be discovered in the surrounding area. 

Where the Love is

Once the hayloft to one of the grandest homes in the Winchcombe area, this gorgeous barn conversion now presents a luxurious property in its own right. With characteristics from the 1880s, original features contrast beautifully with the high-standard furnishings and modern designs seen throughout the home. 

Upon entering the barn, you'll step straight into the stylish open-plan kitchen-dining area and living room, with exposed beams and characterful stone walls. We particularly love the lime green velvet sofa, which adds a tasteful pop of contemporary personality to the otherwise countryside design aesthetic. Across the rest of the home, you'll find soothing earthy tones and soft fabrics and furnishings that tempt those much-needed relaxation moments. 

When the weather is kind, enjoy alfresco meals on the patio terrace or a refreshing glass of wine in the sunshine while the kids play on the wooden swing set and slide in the courtyard. 

In prime position for exploring the historic town of Winchcombe and the north Cotswolds, enjoy the famously good walking in the area (preferably on foot) or take road trips out in the car to the surrounding Cotswolds villages – all of which are brimming with quintessential English countryside charm and scenary. 

The Cotswolds Retreat

Whether you're visiting Cheltenham for business or pleasure, this modern townhouse is a fantastic option. You're close to the city centre, making it easy to explore on foot – though free parking is available if you'd rather get around on four wheels. Back home, there's a cosy lounge, a sleek kitchen, and four comfortable bedrooms. Two also have the option to be arranged with twin beds, providing flexible sleeping arrangements. The cherry on top is the private garden, the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the sunshine.

Clarentine

Off to Cheltenham? This home sits on the historic grounds of a Victorian hall, putting an elegant twist on your usual romantic getaway or solo trip. The apartment itself has a fuss-free interior on the ground floor. But as for a prime location, we love that you'll be within walking distance of Pittville Park and the town centre. While the garden is shared with your neighbours, the decked terrace is all yours for sipping sundowners after touring the nearby sights.

Pittville Paradise

Tucked along a tree-lined lane on the outskirts of Winchcombe, this sweet cottage is as cosy as it looks. The red brick exterior exudes a simple country charm, but step inside and you'll be surprised by the sophisticated living space and contemporary comforts.

From the honey-coloured rug to the blue velvet sofa, pops of bold colour are everywhere you look. The roomy kitchen is a dream for home cooks – it's stocked with bakeware, crockery and everything else you'll need to rustle up family suppers to share around the dining table. Another surprise is the private sun-dappled terrace. It calls for barbecues and sundowners in the fresh air, while the shared pasture is perfect for dogs. But our favourite part is by far the decadent bathroom. End the day with a bubble-filled soak in the freestanding tub – a glass of wine in hand – or if you're not one for baths, the rainfall feature in the walk-in shower is just as lush.

Outside, Winchcombe's medieval charms and rolling countryside are begging to be explored. Don your comfiest shoes and set off towards Sudeley Castle or the Cotswold Way – there's a public footpath just off the lane that connects to it – followed by a pint and pub grub at the local taverns in the village. For a change of scenery, Cheltenham, Bourton-on-the-Water and many other chocolate-box Cotswolds villages are within driving distance.

Charm of the Cotswolds

Oozing in medieval character with its sixteenth-century facade and original features throughout, Mercia hides a little secret behind its quirky front. You wouldn't expect it, yet a light-filled and contemporary entertaining space features at the back, with fabulous views of the Isbourne Valley and Sudeley Hill. It opens up to a large patio with seating and a barbecue, followed by a long sloping garden, so you can continue admiring the vistas while something nice is grilling and children play on the lawn. 

There are plenty of cosy spaces to retire to after a day of Cotswold exploration – from the sitting room with a charming inglenook fireplace to an inviting roll-top bathtub in the master suite. While you may want to explore the wider area, you could leave your car parked for the duration of your stay, as you're just a few minutes’ walk from award-winning pubs and restaurants, boutiques and delis; if you're after some history and culture, Sudeley Castle is nearby, while the Cotswold Way awaits walkers and nature lovers.

Country Chimneys

This rural cottage in Redmarley D'Abitot promises a serene escape for a small family or group of friends. Part of a Grade II listed farmhouse, you can enjoy views across the paddocks and orchards here – expect to see the owners and their dressage horses from time-to-time. To make the most of the scenery, unwind in the private hot tub – just the ticket after a day exploring the great outdoors on your doorstep. Location-wise, this is an outdoor enthusiasts’ dream – with forests, walking and cycling trails, and rock climbing, you’ll always find something to keep you occupied. 

Orchard Charm

Located on the Sudeley Castle estate, just a short walk from the castle and its gardens, this quaint eighteenth-century cottage catches the eye with a beautiful Cotswold stone exterior. Positioned on the outskirts of historic Winchcombe, you'll benefit from incredible views of the village as well as easy access to plenty of cafes, shops and restaurants – this is an excellent base from which to explore the Cotswold's outstanding natural beauty. Inside the cottage, a cosy wood-burning stove awaits – perfect for cold nights in – especially after a day spent walking through this idyllic scenery. The country-chic kitchen, dining table for eight and wonderful garden with expansive views are just the icing on the cake. If you'd like a change from the picture-postcard villages, then the charming town of Cheltenham is just eight miles away, while the beautiful cities of Oxford and Bath are a little over an hour's drive.

A Cozy Retreat

Set within the grounds of a 15th-century castle and within walking distance of the Cotswold's town of Winchcombe, the setting of this dog-friendly cottage is a knockout. Inside, the traditional interiors are befitting of this period home, and the wooden deck outside is a nice touch for evening drinks. Though it's worth noting, it's shared with the two neighbouring cottages, so it isn't the most private of spaces. Ready to stretch your legs? The castle and gardens, which you'll have complimentary access to, will keep you busy. Or mosey into charming Winchcombe with it's local inn – just 200 metres from your door.

The Old Forge

Sitting on the outskirts of Cheltenham town centre, this home is ideally positioned for a refreshing city break. Outside, there is private parking for up to three cars and you’ll find great public transport links. It’s also just a ten-minute drive to the heart of Gloucester. And while there’s plenty to explore in the surroundings, you’ll find this home has lots to offer, too. From the private garden to the cosy living room and the snug bedrooms, this is a great option for families and groups in search of ease and comfort. You’ll also find three of the bedrooms have zip-and-link beds – providing flexible sleeping arrangements.
