We can think of nothing better than a balmy summer evening spent out in your private garden with friends or family. On top of that, you'll find a charming little balcony from the master bedroom to sip your morning coffee and ease into the day. Inside, it's a picture of pearly white furnishings, sleek surfaces and monochromatic artwork. You'll notice cream sofas, ghost chairs and a large ornate mirror in the bedrooms, creating an air of elegance around the home. Plus, there's a light and tidy study area for those looking to work from home during their stay. Outside, we really liked the home’s location – the top attractions on picturesque Bermondsey Street are just a five-minute walk away. Although the real highlight is the home's proximity to London Bridge – under twenty minutes (on foot) from The Shard and the surrounding hub, full to the brim with fine-dine restaurants and hip bars.

This has got to be one of the most amazing views in London. Moored near Tower Bridge on the Thames’ south bank, this stunning home is the former 'HMS Harpy’. Once an Edwardian base for customs and excise officers, and a landing stage for King George V, it’s now a unique and beautifully maintained floating home. The oldest and one of the largest homes on the river, The Harpy is unlike purpose-built houseboats – all the cabins are above water level with river views. History fans and nautical nuts will have plenty to get their teeth into, those interested in luxury river living will appreciate the opportunity to sit out on deck, and if vintage furniture is your thing you'll be able to explore pieces from the 1920s, '30s, and '50s. The dining table was even designed for Winston Churchill's home, Chartwell. We love the vast living space on the upper deck – it's bright, comfortable, and full of character. Bedrooms and bathrooms are nostalgic and the kitchen is well fitted out for cooking onboard. There's mains electricity, obviously, as well as mains gas for heating and cooking, and filtered mains water. All the mod cons are present too, from Wifi and Sky Q TV to gate entry phones and Sonos. So well-known that it's been featured in several movies (most notably A Fish Called Wanda), a stay here is an all-round incredible experience and one you'll be talking about for years to come.

Modern and bright, this apartment is close to several restaurants and cafes. But the proximity to some of London's most iconic sights is what makes it feel special, including Borough Market, the Tate Modern, and Tower Bridge. Though it's still roomy enough for six, we think this works best for a small family or two couples. If you do choose to sleep two additional guests on the sofa bed, you can always find extra breathing room on the terrace. It overlooks neighbours and isn't the most private, but it is a nice bonus – especially in central London.

The apartment boasts double-height ceilings, exposed brick and beams, and large windows that look out over London rooftops. Look out for the original winch that hoisted the leathers up to the third floor. While four guests can be accommodated here – with two sleeping on the sofa bed – we think it’s a more comfortable base for two.

Feel the buzz of London’s swanky financial district while staying in this sleek and modern Canary Wharf apartment. Minimalist in design, this home’s views do all the talking with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in heaps of light. The building has plenty of excellent facilities to take advantage of, including a gym, a spinning studio, a private cinema, and a roof terrace to take in even more spectacular views. While Canary Wharf can be quieter on weekends, there is plenty to do in the surrounding area with Mudchute City Farm less than a twenty-minute walk away, Greenwich just over a half-hour stroll away and Canary Wharf station just  ten minutes from your door. Hop on the DLR or the Jubilee Line to easily reach the trendy brewery bars of Bermondsey, the ever-lively London Bridge, and countless other sights.

Not every apartment has a private balcony facing The Shard. A fuss-free base, this modern home is ideal for travellers looking to put the iconic Tate Modern and the famous Borough Food Market within walking distance. While cultural gems are dotted around your doorstep, London Bridge tube station is just five minutes away for easy commutes. It's perfect for couples, but the sofa bed extends an invitation to guests three and four. Plus, we love the bathtub for evening chillouts.

Originally built in the 1730s, this sumptuous apartment is a shining example of Georgian architecture. The building is one of the oldest in Mayfair – in 1821, famed Buckingham Palace architect Thomas Cubbit extended it – and you can see the character, history and period details in every room. It feels like a home you want to linger in, with new surprises waiting at every turn. We love the antique furniture – a clawfoot desk here, a fauteuil armchair there – but the smart kitchen, stylish bathroom and mod-cons like a rainfall shower, espresso machine and Netflix bring things in the 21st-century. We think it's the best of both worlds, and the location is even better.

Ritzy and charming, Mayfair is home to leafy squares, cobbled lanes lined with cafes and some of the oldest shops in London. Fashionistas will enjoy shopping along New Bond Street and Saville Row (a five-minute walk away), art fiends can browse the nearby galleries and auction houses (Phillips Auction House & Gallery is right next door) and foodies will love the bevvy of gourmet eateries nearby. With Bond Street Station only six minutes away on foot, travelling around the rest of the city is easy – perfect if you fancy a bit of sightseeing.
