There's a lot to love about this West London loft conversion. First, there's the industrial-inspired design and smart layout. It's spread across two floors (and the stairs can be a little steep), with the living area perched on the top level to maximise natural light. There's also a well-equipped (albeit compact) kitchen, while the dining table can double as a desk if you're in town for business. We also like the location – it's about a thirty-minute train ride from central London, but it has a lot to offer. Kew Gardens and other green spaces are within walking distance, Chiswick's business parks can be reached by bus, and Heathrow is a short drive away.

The attention to detail in this home is evident from the moment you arrive. We love how it has maintained a lot of the original features of the Grade-II listed building it is housed in, such as the sash windows and bedroom shutters. The interiors are very attractive with nods to mid-century design, which complement the period features for an elegant look. The location here won’t be for everyone, as the immediate area is lacking in attractions. But, you do have access to an allocated parking space and the train service into London Waterloo is frequent.

Located in Richmond upon Thames, one of London's most attractive boroughs, this home has a fabulous address. Keen gardeners will love it here – the house is just a three-minute stroll to the Lion Gate, one of the entrances to Kew Gardens. If that wasn't enough, your lovely hosts provide four free tickets to the gardens, and this membership also gives you 10% off the shop there. There are plenty of chic boutiques, restaurants and bars on your doorstep to sample. Or, go for a walk along Richmond Riverside and explore Richmond Park. You can reach Central London in thirty minutes by Tube or train too. 

Back at this home, enjoy a cup of tea in the garden with its pretty flower borders, or relax on the sofa in the living room and pick a book from the shelf. We love the French doors, which allow light to flood in, as well as the neutral hues enlivened by pops of blue and green. You'll find this contemporary townhome in Barnes, just across the bridge from buzzy Hammersmith. It's located on a charming street close to the Thameside towpath and the area's pubs and restaurants, so there's plenty to do if you decide to stay local. Families and friends will have ample room to stretch out here. We love the cosy lounge, the light-filled kitchen, and the two comfortable bedrooms. Remote workers can get down to business in the separate study, which has a sofa bed for guests five and six. Factor in the sun-kissed patio, balcony, and private parking, and it's no surprise it caught our eye.

In keeping with this, you'll find all of the usual delights – duck ponds, parks, a charming high street and quaint pubs right on your doorstep. It's an ideal base for those after a peaceful space in the city that you can relax in with friends and family, and one in which you will truly feel welcomed and at home. We love the comfortable and cosy rooms in the home, especially the master bedroom with its deep blue walls and plush pillows. On warmer days, make memories in the private back garden or take long afternoon strolls through this residential, and consequently very quiet, family-friendly area. The train station is also only a ten-minute walk for quick and easy access into central London (less than twenty minutes). Return to your inviting new home for a cheese and wine night in the country-style kitchen-come dining area, before enjoying a nightcap in front of the glow of the crackling fire.

First of all, we love the book-filled living room with ming vases and object d’art adding a personal feel to the forest-green dresser. Big windows bathe this place in natural light. There’s a desk in here (and another in the second bedroom) for those that need to work remotely, and a collection of wines on display for a post-work wind-down. 

A wall of glass doors leads to the private patio garden, providing a lovely sun spot for those wishing to sit out and unwind long into the balmy summer evenings. Back inside, the dine-in kitchen is bright and sunny and the bathroom has a tub for a soak at the end of the day.

In terms of neighbourhood, you’re in leafy-green Chiswick – an affluent area with a friendly village-like feel, offering elegant eateries and a whole plethora of classy cafés and designer boutiques along the High Road. A fifteen-minute walk across the Kew Bridge sees you at the sprawling botanic gardens, while you can join the Thames River Path for a traffic-free stroll or cycle in just five minutes (your host kindly provides two bicycles for guest use). At the end of a busy day in London, we can't think of anything better than having a long luxurious soak in the silver freestanding bath.
