Charles Dickens Museum is a mere four-minute stroll, while the British Museum is just over ten minutes on foot. Top-ranking universities, such as the London School of Economics and Political Science, University College London and King's College, are all under a twenty-minute walk, as is the London Stock Exchange, Covent Garden and St. Paul's Cathedral. Or if you fancy an evening at the theatre, the West End is just over a twenty-minute saunter. Of course, there are plenty of fine restaurants and bars right on your doorstep. Set in a traditional English mews, this place has a chic industrial style. We love the large windows that let light flood in, as well as the engineered oak floors. We were really surprised by how quiet this abode is, given its locale. This home also has that oh so rare outdoor space – the balcony is ideal for having a pre-dinner glass of Champagne. There are various laptop areas for studying or working here too. Perfect for corporate guests, students, small families or friends looking to get the most out of London, this home really delivers.

Decidedly modern, this split-level flat caught our eye with its luxurious extras, industrial-chic design and super central location. Our favourite room is the glossy kitchen, which is decked out with all the amenities you'll need – double Siemens ovens, a humidity-controlled fridge, top-of-the-range cookware and even a Nordic Quooker boiling tap, just to name a few. We think keen chefs and amateur cooks alike will love rustling up a tasty breakfast or hearty dinner under the skylight. 

Both bedrooms are as comfortable as they are stylish – one even has access to a small, narrow patio – and the bathrooms are the definition of grand, with their lavish rainfall showers and polished marble walls. And we adore the exposed grey brick scattered around, most notably in the living room – it's the perfect area to relax after a busy day taking advantage the pubs, bookstores and museums that dot this corner of London. 

Speaking of location, Bloomsbury is an excellent base for a stay in the capital. The British Museum is only thirteen minutes on foot, while iconic spots like Covent Garden, St Paul's Cathedral and Trafalgar Square are also within walking distance – about half an hour, give or take. Whether you want to shop on Oxford Street, sample the gastronomic delights in Soho or just roam the city in search of adventure, you'll be well-placed for exploring – especially with Chancery Lane station less than ten minutes away.

Hot off the press, this apartment is a short stroll from Fleet Street. The Strand, the River Thames, the Royal Courts of Justice and the London School of Economics, along with the Tate Modern and the British Museum, are within walking distance too. Such an excellent location will mean this home will be subject to some city noise, but that's to be expected. Once a place for textile dying in the 15th century, this newly refurbished apartment, with a private lift, sits within an exclusive Victorian development. There's plenty of room for entertaining in the spacious open-plan living space, and if you need to work from home, the large dining table doubles up as a laptop workspace.

The building doesn't have a lift, so expect to climb stairs, but the apartment is perfectly formed for couples or small groups. Pocket-sized, it may be, it has all you need to unwind comfortably. Just note that though a third guest could sleep on a sofa bed, we think it's better for two.

It’s worth noting the apartment isn’t suitable for children under 8, but it’s the ideal base for older families and couples in search of style and comfort in a fantastic location. The cherry on top is the private patio – although a little plain, it's still a lovely spot to enjoy a cup of tea in the morning sun. It's worth pointing out that two guests will sleep on a sofa bed here and that the building lacks a lift. As for location, cafes, bars, and eateries line the nearby streets, while multiple Tube stations are within walking distance. You're also a short stroll from Soho, the British Museum, and Oxford Street.

Minutes away from the famous Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, and Soho, what's a morning commute on the tube at rush hour compared to stepping straight out onto the lively high street? This is city living at its most literal. No trip is made too difficult and no sight need to be left unticked off your bucket list. Whilst there is so much fun to be had outside, this flat does not neglect the idea that work may still call. A big dining table allows you to dedicate some workspace to answer those all-important emails and a coffee machine is ready and set up to keep you energised. Spanning the length of the stylish monochrome-tinged living space, large glass windows can be opened up and bring the city up to you, with the faint buzz of pedestrians bustling down below. Its modern and chic design, sporting clean black lines, white cabinets, and splashes of colour truly offers the metropolitan lifestyle of an archetypal, young professional here in the big city.

From this traditionally-minded yet well-maintained Mayfair apartment, there's a little taste of luxury in every direction. To your east is Liberty department store and there are further designer shopping options to your north on Bond Street. Head south and in two minutes, you could be on Savile Row, while wandering further west along these embassy-lined streets will get you to Grosvenor Square. However, despite this unbeatable location, we found this home to be extremely peaceful and a welcome refuge from the non-stop going-ons of Central London. The chic kitchen was a highlight here, with smart brass finishes contrasting nicely with honeycomb marble tiling, but let's not kid ourselves — with this many renowned restaurants only a short stroll away, don't be surprised if this home's oven remains undisturbed during the duration of your stay.

Smack-dab in Soho, this apartment is as central as can be. Regent's Street and Carnaby Street are moments away, while a leisurely walk will take you towards Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, and many of the city's other landmarks. With nearby eateries, pubs, and bars, it's no wonder the location caught our eye. As for the apartment, there's natural light, contemporary decor, and plenty of space for sprawling out. In town for work? The desk in the bedroom is ideal for business travellers. Just note that two guests will sleep on the sofa bed, making this a better fit for short stays.

Nestled between Soho and Mayfair, moments away from Oxford Street and Regent Street, you’ll be able to explore the city on foot and sample all this vibrant area has to offer – from shops to restaurants and the West End theatres. The apartment offers plenty of space for a family or a group of friends, but do bear in mind that some outside noise is possible here, particularly in the bedroom which faces the street.

A stylish, state-of-the-art home set on a serene mews street in Bloomsbury, this two-bedroom apartment is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a peaceful corner that's close to the action. The interior is decorated in a mid-century-meets-industrial style, with Crittall-style windows and doors, a minimalist kitchen and elegant furniture that's sure to appeal to the style-conscious. It's a theme that continues into the bedrooms, with exposed brick walls, ample built-in storage and an opulent en-suite attached to the master bedroom. One of the joys of Bloomsbury is that pretty much everything is within walking or cycling distance. There are plenty of hidden gems tucked away down backstreets and side alleys, too, including plenty of classic English pubs, cool coffee shops and a collection of lesser-known museums. Elsewhere, the nearby Brunswick Centre has an assortment of shops, an arthouse cinema and a Waitrose for stocking up on essentials. There's also plenty of green space nearby at Russell Square, Gray's Inn Gardens and Coram's Fields. Finally, the bars and restaurants of Clerkenwell and Exmouth Market are within a ten-minute walk, while Covent Garden and Soho are slightly further afield. If you don't fancy walking, or the weather isn't playing ball, Chancery Lane and Farringdon stations are around ten minutes from your front door.

You might think it's asking a lot, but this home delivers on all fronts. There's a huge amount of space here, with the expansive open-plan living area and kitchen an innately social place for guests to gather, while the bedrooms each have an en-suite and tons of storage space. The decor is simple but effective — the herringbone parquet flooring works nicely with the glistening white kitchen and mid-century furniture. And that's before we even get to the local area that's overflowing with luxe attractions, from Michelin-starred restaurants and fine art dealers to the age-old loveliness of Green Park, just a five-minute walk away.

Imagine the dream London pad with modern good looks and the most central location, in the heart of all the action. This apartment is a design lover’s dream, with contemporary furniture from furniture wunderkinds Hem and tons of natural light courtesy of the wall-to-wall windows. There’s a neat little balcony for those morning coffees or pre-dinner drinks and bustling Chinatown is right outside your front door. Walk for two minutes to get to Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus or Soho. Spend your days (and nights) immersing yourself in London life, with shopping, sightseeing, eating out and dancing ‘til the sun comes up. Then come back to your delightful apartment for rest and relaxation in style.

When it comes to London neighbourhoods, some visitors are guilty of overlooking Farringdon, which is a pretty big sin in our books — not only is it excellently located between the bright lights of the city centre and the trendier East, but it's full of exciting restaurants, interesting museums and industrial architecture. It's also home to effortlessly cool apartments, such as this one.

In the open-concept living-kitchen area, light flows through the space thanks to windows on either end. The design is definitely Scandi in influence — clock the clean lines and preference for wood surfaces — but the abstract artwork stops it from feeling too identikit. Rather pleasingly for a home for two, the cobalt kitchen has a wealth of sleek surface space for whipping up romantic dinners, while the pristinely tiled bathroom has a tub that will surely sing to you after a long day on your feet.

Although the surrounding neighbourhood has a welcomingly quiet residential feel, some of the UK capital's most famous sights are only a short walk away — both The British Museum and St Paul's Cathedral will take you all of twenty minutes to reach.

Moments from Covent Garden, this apartment offers a sense of simplicity in the heart of the city. The location is undoubtedly fantastic. Not only is the famous market a few steps away, but the West End's theatres, Soho's cocktail bars, and plenty of shops and eateries are also within easy reach. Back home, you'll find a bright living room with a sofa bed, a duo of cosy bedrooms (our favourite is the main suite), and all the essentials needed for a fuss-free stay. In such a buzzing area, there may be some street noise, but we think that's a fair trade.

A stone's throw from Covent Garden and Shaftesbury Avenue, this third-floor apartment is the definition of central.
