From Oxford Street to Buckingham Palace, sightseeing here is a breeze. Though the dining table doesn't seat the whole group at capacity, there's space in the living room and out on the terrace (a rarity in London). Plus, with so many restaurants on your doorstep, you'll likely be eating out more than in. The home is comfortable and modern, but there's not loads of natural light, and two guests will sleep on a sofa bed. But, factor in the central location and picturesque neighbourhood and it's easy to see why it's in our collection.

This apartment is located in the heart of Mayfair, one of the most exclusive areas in central London. The light-filled living space features large windows with beautiful views of North Audley Street and Hyde Park beyond – just a ten-minute stroll from your door. The home sleeps up to four adults, with a main bedroom that can be converted into twin beds and a convertible double sofa bed in the living room. We particularly liked the fireplace and sleek kitchen that creates a sociable space to relax after busy days in the city. Located just minutes away from Bond Street Tube station, Selfridges, and some of London's best restaurants, you couldn't ask to be better placed.

Originally built in the 1730s, this sumptuous apartment is a shining example of Georgian architecture. The building is one of the oldest in Mayfair – in 1821, famed Buckingham Palace architect Thomas Cubbit extended it – and you can see the character, history and period details in every room. It feels like a home you want to linger in, with new surprises waiting at every turn. We love the antique furniture – a clawfoot desk here, a fauteuil armchair there – but the smart kitchen, stylish bathroom and mod-cons like a rainfall shower, espresso machine and Netflix bring things in the 21st-century. We think it's the best of both worlds, and the location is even better.

Ritzy and charming, Mayfair is home to leafy squares, cobbled lanes lined with cafes and some of the oldest shops in London. Fashionistas will enjoy shopping along New Bond Street and Saville Row (a five-minute walk away), art fiends can browse the nearby galleries and auction houses (Phillips Auction House & Gallery is right next door) and foodies will love the bevvy of gourmet eateries nearby. With Bond Street Station only six minutes away on foot, travelling around the rest of the city is easy – perfect if you fancy a bit of sightseeing.

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants and bars in the area too, but we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to pass up a night on the town for a chilled-out evening at home. Gather together around the dining table to enjoy a meal with city views, enjoy a luxurious bath, then kick back and unwind on the plump sofa, a glass of wine in hand.

From this traditionally-minded yet well-maintained Mayfair apartment, there's a little taste of luxury in every direction. To your east is Liberty department store and there are further designer shopping options to your north on Bond Street. Head south and in two minutes, you could be on Savile Row, while wandering further west along these embassy-lined streets will get you to Grosvenor Square. However, despite this unbeatable location, we found this home to be extremely peaceful and a welcome refuge from the non-stop going-ons of Central London. The chic kitchen was a highlight here, with smart brass finishes contrasting nicely with honeycomb marble tiling, but let's not kid ourselves — with this many renowned restaurants only a short stroll away, don't be surprised if this home's oven remains undisturbed during the duration of your stay.

Fancy a bit of greenery? This apartment puts Green Park, St James Park, and Hyde Park on your doorstep. When you're not enjoying the fresh air, take advantage of Mayfair's cafes, restaurants, and high-end shops. Or hop on the Tube, just a short walk away, to explore further afield. The apartment is bright and stylish, though some rooms are snug. There's a well-appointed kitchen, a duo of bedrooms and bathrooms, and a comfortable living space. Factor in the central location, and we think it ticks the boxes.

This apartment is all about location – when it comes to Central London, you could hardly ask for a better place to be. Just a five-minute stroll from bustling Oxford Street, with trendy Soho and classy Covent Garden within easy walking distance, this pad is a great choice for those looking to have dining and entertainment options right on the doorstep. Inside, it's bright and practical, with lift access to the apartment floor, so you don't need to carry heavy luggage up a flight of stairs. While the home is down a quiet residential street, bear in mind that the central location means some street noise is to be expected.

With some of the best bits of the city within a few minutes' walk – Regent Street, Mayfair, Piccadilly Circus – this newly built apartment is perfectly placed. Inside, there’s no scrimping on the details, which makes for a home chock full of character. The furniture is positively swoon-worthy; sink into a beautifully upholstered bed at the end of a busy day of shopping and theatre-going. Kitchen appliances – such as the impressive Gaggenau oven – are high spec. Art lovers will appreciate the original art on the walls, and the designer vases and trinkets on display add a touch of cool.

This mews house in Mayfair caught our eye with its fantastic location and abundance of space – we couldn't believe this was all for one couple. A rarity for London is the two outdoor spaces, including a roof terrace and a patio. Inside, you'll find a large living room and two bathrooms here. The latter is perfect for avoiding any morning conflict and getting you out the door quickly, which is ideal given you're near hotspots like Hyde Park and Bond Street. We also liked the fuss-free kitchen, perfect if you somehow grow tired of all the fine cuisine in the surrounding areas.
