Positioned in an enviable location, a 2-minute stroll from Hyde Park, this lovely white stucco-fronted apartment has easy access to Little Venice canals and Paddington Station. A leisurely walk across the expansive greenery of Hyde Park takes you to the myriad museums of South Kensington – the V&A, Natural History, and Science Museum. There are plenty of chic eateries, bars and cafés on your doorstep, but the natural minimalism and calming interior of this apartment might invite you to spend an evening in. Raw wood accents and houseplants brighten up the pristine white walls. The dining table sits in a sunny bay window, offering the perfect spot for breakfast before a big day out. Just off the master bedroom, French doors open up to a tiny, flower-filled balcony with a couple of bistro chairs to take in the sun and a twisting spiral staircase that leads to a shared roof terrace – a rarity in central London.

London is a city that isn't short of an art gallery or two and this apartment takes influence from some of these cultural institutions. Illuminated by natural light from the huge window at the far side of the living room, the white walls are covered with a huge range of colourful works and there are curios dotted about here and there, too.

In addition to this eye-catching decoration, the design is definitely contemporary in flavour, particularly the chic white leather sofa, transparent dining chairs and a minimalist kitchen heavy on the sleek surfaces. The mezzanine level adds another layer to this home — both figuratively and literally — and offers an office, as well as another cosy lounge.

Although the street on which this home resides is certainly residential, there's plenty to see and do nearby. The corner of the huge Kensington Gardens can be reached in only eight minutes on foot, while the vintage boutiques and cute brunch spots of Portobello Road take around five.

If space and quiet in London are at the top of your list, you've just found a pearl. This lovely home has plenty of both – a rarity this close to the city centre. It’s a two-minute walk to Paddington Station, putting all of London at your disposal. Or, stay in the area and explore Hyde Park (a ten-minute walk) and the global eateries and bars that fill the streets around Paddington. Back at the home, a big living room has more than enough room for the group across two sofas and armchairs, perfect to unwind after a day in the city. The full kitchen is separate and has everything you need to knock up a family meal – served at the long dining table. Traditional features like fireplaces in the bedrooms, gilded mirrors and bay windows keep things classy. We particularly love the little outdoor space, set up with a picnic-style table for four and perfect for an evening glass of wine.

Overlooking a lush garden square in the heart of Bayswater, this two-storey apartment has high ceilings and space to sit outside with a cup of tea. While you won't find a TV here, a projector is on offer for a home cinema experience like no other. This, along with being pet-friendly and the range of free baby equipment available, makes it a great spot for families. While the only parking here is paid, you'll find several underground lines nearby, and the green expanse of Kensington Gardens is just a short walk away.

Just steps away from Hyde Park, this home is ideal for a large group looking to explore London’s best attractions. Spend mornings wandering through the leafy park, perhaps with a picnic lunch in tow. With convenient public transit, you can be shopping on Oxford Street in just nine minutes, at the British Museum in seventeen and at Buckingham Palace in just twenty minutes. Of course, a nice stroll cutting through the park will get you to all these places and more in not too much longer. The home itself feels welcoming, with a warm wooden kitchen and plush leather sofas organized around a marble fireplace. There’s a large patio table, ideal for enjoying dinner or gin and tonics on nicer days. Plus, there’s a lot of bedrooms in this home for friends and family – and while common area space may run short, the dining table can squeeze in twelve. With this central of a location though, you’ll likely be out exploring most of the time – why not come home to somewhere bright, private, quietly luxurious and wonderfully comfortable.

From the cosy lounge to the adorable Paddington Bear-themed bedroom, this mews flat has family-living written all over it. Although the design is a little more homely, we appreciated the warm, lived-in feeling. Kick off your shoes and make yourself right at home, rustling up meals in the kitchen (which is well-stocked with cookware), snuggling up with a book on the sofa and retreating to the bedrooms for an afternoon snooze. Everything you'll need for a relaxing getaway is taken care of – Netflix streaming on the smart TV, Sonos speakers in the living area and high-end toiletries in the bathrooms. Best of all is the location. Tucked away on a pretty street just a few minutes walk from Paddington Station, this area is excellent for exploring. Start the day with a stroll through Hyde Park (ten minutes on foot), wander along the canal in Little Venice (a twelve-minute walk away) or hop on the tube and journey around the city. Finish the evening off with a pint and delicious meal at one of the pubs nearby – there's at least three within walking distance, so you'll have more than enough choice.

Housed on the upper floor of a historic London pub dating back to 1852, this characterful apartment offers a comfortable, relaxing base from which to explore the city.

You’ll immediately be transported back in time through the home’s original features, like the parquet floors, corniced ceilings and sash windows that bathe the whole space in light. We love the plump armchair that invites evenings over glasses of wine and the cosy dining nook that’s all set for intimate meals and sunny breakfasts alike. The bedroom is just as elegant with its ornamental fireplace and beautifully dressed king-size bed, while the bathroom beckons long, luxurious soaks under its rainfall shower. 

When you’re not soaking up the period atmosphere of your chic pad, go out and explore the nearby sights. You’re just a ten-minute walk from leafy Hyde Park, a fifteen-minute stroll from Little Venice and its waterside cafés and colourful Notting Hill is twenty minutes away on foot.

With Paddington Station a couple of streets away and the green expanse of Hyde Park a five-minute walk, this pristine apartment enjoys the best of central London. The surrounding streets are packed with global eateries and local pubs, and the Tube can whisk you into central London in around ten minutes. Pebble-grey and muted inside, this apartment is an oasis in the city. There’s plush dining for eight people, and enough room for the whole group to spread out in the living room. Each bedroom has bags of space – a rarity this close to the centre of London. But we love the orchids and white roses that add a touch of class to the luxe rooms.

Wake up to the chatter of ducks and watch majestic swans glide serenely by your window from your picturesque vantage point moored on Brownings Pool – named for the famous 19th-century poet Robert Browning, who lived nearby.

Despite this unique connection to nature, you're right in the heart of the city, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Paddington, the glamourous townhouses of Notting Hill, and the leafy residential area of St John’s Wood – all steps away from your bow.

Your host is a set designer with an eye for aesthetics. In fact, her other boat even made it into a published book of the world’s best houseboats. In addition to its chic styling, this wide-beam barge comes equipped with everything you would expect of a modern home, with a couple of quirks to consider to ensure everything remains shipshape throughout your stay. However, in our opinion, these only add to the thrill. Think luxurious shepherd's hut in the centre of the city.

On sunny days, make the most of your privileged position and relax on the rooftop deck with a drink in hand, the envious glances of passers-by flowing like water off a duck's back. Alternatively, strike out along the towpath and explore everything this canalside stretch has to offer.
