This is a classic, shabby chic Notting Hill flat. The huge bay window and sense of space in the living room make it feel incredibly relaxing and calm. It's not stuffed full of hi-tech entertainment and isn't super luxurious, but if you want a peaceful haven this is a proper gem. Perhaps the biggest highlight is the outdoor patio and gate leading onto the communal garden. Literally, nothing could be more classical Notting Hill.

Down a cutesy little mews street, this family-sized home puts you within easy walking distance of Hyde Park and the boutiques and restaurants of stylish Kensington. Despite its central location, the atmosphere is quiet. The kitchen has everything you need for self-catering, plus some extra touches like spices and sauces and a huge, squashy sofa in the living room invites you to relax. The bedroom with two sets of bunk beds (four bunks) may feel a little squished, but it’s got a kids’ sleepover vibe for little ones. The bonus is a wrap-around (unfurnished) balcony looking out over the pretty mews street below.

If you’re travelling as a six, two people will sleep on the sofa bed in the living room, but it’s a comfortable open space. Location-wise, there’s so much on your doorstep. Check out the chic boutiques and trendy eateries, or take a short stroll to Portobello Road Market. Fancy some green space? Hyde Park is a stone’s throw away – just the ticket for a leisurely walk, jog, or picnic.

Stretch your legs and stroll to the Natural History Museum or head into Chelsea for fine dining and world-class shopping.

Nestled in leafy South Kensington, this fifth-floor apartment couldn't be better located. Museums, coffee shops, and gourmet restaurants are just a short walk away, as is Gloucester Road Underground, giving easy access to the rest of the city. The decor is a tad minimalist, but you'll have everything you need for a comfortable stay – a bright living area, a well-appointed kitchen, and a cosy bedroom with an en-suite soaker tub. Despite having a lift in the building, you'll still need to climb a few stairs. Children may also be welcome upon request, but we think it's best for a couple's getaway.

With its all-white interior design and tranquil views of Inverness Terrace, White Doves is a peaceful home. A beautiful Bayswater sanctuary (just steps away from Hyde Park), it’s one of those places that you look forward to coming home to at the end of a long day of sightseeing. We can’t get over all the period features – the picture-perfect crown moulding and the charming windows being our favourite parts. On top of that, Jane is also a wonderful host, who’s put a lot of care into designing a seamless space filled with a welcoming atmosphere.

Blending vintage charm and contemporary style, the art on the walls and double-height ceilings exude comfort. There's space to sit out on the cosy terrace with a drink or a light lunch, and you're never far from something to do when the mood strikes. Notting Hill is just minutes away on foot, along with several stations for hopping on the Underground and exploring London's best bits.

Plus, the accessible transport links mean all of London's right on your doorstep.

It’s one of a collection of beautifully finished apartments in a building designed by award-winning architects. The apartment is sophisticated but relaxed – modern elements like stainless steel and glass combine with Persian rugs and a tweed-covered sofa. There’s a petite kitchenette to cook in, but you’ll also have plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from nearby – this home is based in the heart of Marylebone, after all. Oxford Street is just a ten-minute walk away in one direction, and Regent’s Park in the other.

London is a city that isn't short of an art gallery or two and this apartment takes influence from some of these cultural institutions. Illuminated by natural light from the huge window at the far side of the living room, the white walls are covered with a huge range of colourful works and there are curios dotted about here and there, too.

In addition to this eye-catching decoration, the design is definitely contemporary in flavour, particularly the chic white leather sofa, transparent dining chairs and a minimalist kitchen heavy on the sleek surfaces. The mezzanine level adds another layer to this home — both figuratively and literally — and offers an office, as well as another cosy lounge.

Although the street on which this home resides is certainly residential, there's plenty to see and do nearby. The corner of the huge Kensington Gardens can be reached in only eight minutes on foot, while the vintage boutiques and cute brunch spots of Portobello Road take around five.

From here, the Tube can whisk you out west to explore stunning Kew Gardens or transport you to London's trendy East End in a little over half an hour.
