Staying in this apartment puts you right in the heart of this district, amid its restaurants, cafes, shops, and museums. You’ll be close to green spaces including Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, and can walk to the King’s Road in fifteen minutes. The apartment is on the first floor of a Grade II listed building next door to a filming spot for ‘A Fish Called Wanda’. The highlight of this home is the private terrace, which overlooks communal gardens – in warm weather, open the French doors and expand the living space. The single bedroom is accessible via a ladder, which won’t be suitable for everyone.

We love the antique furniture – a clawfoot desk here, a fauteuil armchair there – but the smart kitchen, stylish bathroom and mod-cons like a rainfall shower, espresso machine and Netflix bring things in the 21st-century. We think it's the best of both worlds, and the location is even better.

Ritzy and charming, Mayfair is home to leafy squares, cobbled lanes lined with cafes and some of the oldest shops in London.
