Surrounded by a working farm, you'll feel transported to another world as you step into this beautifully detailed home. Sink into the comfort of the leather furniture as you warm yourself by the roaring fire after a refreshing walk in the countryside. Later, gather around the large wooden dining table for a home-cooked meal and take in the breathtaking views of the Howardian hills.

If you like walking with purpose, head out to the nearby village of Ebberston and savour a pint of local ale at the pub. If you fancy a drive, explore the fascinating ruins of castles and abbeys, marvel at steam trains, and bask in the beauty of the sandy beaches as you traverse the picturesque North York Moors.

Farmhand

Set in one of the most beautiful parts of Yorkshire, this formerly derelict barn was chanced across by its owners in 2015, and lovingly converted into the stunning home it is today. The vibe is English country, with real moments of grandeur. With antlers on the walls, fine china ornaments, touches of tartan, and a solid teak dining table that wouldn’t look out of place in a stately home, it’s the kind of place you can imagine a hunting party coming back to after a day out on the moors. The grand feel continues in the bedrooms, each of which is as luxurious as the last but has its own unique design. We can see ourselves spending windswept days walking the hills of God’s Own Country before returning to pre-dinner drinks by the fire in the snug (the original stone floor is particularly gorgeous). Once the kids are set up with a movie in the second living room, a candlelit meal around the dining table beckons, followed by a session in the wood-fired hot tub.    

Yorkshire Homestead

If the sun is shining, make haste to Scarborough Beach, reached in fifteen minutes by foot, for a dip in the North Sea and an ice cream on the promenade. Peruse the Scarborough Art Gallery, watch the boats to and fro from the harbour, and finish the afternoon with a platter of fish and chips in a revered restaurant in the heart of town.

A two-minute walk from the centre of town places you at your comfortable apartment. Kick off your shoes, flick on the kettle and feel right at home in the contemporary yellow and grey living space. Curl up on the sofa and add last-minute additions to tomorrow’s agenda or set the table for a light supper as the evening draws in. And when it’s time to rest your sleepy head, cosy bedrooms guarantee a deep, peaceful slumber.

If you're a cricket fan, set your sights on this studio penthouse. With exposed brick, sleek furniture, and a great location, this home is every bit as stylish as it is convenient. 

Wake up to the beautiful sight of Yorkshire's first-class cricket ground, with the rolling hills out in the distance. Scarborough is a great base for exploring Yorkshire, with Staithes, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Filey all within an hour's drive. But you certainly don't have to go that far for a taste of Yorkshire life. Scarborough is bursting with seaside charm and you're a ten-minute walk from the heart of the town, teeming with ice cream parlous, retro arcades, fish and chip shops, and of course, traditional pubs. 

When your feet can no longer carry you, your cosy bolthole awaits. Warm and welcoming, you'll feel right at home. Kick your feet up and stick the TV on before whipping something up in the well-equipped kitchen. Or, head out to one of the area's many restaurants – you're just a three-minute walk to the closest one.

Wander over to this apartment's huge bay window and look to your right — from here, it's possible to see the North Sea, which sits at the end of your street. As well as offering a nautical view while you eat your breakfast, this architectural feature means that the living space is gifted with bountiful amounts of natural light.

Given the elegant simplicity of the interior, this illumination is definitely a good thing. The combination of a muted grey colour palette and wood surfaces feels effortlessly modern, while there are a couple of stylish additions to stop it from feeling too anonymous — we like the hanging spider-esque light feature and glass lamps, for instance.

All of Scarborough's main attractions sit nearby, from the Italian Gardens six minutes' walk away to the town's beach which takes around double that time to reach. Further afield, the sprawling North Riding Forest Park takes just over ten minutes to get to in the car and offers plenty of awe-inspiring vantage points.
