With its own front door, it's on the ground floor and boasts high ceilings and tall sash windows. But the most striking thing about this luxurious home has to be the curated art (much of it picked up during the host's travels in Asia and North Africa), collections of books and the vast array of house plants. There's a contemporary kitchen and a designer dining table to eat, drink and be merry together, as well as two comfy bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Just a few minutes walk from the High Street, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to bars, restaurants and pubs nearby, and by day you can explore the town's pretty Regency streets, award-winning parks and independent shopping scene.

While this building was once a barn, it has since been converted into a thoroughly modern home with a long list of luxurious additions to make your stay truly unforgettable.

Aside from the wooden ceiling beams, you would hardly be able to work out this home's former life if you didn't already know. The colour palette leans heavily upon sleek muted greys, all illuminated by subtle spotlighting, while the kitchen has bountiful amounts of surface space for whipping up country feasts.

Out through the back door, there's a private garden with seating so you can enjoy bursts of sunshine, as well as a hot tub that's ideal whatever the weather. At the end of this space is a garage that has also been converted and packed full of gym equipment.

The home sits on the Fosse Way — a 230-mile Roman Road — and there are plenty of walking routes that go through the Warwickshire countryside which start nearby. The Regency architecture of Royal Leamington Spa takes just over five minutes to reach in the car, while the Bard's birthplace, Stratford-Upon-Avon, is a twenty-five-minute drive.

If you’re arriving by car, there’s private parking for one car here, but we’d say don’t pack heavy bags, as there’s no lift and the apartment is on the second and third floors. This modern and spotless home with both bedrooms en-suite, is up in the eaves too, so there may be some limited head height if you’re on the taller side.

This beautifully renovated barn is situated in a stunning, secluded position on the edge of Long Itchington village in Warwickshire. Guests can enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounding farmland from all aspects of the property. The village's pond and green are within walking distance, where visitors can find a pub for local beer and good food. The barn sleeps eight guests (maximum six adults) and features four bedrooms, including one en-suite bathroom, two en-suite shower rooms, and one family shower room. A walled, gravelled courtyard with a slate patio and lawned areas offers a relaxing outdoor space for guests to unwind. Families with children are welcome, with a travel cot, high chair, and stairgate available upon request. Parking for up to four vehicles is available, and there is WiFi throughout the property. A minimum three-night stay is required.

Nestled in Royal Leamington Spa, this charming retreat provides accommodation for a short or extended stay. Sightseeing is easy, with Warwick Castle a six-kilometre drive away and the birthplace of Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon, fifteen kilometres away. Or, you might just want to stick to the Regency townhouses and sprawling gardens of Leamington Spa itself. The apartment is in a quiet, residential area a short walk from the centre. Designed as a holiday home, there aren’t many homely touches, but if you like sleek comfort and all the essentials – tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets – waiting for you on arrival, you can’t go wrong here.

Tucked along a country lane in Warwickshire, this barn conversion faultlessly marries old-world charm with contemporary living. One step through the front door and you'll be swooning over the vaulted ceilings, wooden beams and the open-plan living space just perfect for socialising – not to mention that the crisp Scandinavian-inspired stylings will have you feeling right at home and utterly relaxed in no time at all. 

From the crackling wood-burner to the plush, vibrant throw pillows, there's plenty of personality here to go around. Shelves are filled with books and board games, the kitchen has all the culinary gear you'll need to rustle up scrumptious suppers and the equally stylish bedrooms all boast en-suites so you'll never have to queue. On summer days, while away your afternoons in the pretty garden – the sun-dappled patio calls for alfresco breakfasts and evening cocktails, while the grassy patch is where both little ones and four-legged family members can play until the sun goes down. You can also use the owner's tennis court with prior arrangement if you're feeling active. 

Location-wise, you're nestled between literary Stratford-upon-Avon (twenty minutes by car) and characterful Henley-in-Arden (driveable in ten). Two village pubs are within a thirty-minute walk if you want to stretch your legs, and there are plenty of local eateries just a short drive away. Whether you're after Cotswolds charm or Warwick's historic castle and church, you'll be well-placed for exploring.

It was game, set and match when we saw this elegant 16th Century grange situated on a quiet lane in the heart of Shakespeare country. Play a spot of tennis on the private courts surrounded by beautiful countryside, have a wander around the formal gardens or picnic on the sweeping lawns. Later, read a book in the hanging tree pod or spot the wildlife around the natural swimming lake. There are lovely sunny patios for alfresco dining, too.

If you want a quiet spot, read the newspapers in the garden room with its botanical print wallpaper, purple sofas and chaise longue. South and west-facing windows create a bright and cheerful space. One of our favourite rooms has to be the orangery with its four sets of double doors, glass lantern roof, swan neck chandelier and long refectory style table primed for convivial, lazy brunches.

There's so much house here – we haven't even mentioned the elegant bedrooms – there are canopied beds, four posters, antiques and designer wallpaper aplenty.

This home is surrounded by some wonderful walks. Ancient Hay Wood is under 7 miles away or culture lovers can head to Stratford-upon-Avon for a performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Food lovers, on the other hand, are catered for in Henley-on-Arden, where there are some charming restaurants to discover. Or just relax in the local pub –  there are two friendly ones within a thirty-minute stroll.

Though this place has plenty of period charm, the modern upgrades are what steal the show – think underfloor heating in the kitchen, an electric fireplace with mood lighting and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that lead straight into the suntrap of a garden. Perfect for afternoon barbecues and alfresco evening cocktails, the garden's south-facing outlook means you'll always have the light. Inside, the glossy kitchen is sure to excite home chefs. Rustle up a mouthwatering meal to share around the dining table, followed by a family board game or two. End the evening in the lounge, listening to music on the Bluetooth speaker or playing on the Xbox while the fire crackles. To make your stay even more special, your host can help you arrange extras like at-home massages, cooking classes and cider tastings. This town is famous for being the birthplace of the Bard, and The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, The Shakespeare Museum and the namesake river are all reachable on foot. This medieval house is one of the oldest in Stratford-upon-Avon, but the way the host has decorated it marries the new interiors perfectly with the original structure. The slanted walls, wooden panels, and beautiful tiles wouldn’t seem out of place in a Lewis Carroll novel, which for a house with as much history as this, feels pretty apt. It doesn't surprise us that the unique home was chosen as a filming spot for the BBC One show Shakespeare & Hathaway.

We can't decide on a favourite feature – torn between the beam-ceilinged bedrooms, the boutique-style bathrooms, the wall painting from the 1600s, and the location in the very middle of this historic town. The high street, with its Shakespeare museums and old-timely pubs, is just a five-minute walk away. There’s still plenty else for you to discover yourself, as in a house like this there's no shortage of nooks and crannies.

This cottage in Stratford-upon-Avon is a hidden gem that combines modern and traditional styles to create a cozy and comfortable space. With three bedrooms, a stunning family bathroom, and two WC rooms, this cottage is well-equipped for your stay. The living room has a wood burner, and the spacious kitchen is perfect for preparing meals and enjoying them with family and friends. Glass doors open out to the patio and lawned garden where you can enjoy meals at the wooden table and chairs. Upstairs are three stylish bedrooms, two doubles and a single, to suit a number of different groups. A short walk takes you into the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon where you can enjoy shows at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre or venture further afield into the Cotswolds.

Enjoy a romantic stay at this handsome barn conversion, lying at the end of a track, on a family-run arable farm, surrounded by fields – this is a sublime retreat. Relax with a glass of bubbly in the private hot tub with its idyllic views through the farm to the fields beyond (your lovely hosts provide bathrobes and slippers), then savour a barbecue lunch in the sun. It's also the perfect spot to do a bit of stargazing when the night skies are clear and full of sparkling diamonds. Beautiful bi-fold doors provide plenty of light inside this single-level barn, which was once a grain store. We love the gorgeous stone floor and exposed wooden roof beams framing the high ceiling. A fresh colour scheme of pale cream, yellows and greys complement the rustic yet stylish design. If you can tear yourself away from this love nest, there's plenty to explore. Go for a walk to the historic riverside village of Bidford-on-Avon, sixteen minutes on foot, where you'll find an array of charming pubs, restaurants, shops, and a picturesque church built in 1250. Or visit Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, around a twenty-five-minute drive, while stunning Warwick Castle is a few minutes more in the car. The magnificent Cotswolds are on your doorstep too – Hidcote Manor Garden, near Chipping Campden, just over a fifteen-minute ride, which has one of Britain's most influential Arts and Crafts gardens.

This is a stunning home in the beautiful village of Little Compton, near Moreton-in-Marsh. The property is situated in the heart of the Cotswolds and offers easy access to all the area has to offer. The cottage sleeps up to 6 guests and has three bedrooms, a spacious living room and a well-equipped kitchen. The property also has a private garden and a patio, where you can relax and enjoy the stunning views.

After many years unoccupied, this former barn was treated to a complete revamp in the late 2010s. Today, a remarkable home awaits guests visiting rural Oxfordshire. Huge glass walls and stark white walls mean that the space feels immediately bright and inviting, while there's a superb mix of modern touches and more homely furnishings — bold pieces of artwork and the sleek grey kitchen sit quite happily alongside deep red rugs and picnic baskets repurposed as coffee tables.

Out through the glass doors, there's a charming walled garden complete with a lawn, patio and neat plant beds. Bat boxes and an owl loft have also been incorporated into the property to help the local wildlife. If you fancy a little more nature-spotting, there are plenty of walking routes throughout the surrounding Blenheim Estate. The city of Oxford takes around twenty-five minutes to reach in the car, too.

This beautiful, snug coach house is nestled in the grounds of a Georgian Manor House, tucked away in its private lush gardens with a duck pond overlooking the National Trust Tithe Barn. Dive into Worcester's legendary past, which is just under a half-hour journey away – visit Worcester Cathedral, considered one of England's most interesting cathedrals, especially architecturally. Before leaving, admire the River Severn. The Cotswolds are a must-see – if you enjoy hiking, take The Cotswold Way, a famous walk that boasts over 100 miles of scenic strolls and panoramic views of the countryside.

With some parts believed to date back to the 12th century and a Grade II listing, it's not an exaggeration to say this home has some history behind it. We love the period features, such as the decorative stone fireplaces and wood panelling, and how they contrast with modern amenities like the sauna, karaoke machine and sleek kitchen. The bedrooms, although lacking some of the communal areas' charm, offer plenty of space – ideal for those who don't travel light. When you want to explore, you'll find the Ouse Valley Park directly behind the home, while the quaint village of Wolverton is at your doorstep.

Living on the grounds of a 16th century country-house in the lush green Cotswolds (the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) already creates the ideal setting for nature lovers. Once you settle in with biscuits, fresh scones and fruits on arrival (among other goodies) and befriend the curious chickens, embark on a walk through the rolling Cotswold hills and valleys. While Netflix and cocoa are perfect for rainy days in, there is a whole world out there on sunnier days. The Cotswold Way is a trail that we’d definitely recommend, with plenty of historic pubs along the way, each serving their own collection of local ales. The home is located in Painswick, a village known as The Queen of the Cotswolds and characterised by beautiful narrow streets of honey coloured stone buildings dating back to the fifteenth century. Legend has it that the Devil won’t let a hundredth tree grow. There are all sorts of cafes and restaurants in and around the village, so make sure you ask the host, Hannah, for some recommendations.
