Set in the village of Laverton, this home promises a relaxing rural retreat. Ideal for a family, there’s plenty of space here with a charming garden and room to spread out across three floors, with whoever bags the bedroom stretching across the entire top floor able to enjoy the sweeping vistas. Sure, you have to climb a fairly steep staircase to reach the room and you’ll need to watch your head on the sloping ceilings, but we think it’s worth it for the sunsets over Bredon Hill alone.

Plenty of boutiques, cafés and restaurants are within a two-minute walk from the front door. The home itself is an elegant, light-filled space. Tradition meets contemporary living here, with comfy squashy sofas and exposed wood beams. The crowning jewel is the beautiful courtyard and its pergola draped with wisteria. Spend summer evenings cooking dinner on the charcoal barbeque, or enjoy fresh winter mornings with a hot cup of coffee – this home really is the ultimate seasonal escape.

This charming converted Cotswold stone barn is situated at the end of a quarter-mile-long hard-surface drive, surrounded by 50 acres of grounds including a private wood and stream. The two-bedroom property features exposed beams and flagstone floors, with french doors that lead out to a large, private gravel patio and gardens with unhindered views. Set on a hillside one mile above Broadway, the picturesque town boasts honey-colored limestone buildings and is referred to as the "show village of England." From the doorstep, guests can enjoy fantastic walks along the 100-mile Cotswold Way or wander through the lavender field at Snowshill. The property is also close to various attractions such as Sezincote House & Gardens and Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre. Sorry, no pets are allowed but children and infants are welcome and a travel cot and high chair can be provided on request.

The garden is a delightful extra room in the summer for relaxing, dining, playing or making the most of the sunshine. The property is within walking distance of fabulous shopping, dining out, superb children's play park and The Cotswold Way. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge). Please restrict your dogs to the ground floor and do not go on the furniture. Three fixed, retractable stair gates are provided. Off-street parking for two cars is available with garage parking suitable for medium car and one further parking space. Foodies will be spoilt for choice with everything from afternoon tea at the famous Lygon Arms; to fine dining at Russells and everything in between.

With plenty of walks on your doorstep, the beautiful countryside can be easily explored on foot. After a long day hiking, the patio keeps outdoor living comfortable, while the log burner ensures things stay cosy during colder months. This is a typical cottage – spread over three floors, with low ceilings and beams, so may not be the best option for those who may struggle with stairs. Just a fifteen-minute drive from Moreton Marsh train station, which has good transport links to London and Oxford – so you can have the best of both worlds.

Based in the village of Stanton, you've got the Cotswolds on your doorstep here, ideal for intrepid explorers. At home, you'll find historic features alongside modern touches – we were particularly fond of the original inglenook fireplace and the kitchen's skylight. After a hike, you'll want to relax in the freestanding bathtub before enjoying a barbecue out in the garden. Alternatively, head to the nearby pub or cook up a roast in the well-equipped kitchen.

Built in the 18th century, it's hard to believe this pretty Cotswolds cottage was once the village police station. Now beautifully modernised, it's a great choice for a family gathering. With all the country walks you could dream of on your doorstep, it's also super convenient – just a five-minute walk from the village shop, cafe and pub in Blockley. Set over three floors and built of the same traditional stone you'll see across the road at the local church, it's a striking building with black-framed, arched windows. Inside, the period features continue with beamed ceilings, wood floors and some exposed stone walls. We especially love the log burning stove in the fireplace opening between the living room and dining room. Extended to the rear, there's a stunning kitchen with a huge roof lantern bringing light in. With a country feel but modern appliances and underfloor heating, it's the best of both worlds. Elsewhere, bedrooms are comfortable and effortlessly stylish. The top floor bedroom is our favourite, with its beautiful bed, sloping ceiling and luxury bathroom. On sunny days, heat up the barbecue and enjoy your meal on the terrace, or step into the table tennis room in the garden and play a few games while dinner cooks. Here you'll be just a twelve-minute drive from Stow-on-the-Wold.

With a terrace offering up a vista of the rolling north Cotswolds, it won't be a mystery why we added this home to our collection. Previously a home for silk mill workers, we loved how homely the space is – start a roaring fire in the inglenook fireplace (made with local stone, no less) and relax after a long hike or a short stroll through the local village. In the garden, the alfresco dining area is perfect for afternoon tea, while the sun loungers let you take in the view in-between naps. For dinner, you've got several pubs within a short walk here.

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the walking trails situated right on this home’s doorstep, including The Monarch’s Way long distance walking trail, or you may prefer a visit to nearby Stow-on-the-Wold for a stroll around the market square.

It may not be suitable for children due to the staircase design and historic fixtures throughout the home, but it offers a relaxing retreat for four guests. The mezzanine bedroom is impressive, if lacking a little in privacy, and offers a different perspective of the interiors of this historic building. And with hiking trails on its doorstep, you can be out soaking up the great outdoors in no time.

Deep-set window seats, a crackling wood-burning stove, original flagstone floors, traditional honey-coloured stone walls – this former farm worker's home has oodles of charm to go around. Wake up to far-reaching views over the countryside in the upstairs bedroom, then pad down to the kitchen for a cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast – the village shop down the road has plenty of fresh ingredients. On sunny days, take your fare into the rose-filled garden, watching as the world wakes up – if you're lucky, you may see a herd of deer or birds of prey in the neighbouring fields. Spend a chilled afternoon at home, working your way through the host's personal library, playing family board games or watching films on the DVD player in front of the fire. But if you're eager to get out and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, don your walking shoes for a ramble through the rolling landscape – there are a number of walking paths on your doorstep. This is your gateway to the best of the Cotswolds – Market Hall, The Spa at Cotswold House and Chipping Campden's bustling high street are all within walking distance. And when it's time to explore further afield, jump in the car and you can be in the chocolate-box villages of Bourton-on-the Water and Stow-on-the-Wold in fifteen minutes flat. 

Back at this cosy home away from home, exposed Cotswold stone walls, higgledy-piggledy beams and a crackling wood-burning stove bring all the charm. While we liked the comfortable bedrooms and sparkling bathrooms, what really blew us away was the impressive kitchen and dining area. It's the true hub of the home, with plenty of room to cook and dine together. We can easily imagine mornings here, the French doors open wide as you sip coffee on the patio and tuck into a lazy breakfast around the dining table. We also loved the techy extras, like nest heating, electronic locks and Google Home Bluetooth speakers. With the occasional bleat from the neighbouring sheep your only distraction, it doesn't get much more charming than this.

A true recipient of the Plum Award, this home has also received the Green Tourism Silver Award, in recognition of this host's dedication to green initiatives such as energy and water efficiency and mindful waste reduction.
