With a stunning garden and vibrant interior, this cosy home is a great choice for those looking for a fun, relaxing getaway in Wales. Located just half a mile from the historic market town of Tregaron, you're well situated to explore the quaint villages, cliffs, beaches, and more of Cardigan Bay.

Large windows invite a lovely natural light to brighten this home beautifully. It's a cheerful place where future happy memories will come easily, whether you're chatting around the dining table with a glass of wine or watching a film with the fireplace warming you up. The kids will love it too – they have their own snug hideaway for playing games and reading books when the grown-ups are catching up.

We love the interior's vibrancy, but our favourite bit of this home is the impressive garden. The cute space has a Mediterranean feel, with a bistro table and salmon-pink walls. When you've returned home after a day of exploring the Cambrian Mountains and the coves of Cardigan Bay, you'll love hopping straight into the bubbling hot tub to soothe those muscles after a day on your feet. Surrounded by lush greenery and vast fields, it's pure bliss. Then, when it's time for dinner, will it be a fresh pizza from the log-fired pizza oven, grilled meats and vegetables from the barbecue, or both?

The village of Tresaith on the Ceredigion coastline is relatively humble, but you can find some truly spectacular homes here – this three-storey gem is among them.

It's definitely an address that has been constructed with the surrounding scenery in mind, with sea views to be admired from the balconies and out through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Even to the rear of the house that isn't so blessed with coastal vistas, there's a peaceful terrace surrounded by flower beds and it's more than possible to enjoy alfresco feasts in this space, thanks to the dining table, pizza oven and barbecue.

Should the weather ever be a little uninspiring, there's plenty to keep guests entertained inside. In the games room alone, you'll find tables for pool and table tennis, as well as a darts board and piano. Once you've exhausted these, the cinema room complete with leather seats and surround sound is the ideal place to watch a movie or some live sports. It's just as easy to escape to the Jacuzzi bathtub and treat yourself to an unrushed soak.

You'll eventually want to head to the seaside at some point and Tresaith Beach is less than ten minutes' away on foot. It's easy to arrange watersport activities here and – if you're lucky – spot dolphins. There's also a waterfall at the far end of the sand, as well.

Home chefs can let loose in the kitchen, rustling up freshly-baked cakes and mouthwatering Sunday roasts to share around the eight-seater table. There were plenty of reasons why this penthouse apartment made it into our collection, but let's start with the most obvious. When guests step out onto the ornate white balcony, they're greeted with stunning views over the Dyfi Estuary and Cardigan Bay, stretching all the way down the Ceredigion Coastline. As is often the case with coastal locations, there's just so much sky and this uninterrupted panorama brings the added benefit of meaning the interior is flooded with natural light through the windows and skylights. This is emphasised pleasingly by the stark white walls and it makes for a wonderfully bright space to sprawl out on the tan leather sofa. As you can probably tell from looking out the window, Aberdyfi Beach sits just across the street and there are cafes and pubs along the seafront for when you fancy a refreshment. Slightly further afield, there are opportunities for birdwatching in RSPB Ynys-hir and Dyfi Osprey Project, both taking around half an hour to reach in the car.

Take a short drive to the seaside village of Aberdyfi, just three miles down the road, for a fun day of sea and surf, or perhaps wander around the beachside shops and restaurants in search of the finest local fish and chips. The apartment’s underfloor heating is a real treat after a busy day exploring – pack a few games and some great books, and relax on the sofa while taking in the rural vistas.

A welcome pack with coffee and tea, milk and sugar, butter, Welsh cakes and wine is also provided. This idyllic retreat is all on one floor making it ideal for those less mobile. No pets are allowed and smoking is prohibited.

Situated inside an original Regency harborside house, this first-floor apartment is a fantastic base from which to explore Aberaeron and the surrounding area. The harbor view has to be the main highlight of this property – there's also underfloor heating in the open-plan living room which is a real treat on cold days. The home would be best suited to a couple or small group of friends as there's not a lot of space to spread out in. While the local area can be explored on foot, we'd recommend a car for ease – the nearby towns of New Quay, Aberyswyth, and Cardigan are a short drive away and make for a memorable day trip.

Brick & Timber

A lot of things have changed since this cottage was built in the nineteenth century, but we're willing to bet that the surrounding view of the Upper Towy Valley and Cambrian Mountains is just as mesmerising as it was all those years ago.

Inside, a couple of period features also remain, like the mighty stone fireplace that acts as a natural focal point in the living space. However, there have been enough contemporary additions to ensure that the address well and truly belongs in the twenty-first century. You only have to look at the modern kitchen, the bedrooms painted in a soothing white and the subway-tiled shower to see what we mean.

Out through the front door, there's a small patio with seating so you can admire the gorgeous scenery and watch the neighbouring sheep – which sometimes come to graze right up to the home's windows. Come nighttime, stargazing is made all the more beautiful by the fact that the property sits in a designated Dark Sky area, free of light pollution. 

This part of South Wales is an excellent location for walkers and cyclists, as the Brecon Beacons National Park can be reached in around twenty minutes' drive, going through the town of Llandovery in the process.
