Unfortunately, there isn't enough sofa space for everyone in the living room, but the home's excellent location means you'll have plenty of excuses to head out – you'll find a myriad of parks, museums and restaurants just a short stroll away.

While space is limited and the kitchenette is best suited to light bites due to its lack of oven, the home’s location puts you within easy reach of plenty of must-sees, including the Church of the Holy Apostles, Aristotelous Square and the Roman Forum of Thessaloniki. Daskalos

You'll find this apartment in the heart of Thessaloniki. Restaurants on your doorstep, landmarks within walking distance, the sea only a short stroll away – how's that for a top-notch location? The apartment itself isn't bad, either. We like the jungle themed-design, and although some rooms are a little dated (namely the bathroom), there's a decent amount of space here for families and friends. But our favourite is the small balcony overlooking the street – it's the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee or glass of wine in the salt-tinged air.

Grecian Jungle

A stone's throw from the sea, this villa has an independent apartment on the ground floor and step access to the rest of the home. Part of a complex of maisonettes, you won't have perfect privacy and you may hear some noise from neighbours during your stay. But there are plenty of spots to relax both indoors and out with the private pool and space for alfresco dining. While you'll be right by the sea, you'll have to drive a short way up the road to the nearest sandy beach, which is the gorgeous Nea Skioni beach.

If rolling out of bed and onto the beach is your idea of heaven, look no further than this charming home in Sithonia, Halkidiki's central peninsula. Not only does this soul-soothing home boast a dreamy location on the beach, but it also happens to be a sustainability champion, being powered by solar energy.

You'll find this home in the small coastal village of Vourvourou. Boasting an enchanting gulf of white-sand beaches and a laid-back atmosphere, Vourvourou is popular amongst nature lovers and families. Spend your days paddling in the shallow turquoise waters, or enjoy invigorating hikes and mountain bike rides in the wooded mountains for crisp air and natural springs. Perched on the cliffs overlooking the sea, the private terrace is ideal for soaking up the sunshine and scenery. It's part of a resort, so you'll also have access to a communal swimming pool (open seasonally) and the small bay at the base of the (very steep) hill. The interiors are a little lacklustre and veer towards dated, but the location speaks for itself. Your host is also happy to arrange excursions, boat trips and other fun-filled activities for a fee.

With views of the impossibly blue Aegean Sea, a shimmering pool, hot tub and a sun-trap terrace for all-day dining, this laidback villa is the ideal gathering place for friends and families. 

Begin mornings with a cup of coffee on your bedroom’s private balcony before knocking up a tasty breakfast in the vibrant kitchen – the pops of cherry red will certainly put a spring in your step. Slip outside to while away the hours with a good book on a comfy lounger. And when you’re ready to turn the relaxation up a notch, you’ve access to the resort’s spa and indoor saltwater pool. 

At lunchtime, come together for a sizzling barbecue feast, or head into Chaniotis to sample local cuisine in traditional tavernas. Stroll along the Blue Flag sands of Hanioti Beach and find a quiet spot to watch the waves gently lap the shore.

Within a two-kilometre radius, you'll find Aristotelous Square, the White Tower of Thessaloniki, and Ladadika, making the home a great base to explore the city.

Separated into two distinct maisonettes, this villa in Metamorfosi is ideal for multigenerational families or groups looking for a bit more autonomy. Laid out over three floors and boasting multiple terraces and a private lawn, there’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy the sweeping sea views. While the decor inside isn’t half as impressive as the blue vistas outside, you’ll find, nonetheless, plenty of comfort in its contemporary style and outdoor living amenities. What’s more, Metamorfosi Beach is just across the street (20 metres away), while Metamorfosi’s many shops, supermarkets and beach bars can easily be reached on foot, 300 metres from home.

Live like a Greek god in this beautiful home, located in a prestigious resort in Pefkochori. Not only is there plenty of space and style, but it also has some serious green credentials – the villa is powered by solar panels. 

The interior is simple yet chic, and makes use of natural, locally sourced materials. Step onto the balcony, and you'll find that the calming ambiance continues – it's the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee. On the ground floor, you can make a splash in the swimming pool when the temperature rises, take a dip in the Jacuzzi, or soak up the sun on a lounger. And, when the evening rolls around, serve up a grilled feast from the barbeque to enjoy at the alfresco dining table. 

The water's edge is just 150m away from your front door, and Pefkochori Beach's blue flag makes it an excellent place to swim. The clear water means it's a good spot for snorkelling, and when you get hungry there are local tavernas lining the promenade. And, if you fancy exploring further afield, head inland to find hilltop churches, quaint Greek villages, and some excellent hiking trails.
