From the address, there's an uninterrupted panorama of the Ionian Sea, Nydri Gulf and the neighbouring island of Skorpios.

As you would hope, there are plenty of spots from which you can admire this wonderful landscape. If the weather's on the warmer side, you can take in the surroundings from the pair of swimming pools or out on one of the myriad terraces and balconies. When the sun's gone down, you can choose instead to sink back into the Jacuzzi or retire next to the fire pit for a little bit of added cosiness.

Although you'll want to spend as much time out in the open air as possible here, you won't be disappointed when you finally have to head inside. There are two wings to the property, plus a self-contained studio apartment, which means that there's an abundance of private space, even for larger groups. The design throughout is gloriously contemporary, with sleek surfaces, a minimalist approach to adornment and oodles of natural light from the large windows. Joy to Sea

Surrounded by olive groves and dense forest, the scent of pine and cedar lingers in the air at this deluxe villa. From the jutting hilltop terrace the view out over sparkling Dessimi Bay, flanked by verdant hills, is simply stunning. Enjoy it from the cool of the infinity pool, or on a lounger in the sun. Secret terraces and verandas are furnished with macrame hanging chairs, hammocks and sofas providing many a boho-luxe spot to enjoy a good book. The first-floor balcony is the perfect spot to take in the mountain and sea view, preferably with a cocktail in hand.

It feels as though the interiors have been designed with nature in mind. Driftwood sculptures, macrame cushions and wicker chairs and lampshades create a palette of raw wood and white. It all draws the eye to the view from floor to ceiling glass, which can be rolled back to blend the living room with the terrace. The kitchen is minimalist but feels luxurious in dove-grey with everything tucked away behind cupboards. While bedrooms benefit from glass doors onto patios and balconies.

This one’s for a beachy break with the closest sandy bay a five-minute walk away at Dessimi. And if you fancy dining out, the charming town of Nidri is just a ten-minute drive.

Keep things low-key at Spilia Beach with its seafront tavernas for lunch – just a four-minute stroll away. Or mosey into the sleepy hillside village of Spartochori (twenty minutes on foot) – its cobbled streets and authentic tavernas are an evening well spent.

Located on Lefkada – one of the most breathtaking Greek islands – this home can be found on the very east coast where the seaside town of Nidri is surrounded by natural beauty. Other than the views, you can also expect to find authentic tavernas and bustling coffee shops that you’ll certainly want to visit after you’ve popped into the souvenir shops. With some of the most stunning beaches no further than thirty minutes by car – some are far closer and reachable on foot – you can spend lazy days listening to the waves lapping the shore as you soak in the sun. That is if you even make it out the door, because this home is as much of a gem as the island it’s on. 

Cool and bright with a neutral colour palette, each of the bedrooms open up onto balconies, allowing you to constantly stay in touch with the spectacular views on offer here. Step out onto one of the balconies at dusk to enjoy your coffee with the sunrise. Spend days on the sunloungers or in the egg chair with your nose in a novel, or make use of the floating daybed as a unique reading spot. Take a dip in the infinity pool, enjoy a meze platter alfresco, and absorb the tranquillity as you take the time to unwind.

Though if you’re staying with little ones, they’ll need to be supervised at all times. You’ll need a car here if you plan on exploring, but fortunately, Lefkada Town is within easy driving distance, and you’re not far from Pefkoulia Beach.

It's a great location, close to the action but still tucked away for guests who want a bit more peace and quiet. The Ionian Sea views are pretty hard to be, too. Our favourite spot to admire them is the balcony, but the private pool also offers a glimpse of the scenery. The interior is contemporary, with stone walls and beamed ceilings to give it a bit of character. Upstairs, the snug mezzanine-level twin room is ideal for older children, but as the only two full bathrooms here are en-suites, guests in this bedroom will have to share.

Skylit Nights

Finding a hillside hideaway for two this picturesque and boasting a private infinity pool is a rare thing. The seascape views are a knockout by day, and wait until you clap your eyes on the sunsets. It’s worth noting this is open-plan, studio living, but there’s no compromise on space, inside or out. Location-wise, you’re close to the beautiful beaches of Gialo Skala (1.8km) and Pefkouli (3.7km) and within walking distance of shops and tavernas in the sleepy village of Tsoulakades for evening meals.
