Perched on a cliff above the Adriatic, you can relax and enjoy the panoramas from either the sunny terrace, private pool, or main bedroom's balcony. While the modest interiors aren't as show-stopping – the kitchen is rather tiny, truth be told – we still think it makes for a lovely getaway for families and friends. It's also in a great location. A two-minute stroll lies a pebbled beach (although you'll need to climb down the cliffside path to reach it) and Vrbnik's shops and restaurants are about 300 metres away.

Split across two equally charming, traditionally Croatian villas, this home has plenty of room for a big group to spread out. It feels as though there are endless options for lounging outside – on loungers beneath wooden pergolas, on plush outdoor sofas on patios and on deckchairs in the shade. There are also a handful of alfresco dining options; a cluster of comfy seats and coffee tables for a casual set-up, or for the whole group in the dedicated outdoor dining room, covered and with a built-in barbecue. The highlight of the outdoors has to be the swimming pool though, glittering and inviting you for a dip on a sunny day.

The main villa houses four of the bedrooms within its honey-brown walls. Here you’ll find an open-plan living area streaming with sunshine from floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors, and a table for group dinners inside. There’s a boho charm to woven lampshades and pops of green add a touch of holiday cheer. The second villa houses two of the bedrooms and has its own open-plan living space with a second kitchen and dining area in striking black and red.

You’re in the heart of the Istrian countryside here, where the hills are filled with hikes to secret waterfalls, rolling vineyards and the crumbling ruins of castles. Only a thirteen-minute walk away, the ruins, that can be dated back to the 1100s, still stand but are easily missed because of the thick surrounding forest, so be sure to keep a lookout. There's also a small beach in the opposite direction rumoured to be for nudists, so we'll leave you to do what you will with that information.
