Cultivate paradise at this gorgeous villa, with its vegetable garden, surrounding olive grove and citrus fruit orchard. Made up of four buildings – a main house and three cottages – there's more than enough space for large groups, whether you're exploring the gardens or splashing about in the pool. Two of the cottages are on a single level for guests with reduced mobility, and while the decor may be a little dated, it's certainly grandiose. The nearby town of Forio and its beach are both walkable – you might want a car to explore the rest of Ischia island, though.

Nestled within a lemon orchard, this stunning villa is practically hanging off the side of the Amalfi Coast. On the villa’s stepped terraces, the citrus scent of fresh lemons combines with sea salt as you enjoy uninterrupted views over the azure Tyrrhenian Sea. Walkways shaded by twisting grapevines, magenta bougainvillaea and wisteria bursting in purple clouds give way to panoramic views. You’ll find endless secluded spots for dining outdoors, or lounging in the sun. Inside, we were really taken by the hand-painted tiles in every room, bursting with blues, yellows and greens, and the hand-painted details like the decal in the shower, that feel distinctly Amalfi. Rather than facing the TV, the living room’s sofa points directly at the French windows and that incredible sea view and both main bedrooms have their own French windows for a view all to yourself. From the villa, it’s a short walk to the beach at the bottom of Maiori. Here, you can join the coastal walking path that links all the quintessentially Amalfi Coast villages. Or, head out in the car to the town of Amalfi, a fifteen-minute drive away.

You’re at the gateway to the stunning Amalfi Coast with a stay at this smart bolthole set in Sant'Agnello, a charming neighbourhood fringing Sorrento. Perched just two hundred metres from the lift leading down to the glorious sandy shores of Marinella Beach, a fifteen-minute walk from the centre of Sorrento, and with quick connections to legendary Pompeii and Capri, you couldn’t dream up a better location. And you could never go hungry here, with Nonna-esque pizzerias and traditional trattorias for the freshest seafood imaginable just fifty metres from your door.

Back home, those dazzling views of lofty palms and the distant sea first caught our eye at this apartment set in a handsome period building. Designed to make the most of the panoramas from all angles, the impressive balcony linking the living room and one of the bedrooms is the spot to drink up the vistas (preferably with a glass of chilled Campanian wine in hand). Completely overhauled in 2021, your hosts have paid close attention to every detail to create an island escape that speaks to the soul. However, it's the outdoor terrace that steals the limelight. Shared between the apartment's two suites, there's more than enough space for everyone to spread out and claim a corner for themselves. The views over the Amalfi Coast from this home’s infinity pool and whirlpool are incredible. There are a variety of terraces for relaxing and alfresco dining, while inside this place, dating from the 15th century, there’s a traditional feel with beams and handmade tiles. There's an open fire in the living room for cooler evenings and all of the bedrooms are en-suite (two also have a private terrace). Situated in the oldest part of Amalfi, it’s just a short walk down the steps to the centre of the town or you can take one of two public lifts.

Now, this is what we call a view. Perched above the Gulf of Salerno, this villa offers breathtaking scenery everywhere you look. Our favourite spot is the terrace, where a glass of wine complements the panoramas perfectly. There's also a private Jacuzzi that makes soaking under the stars a real treat. The interior design is simple but chic, though the main bedroom doesn't feel particularly private. And, while the kitchen is on the smaller side, you'll only be a five-minute walk from the eateries in Amalfi. That's pretty hard to beat.

Set in the town of Sant'Agnello, this sleek suite is an ideal crash pad for those who are always on the go. Inside, there’s a trendy white and grey colour scheme and a large window that floods the space with natural light. The kitchenette has just the basics – a fridge and hot drinks-making facilities – so leave your chef’s hat at home and sample the eateries within walking distance of your building. 

After a rejuvenating snooze in the king-size bed, curl up with a coffee on the sofa or work remotely at the dedicated desk. Sure, you’ll need to climb the spiral staircase to reach the rooftop terrace, but the vistas are worth it. Fancy a splash in the sea? There’s direct access here – just take the stairs down 200 metres. Ideal for extended families or a group of friends, the separate annexe also affords two guests a little extra privacy. Massa Lubrense is only two kilometres away when you fancy some Italian cuisine, and well worth a visit.

It’s a charming, chic base for a coastal escape, with pretty interiors – we especially love the colourful tiled floors. The open-plan living, dining and kitchen space is the heart of the home, though you’ll likely spend most of your time on the terrace – it’s a marvellous spot for soaking up the sun and admiring the views. Two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in bedroom three, so they’ll still have their privacy.

Deep blues, sunshiney yellows – how can you not think of the sea when you see these shades? Taking inspiration from Sorrento's nearby harbour and rocky beach, the design of this second-floor apartment is as bright and cheery as the surrounding neighbourhood. There's no doubt it's stylish, but it's also packed with modern amenities that make your stay a dream, from rainfall showers to a kitchen where you'll love rustling up Italian feasts. We adore the quirky touches here, too – our favourite is the stone wall in the shower, which uses the rocky facade of the mountain. 

Did we mention the two sun-kissed balconies? Both offer excellent spots to breathe in the coastal breezes and bask in Sorrento's good weather. Whether you're dining alfresco under the shady parasol or sharing a bottle of Italian wine on the outdoor sofas, this is the place to sit back, relax and fall in love with Sorrento.

Location-wise, you can't do much better. Beaches, eateries and shops are all just steps away. Take a stroll along the postcard-pretty marina in the mornings, followed by lunch at a waterfront restaurant. When it comes to relaxing at home, however, you’ll have lots of outdoor space to enjoy – we love the private pool, BBQ area complete with a pizza oven (perfect for alfresco dinners) and the balconies that offer views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Several of the rooms feature multiple beds, making this the ideal home for those travelling with little ones who need to sleep in the same room as their parents. 

The Ocean Melody

There's something rather magical about the view from this apartment nestled within a private park in Positano – ruggedly beautiful cliffsides peppered with dwellings part to reveal a burst of gloriously blue Tyrrhenian Sea and the uninterrupted skyline beyond. It makes for a charming backdrop while you soak up the sunshine or enjoy alfresco meals on the terrace.

Although the apartment itself lies on the smaller side of things, we're quite fond of the bright and contemporary design, particularly the sleek white galley kitchen and the fetching patterned tiling underfoot in the bedrooms. It's a home that's been owned by the same family for more than three decades, but you can certainly tell that it's received plenty of attention in recent years.

The local town of Positano itself isn't large, so most of the attractions are easily reachable on foot, including the golden sands of Spiaggia Grande Positano only 400 metres from the front door. In the wider area, those fond of a hike will appreciate the hilly terrain and walking routes found throughout the Amalfi Coast.

Simply Unforgettable

Gorgeous views of rolling hills and the Mediterranean? Count us in. The panorama can be enjoyed from the terrace (complete with an alfresco dining table and sun loungers) and the Jacuzzi, the ideal spot for a sunset cocktail. With a full house, two guests will be on the sofa bed, and the only bathroom is the ensuite. But for families or a couple, the apartment is the perfect Sorrentine base. When it's time to explore, you'll find the coastal towns of Massa Lubrense and Sorrento a short drive away. And when you want to stay closer to home, you'll find plenty of eateries within walking distance.

And though some parts inside are a tad dated, there's plenty of space for families and friends, even with a sofa bed for two.

Overlooking the vivid Gulf of Salerno, this gorgeous apartment is perched on the steep cliffside of Positano – a popular village resort sitting prettily on the Amalfi Coast. In every direction of your doorstep, you'll discover winding streets dotted with inviting cafes and boutiques, as well as the historic Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta. If you're feeling adventurous, why not lace up your hiking boots and trail along the Sentiero degli Dei?

The villa is modern and stylish, with heaps of space. You can spend time together as a group, but also slip away for a quiet moment here. The home gym means you needn’t miss out on workouts, and the elegant spa-like bathtub means you can relax just as easily. 

Best of all, the outside space is wonderful. The terrace has an outdoor kitchen and a barbecue with glorious views. If you’re anything like us, you’ll want to spend all your time out here. When you’re not cooking or dining, you can stretch out on a sofa and drink in the view as you top up your tan. Children will love the free-standing swimming pool, too. 

It takes around ten minutes to stroll to Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi, where you can shop and dine out. Slightly further afield but still within easy reach is Massa Lubrense, a pretty town known for its pastel-coloured houses perched on cliffs. Stroll around the harbour to admire the boats while tucking into gelato. Sorrento and all of its beauty and style are a twenty-minute drive away. There’s something for everyone here.
