This is a charming country house located on top of a hill surrounded by trees and fields. It's situated in a traffic-calmed area, 3 km from the centre of Collecorvino, offering a peaceful and quiet retreat. The house has a large shared garden with a barbecue for guests to enjoy. The upper ground floor features a large kitchen, 3 double bedrooms each with its own shower/bidet/WC, and an exit to the veranda with one french bed and two double beds. There's also a large terrace of 30 m2 with terrace furniture, balcony furniture, and 4 deck chairs providing guests with beautiful panoramic views of the valley. The property is conveniently located near several towns and cities such as Città S.Angelo and Pescara, which are only 10 km and 15 km away respectively. The sea is just a short distance of 10 km while skiing areas are approximately 40 km away. Please note that the owner lives in the same residence, has a dog, and does not accept any youth groups.

Dating back to the early 1900s, you can see the turn-of-the-century architecture in the stone steps between terraces and wooden-shuttered windows. It’s a veritable playground for those that seek relaxation in the terraced gardens, where succulents fill the perfectly positioned flower beds. Spend days floating in the sleek, modern swimming pool with its integrated Jacuzzi. Lunch can be taken at the round table on the lower terrace, while dinner can be set up on the upper terrace at the more formal spot. Sun loungers are shaded by parasols and there are two hanging egg chairs for reading in the sun. From here, you can catch a glimpse of the sea with the Pontine islands floating in the deep blue.

Inside, it’s an ode to grandeur as rooms are filled with gallery-worthy sculptures and striking paintings. Art deco chandeliers in the luxe living room hark back to the villa’s origins and you can take in that sea view from the comfort of plush sofas. Parquet flooring intersects with the original salvaged mosaic. We love the light-filled kitchen with its green splashes of trailing botanica. Or, perhaps, the original vaulted ceiling in the basement bedroom with its baby grand piano in the corner.

This rustic Italian retreat looks out over a peaceful Umbrian valley, yet it’s only a short walk into the historic centre of Amelia for the local cheese shop, bars, bakeries and grocery shops. Covered outdoor lounges beneath rose-dappled pergolas and a summer kitchen embrace the bucolic life, while the modern swimming pool keeps things in the 21st century. The rustic decadence continues upstairs in the two comfortable bedrooms, with the canopied bed in the master bedroom promising a sumptuous night’s sleep. Thanks to the home’s position on a slope, both floors have direct access to the lush, green grounds. With a whopping 1,500 square metres of gardens to enjoy, including a swimming pool, there’s no end to the outdoor relaxation on offer. After a decadent day of luxuriating in the pool and exploring the surrounding nature, fire up the barbecue to enjoy an alfresco meal under the pergola while you watch the sunset from your hill-view haven.

Take the 10-minute drive to Todi to wander the cobbled streets and explore local restaurants – you might recognise some of the plazas from Italian movies. Perched on its own hilltop and just twenty minutes from Saturnia's famous thermal springs, this traditional farmhouse is the place for you if you're really trying to get away from it all. With nothing to bother you apart from the sounds of the local wildlife and the twinkling of the stars at night, it's a rural retreat for nature lovers, artists and musicians. Here the order of the day is country walks, reading in the shade, whipping up delicious meals each evening and just generally enjoying the good life. There's no need to rush anything here.

But if, after breakfast on the terrace, those views across the iconic hills have motivated you to explore, that's easily done too. Head to the surrounding villages to see their Etruscan and Roman ruins, explore Montemerano – a twenty-five-minute drive away – and don't miss the nearby thermal springs. A little isolated for some, it's a short drive to pick up supplies or eat out – but for others, this is the magic of this place.

La Casa nei Vigneti is a charming 18th-century farmhouse that has been renovated to its original architectural features with anti-seismic adaptation. The property consists of two structures, the main house and an annex, accommodating up to ten people. The house is set in an estate of about 50 hectares planted with vineyards and olive groves, located between the massifs of the Maiella and Gran Sasso and the Adriatic coast of the famous Trabocchi. The villa features a large open-plan area with vaulted ceilings, a cozy living area with fireplace, billiard room with sitting area, dining room connected to the kitchen with pantry, communicating with the pergola with wood oven. The property also includes a beautiful swimming pool in a panoramic position and a well-kept garden surrounding the house. Guests can enjoy outdoor lunches and dinners under the white wisteria-covered pergola or relax under the majestic oak while contemplating the beautiful hilly landscape. This glorious villa is ready to welcome you on an idyllic Italian lakeside break. Based just a short drive from the blue waters of Bolsena Lake, this 20th-century Italian farmhouse has been respectfully renovated to keep the original features that give this home its unique character – with exposed beams of chestnut wood, dramatic round vaults and beautiful terracotta floors. We love the contemporary, minimalist style that they’ve blended in with the retro feel, making the home feel absolutely charming.

We absolutely love the dining area, where you can feast on Italian suppers of soup and risotto all together. There are two large living areas, giving you plenty of room to stretch out and relax – one featuring a lovely fireplace where you can cosy up in colder months. There’s even a ping pong table where you can challenge your loved ones to a table tennis game or two. Outside, you’ll find huge, lush expanses of green parkland, as well as a private pool where you can take a refreshing dip.

That Old Chestnut

Arriving at this Umbrian villa, you wouldn’t think it was a new build – it’s got all the character and charm of an old, Italian farmhouse with brick-lined, arched windows and a terracotta roof. It’s built with local stone and embraces organic architecture. Blending in with its bucolic surroundings, it looks out over the Oasi di Alviano nature reserve – home to protected Umbrian flora and fauna. It’s a short drive to Terni to explore ancient ruins and local cuisine in family-run restaurants and a traditional medieval hilltop town awaits at Todi nearby.

The first thing that catches the eye is the inviting, Roman-style swimming pool that looks out over the fauna-filled valley and patchwork fields to hazy hills in the distance. A loggia-style dining area houses a table for the group and a barbecue grill, all with that stunning view before you. Steal away to the olive grove and curl up in a hammock with a holiday read.

Inside, antique and vintage pieces throughout add to the old farmhouse feel of the home, alongside wooden ceilings and terracotta tiled floors. A huge double-sided fireplace sits between the dining and living room for cosy evenings in. The view from the arched window in here is simply sublime – framed like a picture on the exposed stone wall. Up on a mezzanine level, you’ll find a secluded little reading nook to hide away in.

Out in the rolling hills of Umbria, this pretty stone villa embraces the quiet, provincial life. It’s surrounded by two hectares of forest, olive groves and fieldland and the private gardens are alive with lavender and fragrant Mediterranean herbs. Between the plant life, there are sunloungers on lawns, a children’s play park and plenty of shaded spots beneath trees to settle down with a good book. Perhaps the crowning glory of the gardens is the turquoise swimming pool, shimmering in the Umbrian sunshine. Though foodies may argue it’s the rustic summer kitchen with its brick-built grill, stone sink and prep area for long, lazy lunches in the loggia outside.

The home is split between the main villa and a separate annexe, and large groups will find myriad sitting rooms and lounges to spread out. Smoke-blackened hearths speak of the home’s history and sitting rooms beneath wooden ceilings are home to antique furniture and little libraries of holiday reads. There are two kitchens to choose from – one in the annexe and one in the main villa, and we love the annexe’s living room with its arched window looking out over the undulating Umbrian countryside.  

Should you wish to explore beyond the grounds, the pretty town of Todi is around three kilometres away. It’s picture-perfect, perched on a hilltop where rambling medieval streets house local trattoria and quaint little shops. This is where you can stock up on supplies at the supermarket too.

It’s all about peace and seclusion at this Umbrian villa. On all sides, you’ve got a patchwork of rolling fields and acres of olive groves. Should you wish to discover a bit of Umbria on a day trip, the beautiful city of Orvieto is a short drive away – a shamble of ancient, ochre buildings sitting on a hilltop. However, days here can easily be spent without leaving the grounds.

The saline swimming pool is an inviting shade of turquoise, sitting against the Umbrian hills and surrounded by greenery. Beneath ancient olive and oak trees, you’ll find wooden tables for rustic lunches outdoors – perhaps cooked in the little stone building that’s been converted into a barbecue shed with a wood-fired oven. 

Beyond this villa's stone and wood-shuttered facade, you’ll find an ode to Umbrian tradition. An arched fireplace in the main living room harks back to days gone by while the worn terracotta bricks underfoot keep things cool. If you can tear yourself away, it’s just ten minutes to Todi, full of mediaeval charm and authentic Italian eateries.

Set across two stone villas and surrounded by beautiful Umbrian countryside, this home is perfect for groups of family or friends looking for a rural retreat. Sitting within a medieval borgo (little village) whose heyday was the early 17th century, this villa complex embraces old-world Umbria. It’s pure peace and quiet out here between the endless olive groves (extra virgin olive oil is the region’s speciality) and rolling hills covered in a patchwork of fields. It’s five kilometres to Monte Castello di Vibio with its ancient theatre and fifteen kilometres to the pretty town of Todi for restaurants and supermarkets.

The yard, where wheat was once threshed by hand, is now home to a smattering of chairs and tables for tipples in the sunshine. The porticoed upper terrace is the perfect spot for breakfast, or big barbecue lunches, with views of the 22-hectare estate. But the crowning glory of the gardens has to be that Roman-style swimming pool with its panoramic view of the countryside.

Accommodation is split between three separate buildings set around the courtyard. Two annexes have their own kitchenettes, living rooms and dining area so the group can spread out. The main villa is home to myriad antique-filled lounges and living rooms, including a striking main lounge set around the ancient hearth. Low, wood-beamed ceilings and old agricultural tools on the walls give that rustic farmhouse feel. A little games room invites guests to sit down for a game of chess or to peruse the library of books in here. But the real bonus inside is the dedicated celebration room which is a vast, barn-like space which can be set up for dining, dancing or even a spot of yoga.

Located on the border of Tuscany and Umbria, it’s just a short drive to the village of Trevinano, with easy access to some of the region's most beautiful spots. The swimming pool can be heated, the garden is surrounded by olive trees and the terrace is perfectly positioned for idyllic sunset drinks.
