Nestled in the rolling hills of Marche, this home is the definition of rural charm. The 200-year-old farmhouse is now a charming, four-bedroom villa showcasing both modern amenities and traditional style. Admire the exposed wooden beams and fireplace in the living space, and take in the views from the master bedroom's private balcony – whoever takes this room is very lucky indeed. The garden is an attraction in its own right, with flourishing flowers and shaded dining areas where you can enjoy breakfast in the morning. If it's even possible, the gardens perhaps look more charming after the sun goes down, when the pool lights up and lamps cast the trees in a warm glow. Gather out here for a barbecue, and afterwards curl up in the historic living room for a nightcap. While this home's charm comes from its rural location, you're just a twenty-minute drive from Pesaro, a coastal city where you can visit palaces and take to the many cycling trails.

We can’t imagine a holiday more serene than a stay in a seaside villa. Gifted with rooftop views of a scenic landscape, a pool right by the water (you can see the masts of bright white yachts while swimming laps) and a furnished terrace where you can eat your favourite meals and unwind with a drink or two, it’s all about the outdoor living here. After tucking into dinner under the pergola, you’ll be eager to head up to the roof for a soothing soak in the Jacuzzi. There are lounges all over the house so you can snuggle up on the sofa and watch a classic on Netflix, sit outside in the breeze as you sip some red wine and escape to a cosy living room for some alone time with a good read. When you’re looking for some family fun in the sand, Portoverde Beach is just a fifteen-minute walk from home.

Strolling through the two acres of land surrounding this complex of three 18th-century villas, it’s easy to see why this place has hosted many a rustic Italian wedding. This home is in a medieval town in the Marche region, situated in the Conero Regional Park, home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the whole region, so why not spend time on the beach – which is reachable in just twenty minutes on foot? Then, in the evening, we would love to dine alfresco on authentic pizza and pasta – accompanied by a bottle of local Italian wine – under the shade of the trees.

As far as villas go, you don't get much more 'hilltop' than this. Soak up the views across the Umbrian hills towards the city of Todi, a tableau so beautiful so you'll never want to leave. The scents of jasmine, lavender, and roses follow you down the stone steps to the infinity pool, which is surrounded by sun loungers and a shaded gazebo. The views take centre-stage in the villa, too – large windows surround the space, where you'll find a country-style kitchen with an island and a cosy living space with a corner sofa and fireplace. A marble staircase leads upstairs to the bedrooms, where you'll wake up each morning to similarly spectacular country vistas. Sip your coffee outside on the terrace, then spend the morning sunbathing on the perfectly manicured lawn. Take the 10-minute drive to Todi to wander the cobbled streets and explore local restaurants – you might recognise some of the plazas from Italian movies. Pick up some local wine to enjoy with a barbecue back at your villa, and savour a glass while admiring the stunning sunset over the surrounding hills.

There are few things better in life than an infinity pool, but an infinity pool with a gorgeous view is definitely among them. This home in the heart of Umbria treats paddlers to a verdant panorama of rolling countryside and distant hilltops.

It's a truly rustic scene and you'll be glad to hear that the home itself slots nicely into the landscape. Traditional in style, you'll find high-ceilinged rooms filled with elegant wooden furnishings, antique decorations and floor tiling so shiny you can almost see your reflection in it. However, it's more modern where it matters, particularly the super-sleek bathrooms and equally glossy kitchens.

If you pay a visit during the warmer months, you'll most likely want to spend as many hours out in the open air as possible and that's more than easy to do here. As well as the aforementioned pool, guests also have a large garden at their disposal, plus a barbecue and alfresco table for when dinnertime rolls around.

There are plenty of attractions in the local area, too. Bevagna is only a kilometre away and its quaint streets are lovely to wander before stopping for dinner and digestifs in one of the restaurants. You don't have to travel much further to find more Umbrian gems either, from Assisi 25 kilometres away to Perugia only 44 kilometres away.

A seven-minute drive from two of the Adriatic coast’s glorious beaches, this Italian country villa sits in a blissfully quiet location. You’re overlooking rolling vineyards here, verdant green in summer and burnt orange and sunshine yellow in autumn. The perfect shores of Marcelli Beach and Numama Beach are each a seven-minute drive away, where loungers line the sand and the sea is crystal clear.

Back at the villa, you’ve got a shared swimming pool should you fancy a cooling dip in summer. Open up the double doors in the living room to the private brick patio, or the shaded veranda on the other side of the house. Inside, you’ve got the staples of Italian rusticana keeping things on theme; wooden ceilings and thick exposed stone walls. The kitchen is decidedly sleek and modern, and there are pops of character courtesy of gilded mirrors and Chinese dressers.

Amidst rolling hills and sweeping vineyards, this stone villa promises a serene Umbrian getaway. With a seasonal swimming pool, outdoor fire pit and dappled terrace perfect for alfresco dining, you won't be short on spots to soak up the swoon-worthy scenery. Inside, the design is charming and cosy, bursting with traditional character. Some may consider it a little dated, but we think that's part of the appeal. Two guests will share a sofa bed on the mezzanine, though – since privacy is limited, we think it's best for kids. Location-wise, you're just a short drive from the small medieval town of Gualdo Cattaneo, while Todi, Perugia and Assisi are all excellent options for day trips.
