This villa is an excellent spot in which to admire the natural beauty of Sardinia. Thanks to the home's elevated position, guests get a wonderful view of the dazzling blue waters of Porto Rotondo from the upper floors. However, don't be surprised if the paradisical garden immediately below grabs your attention, too.

Out here in among the colourful flower beds and handsome granite walls, you can while away lazy afternoons paddling about in the swimming pool, catching some rays on the loungers or cooking up a storm in the outdoor kitchen (complete with a barbecue and pizza oven).

Inside, the home is spread across four floors, so while there are plenty of stairs, it feels cool and airy, thanks to the high ceilings, stark white walls and terracotta tiling underfoot. There's a discernible rustic theme to the design, from the wicker chairs and natural-themed artwork to the large rock feature in the main entrance hall.

With the nautical location, you might not be surprised to learn that there are two beaches that can be reached in just over a quarter of an hour's walk (Spiaggia dei Sassi and di Ira), while the historic city of Olbia takes a similar amount of time to reach in the car, too. Closer to home, there are a handful of restaurants, bars and discos in the local area.

From here you can explore the area's hidden coves and peaceful beaches on foot, and spend your evenings drinking in the spectacular sea sunsets. You’ll have a Jacuzzi to unwind in but no pool, so this home will really only appeal to those who enjoy sea swimming and the feel of sand underfoot. The twin rooms are ideal for children. Location-wise, Costa Paradiso is yours to discover. Li Cossi beach is less than a five-minute drive, with restaurants, bars and seasonal shops also within striking distance.

The view from this villa is simply stunning. From every angle in the garden, your eye is drawn to the Gulf of Pevero, and to the lush scenery of this Emerald Coast home. The private infinity pool and outdoor lounge are undoubtedly the stars of the show here, but the interior has plenty of appeal too. Kids will love the cinema area, and the gym is handy too. The fine white sand and turquoise waters of Porto Paglia beach are just a short distance away. You’ll need to pay extra for towels and bed linen.

If you want to get some diving done while you’re in Sardinia, this could be the perfect base for you. This villa is in Santa Teresa di Gallura, just 450 metres from Baia Santa Reparata, a beach known for its colourful seabeds. You can also easily hop on a boat trip to explore La Maddalena Archipelago. When you’re on terra firma, you’ll enjoy the outside space here – the private pool and shaded terrace are where we’d be spending most of our time. Some of the decor is a little dated, but there’s also plenty of charm here – you’ll need to pay for bedding and towels though.

Situated on the north-western tip of Sardinia, just a six-minute walk from the white-sand shoreline of La Pelosa Beach, this modern apartment is pared-back, bright and breezy. Days begin with a cup of coffee in the open-plan living space before soaking up the sunshine from your private balcony. Should you start to feel peckish, the kitchenette is equipped for putting together quick snacks but if you fancy something a little more substantial, there’s a smattering of restaurants and cafes just 500 metres from your doorstep. 

Stretch your legs with a stroll over to the Punto Panoramico, thirteen minutes away, for knockout views of the Mediterranean or jump in the car and take the five-minute drive to the small fishing village of Stintino – we couldn’t get enough of the pastel-hued buildings and charming cobbled streets.

And, there's even a sparkling swimming pool – take a dip before refueling with an alfresco meal cooked on the grill. 

If you're taking a boat with you, you can arrange to moor it at the Marina di Sa Jaga, just a short walk away. When you fancy a beach day, hop in the car and drive over to Spiaggia di Marinella for a day on the sand. And, if you're feeling adventurous, head inland to hike through the epic landscapes – there's no place quite like Sardinia.

Outdoor living is made easy here thanks to a practical outdoor kitchen, a huge covered seating area, and an alfresco dining table. Lazy days can be spent cooling off in the infinity pool, relaxing on a lounger with a good book, and watching the sunset with your favourite cocktail in hand. The local town, Fertilia, has bars and restaurants, and for a slice of Sardinian history, a five-minute drive will take you to Alghero with its ancient walls, cobblestoned old centre, and gothic buildings.
