From your spot at this apartment in the east of the city, you can reach the opposite side and visit Anne Frank’s house in just over thirty minutes on foot, or even less by bike. Spend your days strolling through Amsterdam’s ‘cultural garden’ and visiting the nearby museums and markets before returning for a meal cooked in the fully-equipped kitchen.

Located in the Plantage neighbourhood, this is one of the more leafy corners of Amsterdam. Hortus Botanicus gardens can be reached in seven minutes on foot, while the city's zoo only takes four. The famous Rijksmuseum is a twenty-five minute wander along the canals, too.

Sitting next to the Nieuwe Keizersgracht canal there are lots of scenic walks to enjoy, with plenty of inviting cafes along the way. The peaceful Plantage district is known as the “cultural garden’ of the city, with a plethora of museums and parks on offer. Central Station is just a fifteen-minute walk away should you wish to explore further afield, and there’s also parking available at the home. After a day exploring the delights of Amsterdam, why not relax by the fire in the communal lounge with a freshly-made coffee.

With its red brick façade and canal-side location, this home perfectly slots in with Amsterdam's architecture. And it's not surprising, given the building has been here since 1772. Once a Lutheran church, the space has now been divided into a series of aparthotels, each as stylish as the next. Interiors are minimalist and modernist, combining white brushed walls with bright orange sofas and olive green dining chairs. Downstairs, the kitchenette and living space provide everything needed for evenings in, with a towering steel wood-burner if you get chilly. The bedroom is found on the mezzanine level, up a sweeping set of pine stairs. A black and glass balcony contrasts with old wooden beams and exposed brick walls, while mornings start with vistas over the city.

On the outside, this 18th-century building is bursting with character and charm. Step inside, however, and you'll find a bright and contemporary studio apartment kitted out with all the modern comforts you'll need – a compact kitchenette, a luxurious rain shower and a sumptuous sofa perfect for lounging after a long day. There are some period characteristics, too – we love the beams on the ceiling and the gorgeous sash window that floods the space with light. Guests will also have access to the communal gym for morning workouts, a sleek lounge for when you need a change of scenery and a beautiful courtyard for relaxing in the sun.

Location-wise, you're right on the tree-lined Nieuwe Keizersgracht canal, just a stone's throw from excellent restaurants, local boutiques, hip bars and historical museums. With Central Station only fifteen minutes away and everything within walking distance, you won't need a car here. Set off and explore on foot, or better yet, make like the locals and rent a bike from the kiosk out front – it's truly the best way to get around Amsterdam.
