If you're heading to this part of Holland we can safely assume you enjoy the water. Right on the coast and just 1.5 kilometres from Wemeldinge Beach, it's part of a holiday park that's all about getting outside and enjoying the water. Bring your bikes and explore this part of the world at your own pace.

Inside, this home is modern and comfortable, with plenty of room for a family. A sociable, open-plan living room is fitted with a contemporary kitchen and you can choose to eat indoors or outside on the covered part of the terrace. But the real star of the show is the home's spacious deck overlooking the park's lake. Complete with comfy outdoor sofas and an outdoor shower to rinse the sand off those feet, it's the perfect spot for evening drinks.

It's not really about the interiors or cute plot of this home – but rather about its fantastic location. Part of a resort, the small cabin is near a lake and only moments from the ocean. An endless array of activities is on offer in this region, whether you want to take to the high seas by sailing or stay firmly on dry land with a cycle ride. On your return, calming minimalist interiors greet you. A grey panelled exterior is punctuated by floor-to-ceiling glass windows, which flood the space with light and give views over the fields. Muted tones reign supreme, whether you're curled up on the ash sofa or cooking something in the white kitchen. Evenings can be spent playing card games on the wooden table, underneath hanging bare bulb lights, before drifting off in one of the calming bedrooms. Make sure you get a good night's sleep – you're going to need it with all there is to do here.

For a trip away from home, this entirely modern holiday pad is right on the money. Grab the kids and get ready for a time filled with beach days, swimming, tennis, sailing – we could go on. You could even cross the border into Belgium and spend a day in medieval Antwerp, with its impressive cathedral and café-lined cobbled streets. Back at the house, head inside and light the gas fireplace for an inviting warmth or take things outside onto the deck. There’s a barbecue just waiting to be fired up for a family meal, but the jetty is our favourite spot. Leave the kids in front of the television while you watch the water and enjoy a glass of wine to round up a fun-filled day. Proost.

Waters & Windmills

This modern cabin sits right next to a lovely lake within a holiday complex of similar homes. Sleek design and plenty of space mean you won’t feel confined here. Each contemporary cabin is spaced out to offer a little privacy and enjoys a slice of garden by the water. The large windows of the living area look out on verdant lawns running down to the edge of the lake, where a wooden deck by the water is set up with sun loungers. A covered outdoor area is ideal for sheltered, alfresco dining. Inside neutral shades and clean lines bring a sense of calm and tranquillity. This home makes for an easy and convenient place for a family holiday in this tranquil part of the world. There are beaches a short drive away (1.5km) and plenty of leisure activities to fill your holiday days. 

The Lake House

Known for its beaches and seafood caught straight from the North Sea, Zeeland shines a light on another side of the Netherlands. It's packed with outdoor activities, from windsurfing and sailing to cycling, and you'll be perfectly placed to enjoy it all. This cosy cabin is sandwiched between a lake and the ocean, set in a dedicated holiday resort. Days can either be spent exploring the picturesque coastline or with a book on the lake's jetty. On your return, an oasis of muted colours greets you. The open-plan living space has two clear sections: in one corner, an L-shaped sofa faces floor-to-ceiling windows and is warmed by a towering white fireplace, while in the other, a kitchenette and dining room table are on hand when you don't feel like heading into town. Bedrooms are equally minimalist, meaning there will be no fights for who sleeps where, with a choice of two double beds and calming cream colours.

Mirrored Lives

Discover the unique landscape of Zeeland from his contemporary apartment by the sea. In a peaceful resort in picturesque Wemeldinge, you're just a short drive from the historic town of Goes as well as numerous coastal towns. You'll look forward to returning to this cosy home each day, which offers plenty of home comforts, including a coffee machine. Speaking of, enjoy a cup of coffee each morning on the terrace where you can soak up the fresh sea air. Fans of watersports will be right at home here, as you can try sailing and diving lessons in Wemeldinge, but you might be equally happy to unwind on the town's beach. Dine out at one of the local seafood restaurants – we've heard that Zeeland's oysters are to die for – or rustle up a home-cooked meal in your home's fully-equipped kitchen. As night falls, rest your feet on the plush corner sofa in front of the television, and make plans for another day in this charming destination.

Sandwiched between a lake and the ocean, this home is a chic option within a holiday resort. From the outside, the grey panelled walls and floor-to-ceiling windows look much like the rest of the camp, but step inside to find a surprisingly modern aesthetic. Wooden floorboards and arched ceilings add a sense of space to the living area, while muted tones are broken up with a few statement pieces, from the towering slate fireplace to the leafy plotted plant. The two bedrooms contrast light and dark, with a sunshine-yellow double and a navy-blue twin. Step outside to truly make the most of your stay, whether you're taking part in one of the many outdoor activities or looking to chill out by the lake. An alfresco sofa set is found on a raised platform, and glasses of wine are made all the more special with the background music of a babbling stream.

Located just an eighteen-minute walk from the nearest sandy beach at Wemeldinge, days here are spent chilling by the coast, swimming in the sea and enjoying scenic strolls along the pretty marina, a half-hour walk from your door. 

Back inside, you'll find a modern living space where cosy velvet furnishings, wood floors and neutral tones make up a calm and comfortable place to call home for a while. Relax on the mustard-coloured armchair with your morning coffee and stroopwafel or plan the day's agenda around the dining table. Natural light pours in throughout the day, thanks to the tall walls of glass that slide open to reveal your private alfresco areas. 

Soak up the sun from the comfort of a recliner or gather the group together for a feast on the covered terrace. Break open a bottle of bubbly and lap up the crisp sea air from your own little beach hut. Bliss.

This modern lodge sits is part of a seaside resort, with unadulterated views of the sparkling blue water. Whenever the mood strikes, you can walk down to the harbour, watch the boats on the water, and breathe in the fresh air. Embark on a trip to discover the charming little village of Wemeldinge, its windmill giving you a glimpse into old-world traditional Holland, and back at home, lie down on the comfy sofa to rest your legs. When it comes to dinner, you can head out to check out the local restaurants, or cook for yourself and enjoy it on your elegant dining table or out on the terrace. The two double bedrooms are large and stylish, perfectly suited to couples or a family. This home is also a fantastic base for checking out the area’s beautiful hiking trails – and water sports in summer.

On the edge of the Oosterschelde National Park, this contemporary home is the ideal base for exploring the local region. Inside, modern style reigns, with mid-century-style furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows. You'll enjoy cooking in the sleek, modern kitchen and there's no better place to unwind in the evening than in front of the gas fireplace. This home has two terraces, so you'll get to choose where to enjoy your coffee each morning before heading out to explore. Wander into Wemeldinge, a small town with a lively harbour and beach, or head further inland to charming Goes, which has a historic star-shaped centre walled by canals. In the evening, choose to enjoy a meal in town or just hole up in your cosy home with a home-cooked feast. As the night draws in, light up the fireplace and unwind in front of the television with a hot chocolate.

Tide Turned

Located right at the water’s edge of the Oosterschelde estuary in Zeeland, this home is a quiet retreat made for relaxing. Its monochromatic outside gives way to a modern, bright interior full of colourful art, sleek Scandi furniture and large windows. Enjoy your morning coffee on the sunny waterside deck, then go out and explore the sights. The old village of Wemeldinge with its wonderful windmills is just a ten-minute walk away while the city of Goes is ten-minutes away by car. Wemeldinge Beach is also just a five-minute drive away, offering plenty of opportunities for sailing, fishing, horseback riding and sunning yourself on its sandy shores. After a day of activities, come back home for an al fresco meal on the terrace before curling up on the couch by the fire.


On The Deck

You’ll find this neat little chalet on a water resort, just a stone’s throw from the Oosterschelde. Surprisingly spacious inside, it’s distinguished from its neighbours by its fresh modern palette of dusky pinks and pebble greys. With two bedrooms, a terrace and a community feel to the resort, it’s a great option for a family holiday. Spend your days here exploring the distinctive flat landscapes of Zeeland by bike, roaming the nearby sandy beaches, fishing, and splashing about on boats in the marina. With restaurants, bars and shops all within walking distance, there’s no need to use the car during your stay – but if you do fancy a drive, the seaside town of Goes is just fifteen-minutes away, with its medieval harbour and boutique shops.
