If you're heading to this part of Holland we can safely assume you enjoy the water. Right on the coast and just 1.5 kilometres from Wemeldinge Beach, it's part of a holiday park that's all about getting outside and enjoying the water. Bring your bikes and explore this part of the world at your own pace.

Inside, this home is modern and comfortable, with plenty of room for a family. A sociable, open-plan living room is fitted with a contemporary kitchen and you can choose to eat indoors or outside on the covered part of the terrace. But the real star of the show is the home's spacious deck overlooking the park's lake. The fireplace beckons you on colder evenings and creates a romantic atmosphere –  perfect for trying Belgian beer. Having the kitchen in the open-plan living space may dissuade you from experimenting with anything pungent, but at least you can keep the designated cook company as they prepare dinner. From your doorstep, you're just a short stroll from historic sites, restaurants and bars, while the River Leie is only five minutes away.

If you like your beaches secluded and your sand icing-sugar fine, but prefer a comfortable, rather than tropical, temperature, then head for Egmond aan Zee. Its monochromatic outside gives way to a modern, bright interior full of colourful art, sleek Scandi furniture and large windows. Enjoy your morning coffee on the sunny waterside deck, then go out and explore the sights. The old village of Wemeldinge with its wonderful windmills is just a ten-minute walk away while the city of Goes is ten-minutes away by car. Wemeldinge Beach is also just a five-minute drive away, offering plenty of opportunities for sailing, fishing, horseback riding and sunning yourself on its sandy shores. After a day of activities, come back home for an al fresco meal on the terrace before curling up on the couch by the fire.

The two bedrooms contrast light and dark, with a sunshine-yellow double and a navy-blue twin. Dine out at one of the local seafood restaurants – we've heard that Zeeland's oysters are to die for – or rustle up a home-cooked meal in your home's fully-equipped kitchen. As night falls, rest your feet on the plush corner sofa in front of the television, and make plans for another day in this charming destination.

You can tell this incredibly chic apartment has been designed by someone with a keen aesthetic eye. The walls are painted in distinctive, elegant tones, the cream corduroy sofa is an enviable centrepiece to the living room, and the pops of lush plant life in each room tie the whole effect together. Wake up and draw the curtains to let the sunlight stream in through the two huge bedroom windows before sipping a coffee on the balcony. Every effort towards comfort and enjoyment has been made: the bathroom has a bathtub and a huge double headed walk in shower, and there is a clothing rail and plenty of storage space for your things.

The kitchen is a joy to cook in, with high spec appliances and plenty of space. On warmer days, fire up the barbecue and enjoy al fresco meals on your spacious, modern roof terrace.
