Situated on the coast of Algarve, this modern home’s crowning jewel might be the lush green garden, outdoor seating, and the crystal-clear swimming pool, but indoors you’ll find plenty of diamonds, too. The vaulted ceilings of the living room, for one, is a feature that not only makes it feel more spacious, but, along with the natural light, it goes a long way in creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Take advantage of that by getting into your favourite position and passing the time with a good book and an aromatic tea. 

Also wedged between terracotta tiles and exposed rafters, you’ll find a generous bedroom that’s practically designed for afternoon naps. That’s the general feeling this home instils – to forget about time and simply do what moves you in the moment. If that happens to be a casual afternoon swim in the pool, then so be it. Otherwise, spend time lounging poolside with an ice cold drink in hand, admiring the porcelain work of the plate-decorated walls right where you can dine alfresco, or simply staring at the view.

Albufeira marina is 3 kilometres away, so you’ll need a car if you’d like to explore more of the area. But for those seeking convenience without needing to drive, you’ll find all the amenities you could need within walking distance. If you’re looking for a party house, this one isn’t for you. Instead, you’ll find a family-friendly home that makes it easy to relax and enjoy this sweet location.

Replete with places to catch some sun, this home in Albufeira first caught our attention with its rooftop terrace and stunning pool. Three of the four bedrooms here are twins, making this home ideal for a group of friends or families with plenty of kids but perhaps less suitable for a couples' trip. And while there is a fee for using the air conditioning, the home has plenty of outdoor spaces where you can catch a breeze, and there's that inviting pool, too. Nearby you'll find plenty of restaurants and bars, while sandy beaches are within walking distance.

Situated in the laidback, seaside neighbourhood of Galé, this dreamy holiday home has ‘idyllic’ written all over it. We fell in love with the outdoor areas the minute we saw them. The hammock makes the perfect place to get stuck into a good book, while the covered dining terrace is wonderful for sunset socialising with cocktails in hand. And that's all without mentioning that amazing outdoor private pool, where you can float on a lilo and top up your tan, or splash about to your heart's content.

Inside, the home is somehow even more striking. Colourful retro interiors give the home a wonderfully charming feel – the dining area looks like something from an Alice in Wonderland book, and is ideal for feasting on Piri-Piri chicken – and the vibrant lounge is fantastic for late-night drinks and party games. There's even a sauna here for when you need ultimate relaxation.

Situated in a resort along Albufeira’s golden coast, this villa will suit families looking to experience Algarve living. The minimal interior is functional but bright, with plenty of space to enjoy quiet moments and family time. While this is somewhat of a touristic location, you can unwind effortlessly within the privacy of this inviting villa – kids will love swimming in the pool while the terrace is primed for barbecued feasts. The coastline isn’t too far – with Praia da Ponta Pequena and Praia de São Rafael within walking distance. Though you’ll have local eateries at your fingertips, the centre of Albufeira is a short drive away, where you’ll find a more diverse array of restaurants.

Perfect for a group of six, each bedroom boasts an en-suite so there will be no bathroom queue in the mornings – who wants to be held up indoors when the Algarve sun is high in the sky? The private pool offers some welcome respite from the heat of the day, while the barbecue and outdoor seating make alfresco dining a must. Locally, you can head out on a dolphin-watching tour or take a ten-minute stroll to the beach – stopping off at a restaurant en route to fuel up for wherever the day takes you.

For us, this home is all about the location. The traditional style of its interiors may not tick everyone’s boxes, but it’s comfortable for eight guests with each bedroom boasting an en-suite. The outdoor space will delight sun-worshipers, with ample space to soak up some rays – the upper floor sea view balcony is a particular treat. For children and adults alike, the swimming pool and basement games room provide plenty of entertainment, while for days out, it’s just a hop, skip and jump to Galé beach, perfect for families and those who love a splash of watersports.

Jump in the car to uncover Algarve's secluded coves, or you could stay put exactly where you are. Galé's five kilometers of glorious sands, backed by beachside bars and cafes, might be all you need.

Back at home, there's a more-is-more opulence about this characterful villa awash in sunny yellow. Friends or families holidaying together will love how spaced out and private the bedrooms feel, set across two floors and each one boasting their own en-suite.

But it's the outside space that's getting us really hot under the collar. Surrounding a glorious pool, you'll discover courtyard gardens that feel like your own riad oasis. The attention to detail is astonishing – with little vignettes of mosaics and lanterns everywhere you look and a sea of coloured floor cushions waiting for you to dive right in. 

And if you like what you see in the day, imagine how atmospheric this place feels at night as you fire up the barbecue in the outdoor kitchen. With the lanterns all aglow, it's a magical place to be.

Simple yet comfortable, this villa ensures a stress-free stay for all of its guests. To the rear of the home, there’s a fenced swimming pool (ideal if you have the little ones in tow) and a covered terrace with a built-in barbecue for grilled lunches in the sunshine. While the interior isn’t the most inspiring, there’s enough space for the whole group to relax. Beach-wise, Praia do Castelo is around a fifteen-minute walk away and Praia do Galé’s three miles of golden sand is reached in a couple of minutes by car.

This white-washed villa puts Albufeira at your fingertips. The marina is a short stroll away, golden beaches are a five-minute drive, and Old Town's restaurants, shops and cafes are twenty minutes on foot. Not a bad spot to call home. The garden is perfect for enjoying afternoon swims in the pool (which can be heated for a cost) as well as alfresco meals under the stars. Inside, the single beds can convert into doubles to suit your needs, and the lower-level games room has a sofa bed that can sleep the ninth and tenth guests for an additional fee.

Just a few steps away from the Old Town of Albufeira and Pescadores Beach, this spot invites guests for an authentic taste of the Algarve. With the town's vast array of shops, bars and restaurants at your fingertips, you'll benefit from a comfortable and practical stay having this apartment as your base. Modern designs create a laid-back ambience, and while the swimming pool is shared with three other apartments, there's a real sense of seclusion found in the waterfront garden. From here, you'll be able to hear the ocean sway – with plenty of perching spots to choose from (our favourite is the hammock).

Occupying a prime spot on the ever-popular Algarve coast, this spacious villa can comfortably accommodate your family or a group of your closest friends thanks to its spacious open layout and double-height atrium that ensures plenty of natural light. Outdoors, a private lap pool sits surrounded by sun loungers, while a sweeping outdoor staircase leads up to the first-floor en-suite bedrooms, which offer glimpses of the nearby ocean. There are some intimate cliff-backed beaches within walking distance, with family-friendly Praia Grande offering a playground, plus pedalo and kayak hire, a short drive away. Elsewhere, golf aficionados will surely appreciate the villa's proximity to several world-class courses.

If you were to cross the sea in a straight line due south from this villa on the Algarve coast, you'd eventually reach Morocco and it's clear that this home's design has been influenced by its cross-continental neighbour.

Inside, this can be seen with the ogee-shaped light fittings and artwork, but it's the Berber-style tent area outside that captures the spirit of North Africa best. Here, it's possible to escape the hottest part of the afternoon on a comfy pouffe or to relax after dinner with a session on the shisha pipe.

Elsewhere outside, guests will find a long swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen and an alfresco dining table on the green-tiled terrace. There are even covered balconies leading off from some of the bedrooms where you can look out over the rooftops of nearby Galé.

There's no shortage of beaches in this corner of the world, with Praia dos Calvoeiros only six minutes' walk away. Albufeira and its Old Town take just over ten minutes to reach in the car, too.

Moroccan Marriage

Located in the quiet area of Gale, this villa is located just minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve. While there are plenty of restaurants and bars within a ten-minute walk, we highly recommend renting a car to go and explore the old town of Albufeira. This home has plenty of outdoor space, which is ideal if you’re travelling with little ones who need to blow off some steam. The lawned garden and private pool are the ideal spots to soak up the sunshine, while the barbecue and covered dining terrace are perfect for alfresco evenings.


Far Far Away

In the centre of Vale de Parra, you’ll be in the thick of one of the Algarve’s most beloved areas. The atmosphere is more laid-back than other resorts on the Algarve coast, but you’ll still be within walking distance of some great restaurants, bars and shops. The villa has a garden enclosed within high walls, so you can enjoy privacy when using the pool and hot tub. Gale and Albufeira are just a 10-minute drive away if you fancy a little adventure.

A Quiet Corner

This southern Portuguese home boasts a luscious garden and a private swimming pool as well as a covered alfresco dining area – perfect for taking advantage of the brick-built barbecue and Algarvian sunshine. While the interior aesthetics won’t appeal to everyone, this family-friendly home is both comfortable and functional, with three of the four bedrooms comprising twin beds. Location-wise, it’s also pretty handy – Praia da Galé is the nearest beach and there’s a good selection of local eateries within a short stroll.

The popular beaches of Castelo and Evaristo are within walking distance – as are plenty of shops and eateries – but this home has more going for it than just location. Outside, the choice of covered terraces, quiet balconies, and poolside daybeds will appeal to those wanting a laid-back stay.

Nearby, guests will find an array of activities to enjoy, from horseback riding and golfing to fine dining and a vibrant nightlife. The home itself is laid out over two floors, and while it might lack a sense of unique character it offers ample comfort and amenities to enjoy. Downstairs, the combined living and dining room opens seamlessly through sliding glass doors onto the pool deck, providing the perfect indoor-outdoor holiday space, ideal for barbecuing, swimming, and dining alfresco. Upstairs, the four bedrooms with en-suites create a relaxing sense of privacy, perfect for resting and recharging.

This gorgeous beach villa is guaranteed to leave you wanting more. Offering a private pool and an outdoor area perfect for the family, it's also a short distance away from a beach and a marina. After tucking into a delicious breakfast at the outdoor dining table, head inside to challenge your children to a fun game of table football. Mocha At The Marina

Casa das Tilias is a stunning villa located in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of the popular resort of Gale. It has been completely renovated in 2019 to an impressive standard, with elegant design and luxurious furnishings throughout. The property features a fabulous 11m by 4m private pool, extensive poolside terrace, and private full-size enclosed tennis court. Upstairs, the villa's accommodation has an airy atmosphere with each bedroom individually styled and boasting bold, oversized headboards and opulent bed linen. All rooms have their own balcony overlooking the pool and gardens. On the ground floor is an open-plan lounge and dining room exuding style and sophistication. The owner has also provided Bluetooth speakers in the ceiling lights, a fully fitted kitchen with high gloss cabinetry, a plush sofa for relaxation, and a striking glass dining table to linger over meals. Outside, there is an alfresco cooking area with stone BBQ and shaded gazebo tucked away beneath the olive trees in the gardens. Guests are free to pick from the palms, hibiscus, nut, and fruit trees in season. There are numerous shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance, while Gale beach with its soft golden sand is only minutes away by car.
