This home is a little dated in places so it won’t suit those seeking a slick, modern abode, but it’s a comfortable base, and the outside space is a real treat.

We love the decor of this home, with swinging chairs and a funky mural that make it feel warm and welcoming. A stay here means you'll have access to the shared outdoor pool and tennis court, ideal for spending days in the sunshine.

Sitting pretty close to the Algarve's celebrated coastline, this villa treats guests to a panoramic view of the region's white rooftops and the Mediterranean Sea from the terrace up on the third floor – and this isn't the only bit of outside space. Head back down to the ground level and you'll find a peaceful private garden that leads out to larger communal grounds and a shared swimming pool.

Although you'll undoubtedly be spending a vast amount of your time here outside, you'll like what you see when you eventually have to head indoors. There's a traditional edge to the design, what with the terracotta tiles underfoot and the colourful artwork hung on whitewashed walls, but other parts feel way more contemporary – the bright and airy kitchen and bathrooms, in particular. 

When you want to see a little more of the local region, the local town of Armação de Pêra can be easily reached on foot and offers a 6km-long stretch of bay, plus lots of restaurants and nightlife. Further along the coastline, the destinations of Albufera and Faro, as well as a huge number of golf courses, lie not too far away by car.

One of our favourite highlights was the private steps that led from the villa right out onto the sand, providing immediate beach access. Aside from time spent relaxing at the seaside-chic villa, the outside area of the town provides sailing boat rental, canoeing, and a bustling village square with local fare and fishermen showcasing the catch of the day.

Nestled close to the historic town of Silves and Algarve's sandy beaches, this home captures every bit of sunshine in its expansive pool and lavish terraces. Avocado and citrus trees provide shade in the garden, for when you just need a bit of peace and quiet, but there are also plenty of activities around. Whether that’s the tennis court, table tennis and table football, or the bikes provided, you aren’t going to run short of things to keep you busy. We’d also recommend trying your hand at the barbecue – a converted bread oven – which adds to the rustic feel of the home.

Just a stone's throw from the warm golden sands of Praia do Vau, this modern apartment is located in a closed complex with a large communal pool and lovely gardens. The open-plan living area boasts a cosy balcony with enough space for alfresco dining, and the main bedroom enjoys a second small balcony with room to sit out and unwind. You won't need to drive to make the most of your stay, but your host can help arrange a car rental if needed. They can also provide a range of baby equipment at an additional cost, making family holidays a breeze.

Nestled on the banks of the Arade River, this luxurious villa offers a rural retreat with spectacular surroundings.
