Getting lost in Mouraria's winding streets is a trip into the past, and part of the neighbourhood's authentic appeal. The Azure Terrace is situated in a house typical for the neighbourhood, which means that the outside (in stark contrast to the home itself) is a bit scruffy. The Azure Terrace is a home with all the features we want to see in a Lisbon Plum home – a private terrace, cute rustic design with lots of modern features and plenty of natural light. The abundance of fado shown in the vicinity is just a bonus.

Cloaked in rich tapestry and quirky decor, this home has an undeniable air of splendour. We particularly love the regal piano, calling you for late-night sing-along sessions. But when you step into the kitchen, you'll see how homely and inviting this apartment is, with its colourful tiles and huge dining table fit for family dinners of laughs, drinks, and old stories. It's one that's built to be cooked in, and in this beautiful, well-equipped kitchen, you'll be glad to do so. We tested this home in the winter, so the outside spaces don't look as appealing as they will in the summer, but the building itself hides the remains of a Roman settlement, so you'll be living and breathing history.

Location might be the most important consideration when you’re booking an escape to the city, but with this home in the heart of Lisbon that doesn’t mean compromising on style. Already crisp, minimal, and understated, you can also add bright to the list as soon as you open the shuttered windows dotted around this home. With the light streaming in, the contrast of the mostly white interior will make the green of the house plants look all the more vivid, whilst creating a calming and rejuvenating atmosphere. Enjoy the mezzanine bedroom by staying in bed with a good book and a cup of coffee. There’s a small balcony too, to enjoy your morning espresso and the first of the day’s sun before heading off into charming Lisbon. Contrary to its homespun interiors, your apartment is on the affluent Avenida da Liberdade, lined with trees and high-end retailers—it’s one of Europe’s most luxurious shopping destinations. From your picturebook Pombaline pad, it’s a gentle fifteen-minute walk to Baixa, Lisbon’s downtown district, filled with upscale eateries and bars, and ten minutes up hill to Parque Eduardo VII, with unmissable views of the city and the River Tagus in the distance.

This home is a  paradise for shoppers – it's situated just off the tree-lined Avenida da Liberdade, famous as one of the most expensive shopping streets in Europe with its designer stores such as Cartier and Prada. For a wealth of bars, restaurants and historic architecture, take a fifteen-minute stroll to the picturesque neighbourhood of Bairro Alto. Or head to Praça do Comércio with its harbour-facing square, a twenty-minute stroll away. The immediate area isn't super touristy but feels more authentic and quiet, which is something we always like. Back at this stylish apartment, take a seat on the comfy sofa and rest your feet after all that retail therapy or get some fresh air on the balcony. This place has everything you need for a comfortable stay –  we particularly love the vintage furniture scattered throughout the house, as well as the gorgeous marble-style bathrooms. With this home, you can really live like a Lisboeta.

Although this home was built with functionality in mind, we found plenty to love about The Writer's Corne beyond its on-point location in Lisbon. Nestled in one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in Lisbon, Mouraria's narrow and colourful streets will show you a different side of the capital. Minimal interiors, soft furnishings and a laid-back design aesthetic give way to lots of natural light flooding through the space.  At the edge of the dining area, there's a great little spot with a chair and desk, flooded with light – perfect for writing your travel memoir or remote working. With the master bedroom featuring its own en-suite bathroom, leaving the main bathroom for the other guests - this home truly is the perfect spot for a small group of friends who want to lap up Lisbon with pure ease and comfort. For days of downtime and relaxation, make the most of the resident-only terrace and infinity pool that offers a breathtaking view of the historic São Jorge Castle. Head to the stunning Jardim da Cerca da Graça park, only a four-minute walk away for a coffee with some fresh air, before weaving in and out of the quaint streets of Mouraria or hopping on the tramway to venture further afield.

Tucked away inside a typical Lisbon townhouse, this cute and characterful space is a delightful surprise. With a wooden Pombaline frame that transforms the communal area into a library, this home is an excellent option for an avid reader – the outdoor balcony will win over the rest with gorgeous views of the nearby botanical garden. While most visitors flock to the likes of Alfama and Bairro Alto, this stunning apartment is located in the heart of Principe Real. Admittedly, it's further away from the historical city centre, but its pastel-coloured mansion apartments and wide boulevards provide it with a charm all of its own. You'll find the enchanting ten-acre Jardim Botânico de Lisboa and the lush Jardim do Príncipe Real within a five-minute walk. While your capable kitchen can handle anything you can throw at/over it, you're spoiled for choice when it comes to local eateries – it's a veritable foodie heaven. Choose to chow down at A Cevicheria, where you can indulge in a light and zesty menu of citrus-cured fish and mouth-puckering pisco sours. Alternatively, Atalho Real plates up melt-in-the-mouth meat in a relaxed environment. Once you've eaten your fill, there's a tempting choice of local bars where you can keep the party going – Pavilhão Chinês serves imaginative long drinks in an old grocery store packed with flea market finds and bric-a-brac. At the same time, cult favourite Foxtrot might be reminiscent of a good old British pub, but the creative cocktail menu promises so much more.

The home isn't the most unique or stylish space, however, for solo travellers or couples looking for a practical base, this is the perfect fit. It's bright and modern, with a laptop-friendly desk for those working remotely or wanting to map out their Lisbon adventures. Location-wise, you're a short stroll from many of the must-see sights and cultural hotspots, including the Praça do Comércio, Sé de Lisboa, and Castelo de S. Jorge.

Inside, the living room feels like a 60s entertainer’s paradise, with velvet sofas, gallery-white walls and curious sculptures lining the room. A twenty-minute stroll sees you in the winding, cobbled streets of Alfama, crowned with a castle, or the grand streets of Baixa packed with local restaurants and bars.

Located just a five-minute walk from Lisbon’s main shopping street Avenida da Liberdade, this bright home is the perfect base for those looking to explore the city on foot. Rua de São José is famous for its opulent design boutiques, as well as upscale restaurants and bars that make this street a perfect day out for those who appreciate the finer things in life. Solar has excellent natural light and it's obvious that it's been designed by an architect – the azulejo details give subtle, yet frequent nods to traditional Portuguese design. Although we'd love to see some more artwork on the walls, this home does an excellent job of mixing several different stone textures that give each room a distinct character.

You’ll be just a nine-minute walk from Lisbon’s prime shopping destination – Avenida da Liberdade – but if you’d rather peruse the gardens than the shops, Parque Eduardo VII is an easy five-minute walk away and the perfect spot for morning strolls. Back at home, you’ll find a calming two-tone mint palette that complements the gorgeous herringbone floors. The furniture is simple and cosy, and the space gets plenty of light from the large front windows. We especially love the large communal courtyard, with an abundance of tables for alfresco meals or evening cocktails with friends. And when it’s time for bed, you’ll find the colour scheme shifts from mint to a sleepier navy, lulling you into peaceful dreams of the city.

You're just a short twelve-minute walk from Convento do Carmo and a twenty-four-minute stroll from São Jorge Castle. 

It's a bright and breezy living space with heaps of abundant natural light pouring in throughout the day, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame calming green views. We really love the sunny terrace with views of the castle – take a hot coffee out here and watch the world go by.

This building has lived a few lives since it was built in the 1940s. It was designed by the renowned Portuguese architect Manuel Norte Júnior, before being used as a garage for storing car parts. After lying unoccupied for a decade, it was then lovingly restored with a focus on high end furniture and plenty of colourful touches. We particularly enjoyed the huge terrace – not only does it come with a stylish bar where you can mix cocktails, but there’s also plenty of space for alfresco dining and spending time with your loved ones. You'll also find a unique stained glass window in the kitchen, which makes the ideal spot for enjoying morning coffee. Although it's a little out of Lisbon's city centre, the surrounding Saldanha neighborhood has plenty of local restaurants and you can walk to the downtown riverfront area in forty minutes.

Practical, spacious, and surprisingly quiet for its location, this central apartment is ideal for a small family or group of close friends. Inside, the abundance of mirrors and well-chosen furniture make the place feel welcoming and bright. We particularly loved how your host has combined shades of green to create a cohesive and sophisticated look.
