We love the lived-in feel here, with eclectic art and comfortable furnishings. The home itself is beautifully styled, with charming decor, opulent soft furnishings and unique light fittings that make it feel really special. It’s also just 1.5km from Praia das Maçãs beach as well as local restaurants and shops. We recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay, but for relaxing days at home, this villa ticks all the right boxes. The swimming pool can be heated (upon request), there’s a terrace for al fresco dining and the rooms are family-friendly – and with three ground floor bedrooms, this is a lovely option for those with reduced mobility.

The villa is bright and stylish, with decor and finishes that would be at home in an interior design magazine. It’s beautiful, with splashes of colour adding warmth and fun. You’ll wake up to feel the sunshine on your pillow, tempting you to head through the floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors outside to the terrace. Sip an espresso as you breathe in the warm, sweet-scented air. 

The outside space has been as thoughtfully considered as the house. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a sun-worshipper or prefer to lounge in the shade. Firstly, we’re in awe of the spectacular garden. Nestled on your own private land, surrounded by verdant pine trees and nature, relaxing comes with ease. Out here, the hours whittle away while you’re relaxing on the sun loungers, taking a dip in the heated pool, catching up on your book on the bean bags, and taking in the scenery. When lunchtime rolls around, grill up a feast of local produce on the barbecue and gather around the pergola-covered bench-style dining table. 

Inside lends itself to any occasion, with the huge windows flooding the home with natural light and the scent of crisp pine hanging in the air. But in the evenings, the fireplace and warm-toned lighting make for wonderful cosy nights spent watching films. And with stylish yet comfortable bedrooms, all of which lead out to the garden, and super sleek bathrooms, the villa continues to impress.

When you want to get out and explore this beautiful slice of Portugal, you’re just 5km from the closest beach and its surfing spots, beachfront restaurants, and sugary white sand. If we were to tell you of a hideaway that sits in the middle of twelve hectares of lush pine forest in rural Comporta, you might imagine a certain type of home and we're willing to wager that it doesn't look anything like this wonderfully modern residence.

Not only does the boxy white exterior look visually striking from the outside, but this sense of awe will continue as you step through the glass doors. Our favourite space is the double-height living, which is flooded with natural light from the copious number of windows that line the walls. However, the modern brown kitchen and equally glossy bathrooms are sure to take your breath away, as well. The design throughout feels cohesive, united by a preference for clean lines, sleek surfaces and chic minimalism.

Given the agreeable climate that this corner of the Iberian peninsula enjoys, you'll likely want to spend as many hours outdoors as possible and that's easy to do here. The long infinity swimming pool is both wonderfully refreshing when the midday sun is at its highest and made all the more relaxing by the heady scent of fragrant herbs and vegetation that grow around the sides. There are plenty of terraces and balconies on which to take a seat and do nothing more strenuous than soak up the rays, but you can also find a tennis court if you fancy a match or two.

Although there's a strong sense of tranquillity from the isolated position, you don't have to venture far to find the Portuguese coastline. Carvalhal and Pego beaches can be reached in ten minutes or so in the car, and there are a few restaurants and bars to be found close to these seaside spots.

It's pretty clear what was at the top of the list for the architect that designed this intriguing home in Comporta – natural light and lots of it. Enormous walls of glass line the sides of the home and the dazzlingly white interior design only accentuates this plentiful natural asset. These huge windows also have the added benefit of looking out to peaceful views of local rice fields, too.

As you can probably begin to tell, it's a rather relaxing address. There are lots of spots in the tropical garden in which to appreciate the local tranquillity, whether on the back of a lounger or while dining alfresco on the table. Whenever the temperature takes a dip, you can head back inside and cosy up next to the contemporary fireplace in the lounge.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the locale, there are vast swathes of golden beaches covering the Portuguese coastline that start from as close as 1.5km away, while the nearest town is only 2km away for when you're in need of restaurants and shops.
