Built in the 1960s, in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, this home is endlessly cool and boasts some outstanding features. As well as games like croquet and corn hole, there are two outdoor tubs, and even an outdoor movie screen. You'll spot healing crystals set into the walls at carefully considered intervals. There’s everything from aventurine for emotional calm to smoky quartz for grounding and cleansing. And the location is hard to beat. You'll be right in the heart of the breathtaking landscape but it's still easy to experience the nearby restaurants, bars and boutique shops. La Copine is just round the corner, while the famous Pappy & Harriet’s is about fifteen minutes away. You can reach Joshua Tree National Park in about twenty-five minutes by car.

Start your day with a refreshing visit to the steam sauna, before taking off to the wilds for a hike. Around midday, cool off in the plunge pool and play some psychedelic tunes on the vinyl player. Treat yourself to lunch underneath the cosy covered cabana – we particularly love the outdoor lighting.

At night, gather around the gas fire pit while you rustle up some treats on the charcoal grill. Finish off your day by settling into the hot tub and stargazing – this area is incredible for cosmic views. When you’re settled in for the evening, you can languish by the indoor fireplace and immerse yourself in a good book.

Despite the remote location, the town of Yucca Valley is only a twenty-minute drive away and is excellent for supplies, dining, and bars. Meanwhile, the otherworldly landscapes of Joshua Tree National Park are a twenty-five-minute drive away, and you can amp up your relaxation even more with sound baths at the iconic Integratron, just ten minutes away by car.

In the rugged landscape surrounding this home, you’ve got a hot tub and macrame hammocks sitting beneath the big desert sky. Out favourite spot to watch the sunset is the ‘moon bench’ and once the sky has speckled with stars its time to get a fire crackling in the white-plaster fire pit and look for shooting stars.

Inside, you can feel that the hosts have poured their heart and soul into the decor, where crisp walls are adorned with object d’art in every desert hue. Furniture is vintage and hand-picked, and there’s a record player to curate the perfect soundtrack to your desert escape. The kitchen has all the essentials, and the selection of ceramic crockery feels as though each mug and plate has been considered.

If you want to get out and explore, Joshua Tree town is a twenty-minute drive and the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park is just beyond for endless desert and mountain hiking trails.

An architect's eye has been turned to this Yucca Valley getaway, which pops out of the desert in clean lines, stamped textiles, and potted plants. The real draw here, however, is the incredible location. When we say you're out in nature, we really mean it. Reached by a sandy dirt track, it feels as wild as the desert landscape that surrounds it. Relax in the cowboy-style tub during the day or explore the two acres of Joshua Tree forest or Joshua Tree National Park (a twenty-five-minute drive away), before setting up camp for the night. This fun desert home conjures up a mix of vintage hippy culture and the modern Boho chic style. Renovated and enlarged from a late-1950s villa, this place has a history. It was built when Landers and its Mojave Desert setting first became a place of pilgrimage for the original hippies. Inside, there's a welcoming, open-plan feel with an eclectic collection of decorative odds and ends. This is desert living, so outside there's the firepit table with distant mountain views, a barbecue grill and a traditional cowboy tub for getting clean in the open air. For a town of just 2,000 people, there’s plenty of things to do nearby. Try sonic healing sessions at the circular Integratron or marvel at the Giant Rock – a seven-storey-high boulder. Drink local brews from the Landers Brewing Company, explore Joshua Tree National Park and do some next-level stargazing.
